naturegirl got a reaction from rebirth1029 in How close was your surgery to the dummy date?
My surgery will be taking place on the tentative date that they gave me. My insurance approved the surgery that same week. The hold up was on my doctor signing off. So from the time that I was given a date to the day of my surgery was only a month. The big day is a week from today!

@@LittleMissCopular it happened today to me again. But I noticed that it was the same outfit I wore the last time I got it. So apparently bright teal gym pants and a solid black shirt do wonders for me. LOL

I had to laugh after I read this, because I get it ALL THE TIME. I work part time at a gym and I have one client here that said to me recently "wow, i can REALLY tell the difference in the way you look!!" and I'm thinking "Lady, i've gained like 4 pounds". I don't know if its just the way the clothes lay on me that day or what, but i've had multiple people comment or ask me about losing weight and i'm at my heaviest too!

Hi! I'm Ashley, 32 y.o. mom of two (7,5) in the Austin area (one of the fittest cities in the U.S., ???? ugh). It's no fun being a mom to two young children at 310lbs.
I'm an OR nurse, so I've actually seen the surgery and my surgeon in action.
I'm scheduled for my surgery on 7/15 and am on day 4 of my low carb preop diet and frequently consider embracing homicidal tendencies as a result. ????????

naturegirl got a reaction from The Candidate in Telling your employer about surgery
I told my boss about my upcoming surgery after my first appointment with the surgeon. Since my doctors office is 1.5 hours away I have had to request more time off than I would like, but my boss is willing to work with me in altering my schedule. I've also slowly told my coworkers about what's going on. I felt that it was beneficial for them to know as our office will be ramping up in intensity as summer vacation comes to a close.

I get them and that's been a concern of mine, especially with the food intake restrictions. The last thing I need is a shot in my behind to break it up. My doctors office told me to continue taking my medication now and after surgery since its small enough to swallow. Good luck.

naturegirl got a reaction from PChayy05 in Surgery cancelled 4 days prior...I'm upset
It will come with time, so don't give up. Until this past Friday my surgeon had yet to sign off on my surgery even though my insurance had approved it. This was all due to a sleep study report submitted June 1 that indicated I would benefit from seeing a sleep specialist. I had to contact the sleep specialist to obtain additional information from them to the point of them writing my surgeon explaining that there was no need for the recommendation to delay things. Finally he signed. In the two weeks of fretting and playing phone tag I came to realize that if it was delayed that it wasn't the end of the world. I could still prepare myself for surgery, and be all the more ready when the day came.

What I was trying so say was the sleeve doesn't have some of the issues as bypass such as dumping which makes some foods off limits for many. You said you we're nervous about what you had to give up. Truth is, I don't have to give up anything, but I choose to. Yes, the rule is Protein first, which I still follow the majority of the time. I am almost 2 years post op and at goal so I am I maintenance now.
pizza is not a regular menu item for me. When my family has pizza I will either eat the topping off of a slice or maybe eat a half of a slice with the crust. I am Italian so Pasta is an every Sunday event. I make my own sauce and meatballs. I eat a meatball or two first and then a very small serving of pasta if I have room.
I do not drink wine so that is not an issue for me......if you want a glass of wine you can certainly have one if it fits in your daily plan of calories allowed. Example: if I am going to a party and I know there is going to be cake, I make sure I eat very few carbs and more protein with the meal so the small piece of cake will be ok.
It's a learning process and it takes time but it is the best thing I ever did. I am sure you will do fine.

That sounds horrible. I understand where you're coming from. My surgery was postponed twice before I had it done June 25, the second time it was postponed a couple days beforehand too. Work was getting tired of the dates swithed, and I was starting to lose confidence, but you've made it 2 years! You're literally right around the corner from your surgery and your new healthy life. It's going to be all worth it. I'm sorry you broke your ankle, but just think of it this way: You don't want to be hobbling around, in pain from the ankle, in pain from the surgery, it's just going to add more discomfort. Focus on your ankle being totally healed, so that you can devote all of your time and energy into recovery after your wls.

The thing that kept me from food funerals is this single quote that has become my mantra...
    "You will eat again"
I don't have to eat all of the bad stuff now just in case. I just look at it as, well maybe I'll eat it another day after the surgery, we will see. It might not work for everyone but for me the reassurance that I can revisit the decision to eat or not eat a food at a latter date is really helpful.

I think it works fine, but I have come to realize it doesn't matter what other people think.....if you think you might obsess about it when you're out, you won't be comfortable and will just worry about it. On the other hand, if you feel like it works, the flaunt it!! It basically looks like part of the dress. Enjoy!

I have my preop meeting with the Nut on Monday. Then it's my 2 week liquid diet with surgery on the 21. Having seen DH go through surgery makes all the more real. Still nervous about the process. Trying to mentally prepare myself with familiarizing with all the stage 1 baby food choices available.

I am one week into my pre-op diet. My doctor did not require me to do a liquid diet. I am allowed chicken and turkey breast no skin, lean cuts of deli meat, tuna, unlimited Protein Shakes, egg whites, sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding and sugar free popsicles but absolutely no fruits or vegetables. I am down 8 pounds in one week. It is a challenge with the few choices that I have so I am certain all liquids are tough.
