  1. Full liquids until day 15
  2. I'm a Nov 9th sleevie... I feel pretty good. I accidentally took a single gulp of Protein shake this morning. Yikes. I've never been a big eater - just a bad eater. That said, I have to remind myself to drink. I'm on full liquids for another week. I have a cup of Soup sitting right next to me as I type this. It's 1/2 cup and I think I've had 10 sips the past hour. Hoping pureed foods give me a bit more energy.

    New me

Amazing job. Congrats and continued success!!
  4. I am only a week post-op, but sitting is driving me nuts. I cannot find a chair/couch I am comfortable in. My ass hurts. Next to my desk in the living room, I now have a desk chair, a kitchen chair, my son's desk chair, a bar stool and a dining room chair. I'm also sitting on a Tempur Pedic pillow. MY DAMN ASS is killing me from sitting -- even for just 10 minutes. What gives?
  5. Prayer for you and hope you feel better quick!!

    Pre-Op Tests

2 weeks prior to surgery, at the hospital, I had an EKG, Chest xray and blood work.
  8. They gave them to me in the hospital. The only way it didn't phase me was in my thigh/stomach with the skin pulled up and pinched about an inch. Didn't feel it at all. Don't avoid the shots. They could be life-saving.

    Pickle joy no more?

I'm allergic to cucumbers - so no pickles for me! My daughter could eat a jar at a time.

    Happy Veterans Day

Thank you all for your service. At this very moment, our middle son (3 boys/3 girls) is leaving the base that has been his home for the past 2 years -- 8th and I in Washington, DC. He was a proud member of the Color Guard unit straight from SOI training. My husband just loaded the truck in DC and they're heading home. He heads to Camp Pendleton (San Diego) mid-December, so he'll be home for a whole month! His base was first in line of defense for the President of the US/DC. And with this new ISIS threat on DC, I thank God today was his last day there. May all current troops be safe and our forever gratitude for all who have served and are currently serving our nation. xo
  11. I've started adding extracts or Torani sugar free syrups to my Protein shakes. Yum
  12. One week post-op today. I feel fantastic - aside from being a little tired. Best thing though? My ulcers were removed with my stomach and I have NO pain from them.

    Incentive Spirometer

The hospital gave me one - and thankfully I took it home. 4 days post-op, I was at the doctor getting a chest xray to rule out pneumonia, as I had pain in my left lobe, was having trouble taking deep breaths and wheezing occasionally. I'm extremely prone to pneumonia (I've had it quite a few times and am an asthmatic) and being intubated can affect that. Xrays showed no sign of pneumonia (thank god) but did show atechtasis -- where my alveoli are collapsed and not expanding with my breathing. I've been instructed to increase my usage of the spirometer to correct the issue. I spoke with my surgeon today and she was pretty impressed I knew my lower left lobe was where the issue was -- as that was where I thought pneumonia was settling in. LISTEN to your body. Be aware. Do the exercises, walking, breathing they tell you to do. Especially if you're typically compromised already.

    So I lost 100 lbs!

What a fantastic milestone. You look amazing. Congratulations.
  15. That's frustrating. But don't despair. My insurance took less than a week to approve. My doctor's office had already put me on the schedule so as not to waste time. Explain your insurance change to your surgeon. I'm quite certain they see that all the time. Hopefully the additional counseling will be beneficial to you!!

    The thoughtless comments

Oh, if my husband had those comments, he'd be cooking for the week. Well, he actually does the cooking anyway but you get my point. You have a few options for the issue of leftovers (serve it again spiced up, toss it, make less, etc). But I would have a discussion to him about how his comments hurt your feelings. Even if said in jest, they stemmed from somewhere.

    My Favorite Meal!

I've always been a meat & potatoes girl - mostly because of my allergies to food -- but these recipes have me excited. I'm only a week post-op - but am compiling a little folder of recipes I'm so excited to try. Thank you all for not only your wisdom, advice & support - but also your yummy recipes!! I'm trying Eggface's Peanut Butter icecream first.
  18. My surgery is next Monday (the 9th). I was originally scheduled for 9/24 but had to be postponed because my stomach was full of ulcers. I have Erosive Gastritis so the lining is wearing away. I cannot wait to have a "normal but smaller" stomach. Hoping the sleeve goes well, but I am prepared if there's too much damage and need bypass. One week left of liquids. I bet this week flies by. Who's with me in November and where is your surgery? What are your feelings as we're now into November? liquid diet stage yet (if required)? I'm at NYU in Manhattan. No time yet though. I'm excited. Liquids since last week, but liquids with one light meal since September because of the ulcers. Good luck to all!
  19. I'm 3 days post op. No gas pains, just mild discomfort and no pain meds since the early morning after surgery. Since coming home, I've had the most violent nightmares ever. I literally feel like I'm living a Criminal Minds episode with every dream. Called the doc this morning. She changed the only med I'm on. I'm afraid to go to sleep. It got so bad last night that I put my head on my husband and sobbed. I see the surgeon tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it's just the remnants of the anesthesia or pain meds from the hospital. It's terrifying.
  20. So glad I'm not abnormal. Haha. I've been stabbed repeatedly, chased, shot at, and left shirtless as I ran for my life. I sure hope 80s love songs on Pandora does the trick tonight. Because if the Jets lose, it's already starting out downhill.
  21. I'm nervous. I'm excited. I'm jittery. I'm sitting here drinking broth at almost 10pm and finishing up some cakes I have due for customers. I was hoping I'd have down time - but will probably not head to bed until 2am or so. I think i'm going to walk to the hospital from the train (8 very long city blocks) - so at least I'll be a bit tired and walk off some nervous energy. I'm trying to keep the excitement in the forefront of my mind. I had my husband measure me today to compare to the measurements he took in September before my surgery was postponed. I lost 4" from my waist, 3" from my hips, 2" from my shoulders and 2" from my bust. "Eye on the prize". That mantra will get us through. That, and look how many were before us that have shared some AMAZING success stories!! Good luck everyone. My surgery is at 1pm - so I will check in tomorrow night.
  22. Jello? Though I'm sure you're tired of that. A friend at work who had bypass eats pop-chips and salsa. Not sweet but that may help.
  23. Good luck Monday. Where are you having your surgery?

    Nausea with Premier protein

The Premier Protein started making me sick too. I like the unjury (van or choc) with unsweetened almond milk and PB2 powder.
