Advice
That it would be difficult to get down much Fluid for the first few days and to not panic. Your tummy is healing and you must constantly sip a little to get as much as you can in. To get my behind in the gym sooner for better results. Something I knew but just want to pass along...take your measurements for the times the scale isn't moving and take pics. You will see changes even when the scale doesn't budge!

Anyone starting weight at 200 lbs? Help :)
As you will read all over this forum the surgery is just a tool. Everyone has a different result. You should look at this as a lifestyle change and not a sprint. If you lose the 60-70 pounds you want to lose then you are a success. It won't come off in one month for sure. Have realistic expectations! Stick to the plan given you and you will do great! Good luck!

My surgery is Tuesday ! Wondering about recovery !
Everyone's surgery experience is different but for me, I was sleeved as an outpatient and took 11 days off. I was off pain meds and driving on day 5. I got tired pretty quickly but recovered just fine. I am at my desk a lot at work so I did fine. Definitely plan on keeping fluids handy and you will do great! Wishing you the best!

Cholecystectomy with laproscopic sleeve?
I did not have it done with my VSG and I wish I had. I was in the ER with a gallbladder attack at 6 months out and have to have it done in another surgery. I had explained in my initial paperwork that I had already had a couple attacks ad was surprised they didn't want to remove it but lesson learned. If you have no issue then I would question, but if you have family history as they say in Frozen..."Let it gooo!" lol

The misconceptions about WLS from people who have not had it are hysterical, but...
You guys are killing me!

Old Timers-What is the point of WLS if many regain/have hunger/diet drama..
I would say to you that we have the surgery because nothing else worked. People who regain the weight don't take it seriously and think the surgery is the answer. The surgery is a tool and you must change your habits forever. This isn't a diet. It isn't a race to the finish. It is a life long marathon. To be of any success it takes time and patience, a commitment to the plan and hard choices. Yes, some people regain the weight but that doesn't mean you have to. There are also people out there who are years post-op and are still at goal. You can do this!

Insurance requires failing. What?
I had Aetna (of course there are tons of Aetna plans) and I had to show a history of weight loss attempts without success. I got copies of my PCP notes from diet plans and pills I had tried with little to no success. The insurance company was asking to see that I wasn't able to do it on my own. The attempts had to be for a required amount of time consecutively. You will get approved, just hang in there. You can also appeal if denied so don't give up! Pre op diet
I just tried to stay busy and drink as much Water as I could. It will be over before you know it!

Paying the Deposit
Paying the deposit this far in advance does seem odd. Can't say I blame you for the hesitation but I am sure it will be fine. Can't wait to hear how your results go. I will need a thigh lift myself when I get to goal. My thighs look like crepe paper...ugh

Can you "stall" during liquid pre-op? I'm frustrated :(

Hello all I got my surgery date of May 19th!
My pre-op grocery list was based on my pre-op diet I was given. For post-op I got sf popsicles, gatorade and mio for my Water. I had my Protein shakes ready to go and the rest was to fill in. The sf popsicles were nice for something to chew. The surgeon will tell you what they want you to consume and when for you pre-op diet. Good luck and wishing you a smooth surgery and speedy recovery!

Extremely tired 3 weeks post-op
You had a really big surgery, I think we for get that. If you are getting in your Protein and liquids that is good. Did your surgeon ask you to take any supplements such as B-12? I take that twice a week. After surgery I was tired for about 6 weeks or so, then my energy took off. The more weight I lose the better it gets. Hang in there!

Tomorrow is the big!
Good luck and wishing you a smooth, speedy recovery!

Finally have my date!

Surgery tomorrow 4/14
Agreed, it is healthy and normal to be nervous. You will do fine and congrats on making a decision to get healthy! You can do this! What an exciting time!!

Frustrated
You should be able to go online and pull your plan specifications and print them off. Then you have it in writing. The insurance coordinator at your surgery center should be of great help in getting the information needed if all else fails. Good luck!!
