It's really hard at first but it does get better. My surgery was June 1st and I'm just now beginning to get my energy back. Water plays a big part in your energy level, be sure your getting at least 64oz. It's a struggle at first to get that much water in but you can do it!!

  7. First week back... 3-days in 2 left. Nosey Co-workers, lol Oh the gossip. When they don't know they reach!!!

Oh I would answer them by saying "Thank you, I've been working really hard at it" It's not easy and you need credit for all the hard work you put into it!! To many people think you just go have surgery and the weight falls off! Ha! I wish! I've lost 22.5 pounds so far but everyone at my work knows I had surgery (very small office) and everyone has been so supportive! I don't really see a difference yet, and they aren't making any comments yet.

We are going to a big family, I mean BIG family picnic/swim party. I volunteered to bring beans so at least I know there will be something there I can eat! It's funny I really don't see food as the focus of the party anymore. I'm more interested in the swimming and fireworks now! I may change my mind after I see and smell all the food but for now I'm perfectly happy with my beans! Everybody have fun, and remember you can have fun without food being the focus.

I'm gonna try some Cod tonight! I need protein and it seems that should be ok with most docs.

  12. Getting really sad. I'm not suppose to eat real food till 12 weeks out and for now everything I eat seems to give me nausea except for yogurt and I'm really getting tired of yogurt. I've lost 20 lbs since surgery and that really doesn't seem like much to me. I'm getting really down, only 20 lbs and can't eat anything but yogurt! It just seems like for all this trouble I should either lose more weight or be able to at least eat some mashed potatoes or beans!

I had plantar fasciitis before, had to get steroid shots in my foot before I would go on vacation just to make sure I would be able to walk and enjoy vacations! Then I started wearing Crocs all the time during the week and it healed up. Wore them for about two years and now I wear whatever tennis shoes I want to wear with my scrubs. Did they give you exercises to do to stretch the ligament? Try wearing Crocs or shoes with really good arch support. WOW 45 minutes is awesome, were you doing that before surgery? If not then you probably should back down a bit. What gym are you walking to? I have a membership at LA Fitness out there. I've lost 15.9 since surgery and 22.5 since the week before surgery when I started the liquid diet. I had hoped for more also. I wonder how much I have to lose to change pants sizes? 42 pounds is a lot!! Your doing great! Hang in there!

I messed up, it is 6 weeks I get to try real foods, slowly. I was doing ok with several things until about a week ago and all of a sudden everything I eat upsets my tummy. Hope it goes away as weirdly as it came on!! How's the weight loss going? Are you able to do any exercise yet?

OMG! Your getting to eat all sorts of stuff! Yum! I hope when the doc says I can eat that I am able to handle it since I'm not handling soft foods very well at this point.

  17. I met with a cardiologist yesterday. I definitely feel better after seeing him. He believes having two major surgeries in 8 months has played a huge role. My passing out, dizziness and low heart rate is being caused by 3 things: surgeons using steroids during and after spine surgery has caused my adrenal system to be out of whack which is causing my body to take longer to acclimate to positional changes, dehydration from the ability to swallow much for the last 4 weeks and the nerve in my cervical spine that was impacted and controls heart rate is irritate. He said it is like a perfect storm. An endocrinologist can help me with the adrenal gland issue. Of course Imy throat is getting better making hydration a bit easier and I just have to give that nerve some time to heal. My heart looks very health! Thanks for all the well wishes!

I've been back a couple of weeks now and I feel like I'm taking the whole house with me! Just remember your protein and vitamins and you'll be fine! Take it easy for the first week or so, you may find you get tired much easier. Rest at home as much as you can.

Your better than me, I quit after about a week. Just couldn't handle it anymore and I am in no way a risk for blood clots! I'm 24 days post op now and I've learned a lot. Still tired and sore but I'm getting there!
