I am 51 years old and have been overweight all my life. ย After a few years of my PCP recommending I at least try a consult I finally asked for the referral. ย I hadn't tried that many times in my life to lose weight but every time I did I stalled out and could never seem to get over the hump. ย That always resulted in me getting discouraged and regaining what I had lost, sometimes plus some.
ย
I went for my last pcp visit in December 2014 and weighed in at 331. ย I went to my consult with Dr. William Johnson and weighed 322 on January 29, 2015. ย I was at 303ย when I received my approval from insurance friday April 24, 2015. ย
ย
Iย chose to do the Gastric Sleeve because I don't want a foreign body in me, nor do I want the absorptive issues affiliated with bypass. ย My surgeon agreed that was the correct path for me.
ย
My surgery was May 15th of 2015.ย  I was sleeved as an outpatient at Emory John's Creek Hospital.ย  The only thing I regret is not having done this sooner.
ย
I found Bariatric Pal through a web search for support groups and look to find and share information, milestones with those who understand and share my experience.
ย
I am someone who loves to laugh and find humor in almost anything. I have a lot of sedentary hobbies and am looking forward to getting on the move when I am better able. ย  I have a tremendously supportive husband who works out every day so I have a wonderful coach for the gym.ย
ย
I am not telling my family because I have not had the best relationship with them over my weight, so its none of their business.ย ย Some of them have annoyed me e to lose weight and I just don't want to hear the questions constantly asking how much I have lost.ย  Fortunately for me they do not live close so they will see me when I am ready.
ย
I am doing this for me because I want to be around for a very long time and spend it with my husband. ย All my co-workers know and are very excited for me andย are excitedly watching the changes as I lose.
ย
If you have read all this then thank you for your time.ย  If you want to speak privately feel free to send me a message, I promise I won't bite. ย I speak sarcasm fluently and love to meet new people and hear their stories. ย I look forward to interacting with you all and offering what I can.ย  We can all do this together.
