  1. I took Topamax for weight loss and it gave me severe stomach cramps. I had to go to the emergency room it got so bad. I was told it couldn't have been Topamax that caused it. They gave me anti-cramping meds and I didn't feel right for weeks. I stopped the Topamax for a few weeks. I started them back again and the day after the cramps came again. Stopped the meds and started one more time a few weeks later...cramps again. Clearly it was the Topamax! That stuff was the devil for me. I have two other friends that took it and lost lots of weight only to get kidney stones...

Clarification...I had taken all this BEFORE I had surgery...

  2. well, this is related to the scale, but still a nsv lol

i hadn't logged on here in a while and decided to update my ticker. it moved me to tears to have a visual representation of my journey. when you're a noob and you see everyone's success, you think, wow they've come so far and i'm just beginning! but, oh, when *your* ticker finally moves and even gets to the halfway mark, it feels soooooo great! i'm 71lbs from my highest weight, 48 from surgery. woohoo!!

How do you get a ticker?

  3. I went to my last class before surgery and actually heard this from the other PATIENTS! It made me question my decision which really ticked me off. I felt like I was being ganged up on by two of the girls. I was hoping to find a support buddy but that clearly didn't happen.

Same thing happened to me when I was jumping through hoops for my lap-band. The "ladies" at the support group meeting that I was required to attend decided to tell me that they didn't think I needed surgery, since I was "so small." Yeah, no. I had a BMI of 39-40 at the time.

EXACTLY! My BMI was 40. My surgeon didn't argue the case so why would they?

  4. Hello! My gastric bypass was exactly 2 months ago on June 3rd. I have been doing well, sticking to my diet and taking my Vitamins. Last night (morning) about 2am I woke up feeling like I was seconds away from throwing up. This has never happened to me before so I was curious if anyone else has had this happen. I have almost thrown up twice due to eating too fast but have managed to keep everything down so far. I ate dinner around 5:30ish with nothing after that so why 2am would this happen?

  5. hey! good here too. down 32lbs, feeling great. i tried on my wedding dress from years ago which is now too big, that was a fun treat. still one of my better decisions.

I can't wait until my wedding is too big! Something to look forward to!

Still losing and Im very happy!

I dont weigh myself except at dr's appointments. Have been walking since surgery date and started working out officially two weeks ago, and that is going well.

Sometimes i think i should be further along, but when i look at pictures I see the tremendous progress I have made.

You are doing great! My surgery was June 3rd. My highest weight was 234 and I'm down to 204! I asked my doctor and he said I was doing very well. It seemed slow but I'll take every pound I can get! Congrats!

  7. My mom cooked often and we rarely ate out. She tried to cook healthy foods but I was a pretty picky eater. I wouldn't try new foods at all and wanted to stick to things I knew I liked. My one thing I wish my parents did different was have me drink Water instead of sodas. I loved sodas! I wasn't really heavy until after high school and then I ate and drank whatever I wanted. My kids aren't allowed sodas except for special occasions. They are allowed water and milk. More often than not they will now chose water over soda! Yay!

  8. I am a slow loser! I am 5 weeks out tomorrow and I have lost 25 pounds since surgery. I started at 270 (I am 5'11"). I had my one month dr appointment today and they said I was doing great. I feel so much better! Amazing what a difference 25 ponds makes!

It does makes SUCH a difference! I can tell my body is changing just in the little thing. When I walk my arms and hips don't collide like they used to! It's really nice!

  9. Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I had my bypass June 9th and am down 30 pounds. Can tolerate cottage cheese, yogurt and Soup right now.

Last Tuesday I developed a sharp pain in my left should when I would breath in. As the day went on I also developed the pain in my left side, also when I breathed in. By about 8 that night I went to Urgent Care who sent me to the ER. Long story short is they did a cat scan and discovered there was an abscess on my pouch, so I have been in the hospital ever since. I have been on antibiotics, had another swallow test today to very there was a leak and that came back positive. Doc wants me here a couple more days, will move to stag 3 tomorrow and possibly be released on Sunday. He said he does not see this very often and it is typically caused by overeating. I had been on stage 4 for about a week and could barely eat a yogurt and 1/4C cottage cheese per day, so I did not cheat and have not touched anything not on the stage 4 list! Benefit, I get another week off work :-)

Sorry to hear you are in the hospital but I wish you a speedy recovery!
