    Major Stall

You may not be getting enough to eat. My NUT adjusted my nutrients up when I hit a stall and that was the problem. Especially if you are exercising. You should check with your NUT to make sure.
  3. I cannot emphasize how important it is to track your food and liquids. Every time I have hit a stall, I have been able to look back and see what was different. Twice it was because I wasn't getting enough food in. My nutritionist was able to look back through MyFitnessPal and see the issue. Tracking keeps you accountable for your choices. I went through gastric bypass which as most of you know is NOT FOR SISSIES and I decided that it would be so stupid to go through all of this only to end up where I started by gaining weight back. You have to choose to be diligent about tracking. You have to choose to want to be successful. Choose wisely!!

    Eggs

I used to eat eggs in any fashion at least once a day. I can now eat hard boiled, fried over easy, and poached, but I absolutely cannot stomach scrambled eggs. No matter what I try, I just can't do it. And I used to LOVE them. Oh well...????

I had RNY April 8. Down 40 pounds and loving the smaller clothes, being able to cross my legs, bending over to tie my shoes without grunting... You know... The little things!!

Could it be I am not eating enough?

You may not be eating enough. That happened to me. Once I increased my calories from 900 to 1100, I started losing again. I use My Fitness Pal to track everything which is I huge requirement for success. TRACK TRACK TRACK!!!

How long do the stalls last ?

I hit a stall at 8 weeks also. I was stuck for almost 4 weeks. I spoke to my NUT and she adjusted my calories and protein/carb amounts. Two days into that my stall broke and I am down 3 pounds and back on track. I wasn't getting enough calories so my body was holding on. Touch base with your NUT and see if that is the problem. It will pass.

    "Brave" choice?

Gastric bypass is not for sissies!! It is brave to choose to have this type of procedure. After all the diets, the pills, the regains, the tears, the frustration, and the unsuccessful attempts to try and be healthier, there are still people out there that would never choose this. We are brave! To take control and to trust our doctors to help us be as healthy as we can takes courage because most people would not want to work at this! Take it as a compliment!! No matter how they may have meant it. Good luck!!
  10. I am 4.5 weeks out and I totally know where you are coming from!! I PROMISE YOU it will all be okay. Everybody is different in how they recover from this so give yourself a chance to heal in your own way. You will be feeling much better in about a week and then you are on your way!! When you can, walk as much as possible and get your water in however you can. You will be okay!!! Hang in there!!

    Lots of pills

The place that saved me from throwing every pill out the window is The Vitamin Shoppe. I found my multi in a soft chew, my calcium in a soft chew that tastes like tootsie rolls, my probiotic in a soft fruity chew, and I get my B vitamins in a once a week nasal device (from Nasocobal) so getting my vitamins in is no longer a nightmare. They also carry Quest protein bars which are so yummy and 20 grams of protein each. I half them for mid morning and then evening snacks. They are nationwide so look them up and shop their site.

    Hello, new here

My go to protein shake is Performance Whey Isolate Vanilla Shake flavor. I tried about 15 different brands until I found this. I mix it with 10oz skim milk and two packets of Splenda. 38gms of protein per shake including the skim milk. I drink one in the morning and then my food supplements the rest of my protein requirement. But in the event that I just can't get the food in, I will drink another for dinner to make sure I have my protein in. It is not chalky, I mix it with a blender bottle so it doesn't get too frothy, and the flavor is really good. I got this at Costco but I am sure they sell it at other places like GNC, Walmart, etc. It does get better. I swear! Hang in there!

    What ya eating tonight?

I have had great success with Performance whey Isolate (Vanilla Shake). I mix it with 10 oz. skim milk and add two packets of Splenda. I tried about 15 different types before I found this. It's 30 gms of protein per shake. I started out drinking two a day but then dropped one as my food is now supplementing the rest of my protein. Good luck!!
  14. I have found two Protein shakes that I really like. One is a whey powder I mix with skim milk with 30 gms of Protein and the other is a pre-made shake with milk protein with 20 gms of protein. There is another out there with soy protein that is a pre-made with 25 gms. My question is, if I only use the pre-made when mixing the whey powder is not feasibile, is this okay? They are roughly about the same calories and carbs. They all use splenda for sweetner. Any insight would be helpful!!

    Pain

chicken and Pork are really hard to eat because they do not soften up and they are very dry. If you can't cut it with a fork, it's gonna be awhile before you can swallow it. I had my first dumping incident over pork and I think it will be a long time before I try to eat that again!

    Pain

Do yourself a favor and throw up. I just went through this and it was the only way to finally get relief! I feel your pain!!

New here. Still in the hospital

Welcome to the adventure! My surgery was April 8 and I am down 22 pounds! Check the forums often. There is so much great information on here!

Why is this ALL I'm thinking about now!?

No I absolutely cannot eat anything at this point. I found THAT out a few days ago when I got cocky and decided since I was doing so well, I would try and eat some soft pork chop. Small bites. Chewed really well. TOO EARLY. I had my first dumping event that lasted for three hours! It was horrible. I would go throw up, come back to my desk (I work from home) and sit for about 5 minutes, and then I would need to throw up again. THREE HOURS! I was taught a lesson by my body. And believe me, I heard it! So I am on the mushy/soft food phase, which is where I am supposed to be. Soft scrambled egg with a little cheese, refried Beans with cheese and guac, yogurt (I LOVE the Dannon Light and Fit Greek Whips! The lemon meringue tasts JUST like a real slice!), egg sald with light mayo, mustard, and a little dill relish, skim milk... I am fine to be here for awhile. What's really cool is that I do not miss the sodas, or my beloved sweet tea. I was a fiend with both of those and now I don't even think about them. So that's a plus. It does get better and having lost 22 pounds now, I am happy with my decision and grateful I get this chance to be healthy again.
  19. I took a small bottle of Biotene with me. It's a lifesaver!! It made the hospital stay so much more bearable!

Why is this ALL I'm thinking about now!?

I had those thoughts too, leading up to the actual day. Then I had a mini-meltdown in the hospital right after the surgeon came in to speak with me before they took me back. I started crying and could not stop! It was a mixture of fear of the unknown, mourning the foods I would longer be able to eat with great abandon, the changes I knew that were coming... a whole bunch of things. I was able to calm down and started thinking about the pros of going through with this. And they far outweighed the cons. Once you are on the other side of it, you realize that really is the right decision and you will be able to handle it. It's a challenge at first, but it is completely doable. I am three weeks out and very happy I did not let me nerves get the best of me!

    What ya eating tonight?

how many days are you post op? I would love some beans and cheese I had surgery April 8. Was Clear liquids until April 13 when I went to full liquids. Started puree/some soft on April 20 and found that the refried beans not only fall into the puree category, but it also helps with getting Protein iin that doesn't come from a Protein shake. Have been losing steady and now down 20 pounds.

    Calories, Calories, Calories...UGH!

How do you keep the calories low as you increase protein? What are you eating?

    What ya eating tonight?

Surgery was April 8. Just now stepping into the unknown with soft foods. Tolerating everything well, but can definitely feel when I am full. For the moment, until I can get all my protein from food, I have a protein shake (30gms protein) in the morning and another in the evening so I am meeting the 60gms minimum. Have been able to eat yogurt, homemade egg salad, SF jello puddings, potted meat (12gms protein!) and apple sauce. Down 18 since the surgery and finally feeling like a human again. Can't wait to try some of these amazing recipes posted on this forum!
