  2. No, it sure didn't. I paid about $7,500 for it, but it was a total lower body lift.

    I'm famous!

Okay, not really. They just put my pic in Utah Health magazine. Here it is!
  4. Thought I'd post the Utah Health magazine ad they recently put me in. I'm so excited to be on it, helping others to make the decision to get the band!

    I'm famous!

Thanks :blushing: but yeah, this was actually one of my engagement photos, so no bodybugg! But thanks, everyone! I just had a baby and was completely unfilled for the pregnancy, since I threw up the whole time, so I've got 35 pounds to lose from the pregnancy. But I know I can do it again with the lapband AND the bodybugg.
  6. I'm so sorry about your loss! I don't know the details, but it breaks my heart just to hear it. I know how it goes to just eat the junkiest thing that goes down the easiest when things aren't right. Good luck! All I can say is that the suggestions people posted here have seemed to work pretty well! In fact, first bite syndrome seems to be going away slowly
  7. Thanks for posting hmarko. The weird thing about this is that I'm not a new bandster. I never had first bite syndrome until two months ago! And I'm really not overfilled. I'm a 1.8 and, before the baby, I was at a 3.0. It's very frustrating, however, and I feel like I can't get fills because of it. Question for you: Do you mean you time 30 seconds to two minutes between EVERY bite? Or is this just after the first bite?
  8. Bumping this in case anyone else has more suggestions on how to help this. I never had it until after I had my baby 2 months ago and started getting fills again!
  9. I was banded yesterday and I'm wondering how long this gas pain will last. I've read to use Gas X, but it's not doing anything for me. Right now, I just want to know if there's an end in sight! Thanks!
  10. I think I have swelling around the band. I had a baby almost 6 weeks ago, and i think that has made me swollen. I was filled to only a 1.5 (I was totally unfilled during my pregnancy) and I still get stuck quite a bit. I've done mushies and liquids for 24 hours but the inflammation is still there when I go for solids again. Any advice on how to decrease the inflammation?
  11. COUNT YOUR CALORIES! The bodybugg is the other #1 thing that helped me be successful!
  12. Counting calories obsessively is how I lost all my weight!
  13. lost 165 with the band. now need to get back to this after gaining 35 during pregnancy...
  14. I have this weird problem. I had my cute little baby boy about five weeks ago. During my pregnancy I was unfilled and gained about 45 pounds! I'm trying to take it off now, but I was filled back up to a 1.5 (I was around 3 before) and now food constantly gets stuck! I don't understand, because I can actually eat quite a bit, it just seems like no matter how small the bite, food gets stuck. Any ideas on what might be going on?
  15. Hey thanks! Maybe swollen because I'm still retaining a lot of water from giving birth/pregnancy?
  16. I gave birth to my sweet little guy two weeks ago and tomorrow I'm scheduled to go in and have my band tightened again. I gained a lot more weight than I wanted to during the pregnancy (like 50 pounds), but had my band completely loosened. Here's my dilemma: I am already producing so little milk and have to supplement with formula. Do you think having my band tightened will affect my milk supply? I drink around 16 cups of water a day, but will the fewer calories further affect the milk supply?
  17. My only worry is that I'm already a bit too tight. I have to choke most everything down and I'm starting to get indigestion every night now. Is that just part of being pregnant????
  18. Oh my goodness! I'm happy to have found this thread. I just found out yesterday that I am pregnant with my first child as well. At 30 years old I didn't think it'd be quite so easy. I just went off birth control last month. Anyhow, I'm at my goal weight and have even had a tummy tuck (which I knew I'd have to say goodbye to one day), but I wonder how much of an unfill to get. Any ideas????

From the album: Before and AFTER!

  20. About a week ago I was contacted by a woman who sells an Acai Berry weight loss product online. She found my pictures on flickr and wants to use them as "before/after" pics for her website. She's willing to pay me for the rights to use the photos. My dilemma is that I didn't use her product to lose the weight. If body bugg or lap band had contacted me, I'd gladly let them use my pictures, but in this case I don't know exactly what to do. We could sure use the money, but I feel like I'd be deceiving people who are using this product. What do you think?

To sell out or not to sell out

I know many out there are saying that even considering this is selling out, but honestly, please put yourself in my shoes. My husband just got laid off with no future job in sight and someone is flashing dollar signs. You begin to rationalize reasons why you should take the money. In the end, no, I didn't, so please don't judge me for considering it. I think most people out there would. At any rate, it wasn't JUST the band that got me to goal. Not by a long shot. In fact, the band didn't help me an awful lot the first year at all. The loss really began when I started using the body bugg. Those who are wondering what that is, it's a personal calorie counter. It counts how many calories you are burning all day! That way you can track calories in/out and KNOW how much you can take in to reach your goal. I became so active that I actually had my band loosened quite a bit. So yes, I am grateful for the band, but no, it was not ultimately the thing that got me to goal, just like anyone losing weight. They use multiple tools to get there. It's unhealthy to completely rely on the band to get you to your total weight loss goal. At any rate. Thanks for the advice everybody. It helped to hear others' opinion on the matter.

To sell out or not to sell out

I've already decided not to take the money. It didn't feel right. I told her she could use it if her product was the Xocai chocolates and products, since I did use that while losing the weight to help curb the sugar cravings. I also said I didn't want the photo to denote that I lost ALL the weight using it, just that it helped me to curb the cravings so I COULD lose the weight. I'd be ok with that since it's true, but I don't know what she's going to say back or how they plan on using the photos. There's a good chance I just won't stick with it. BTW, I have submitted my photo to lapband.com and talked to the bodybugg people, but no biters so far. It'd be nice to get paid for doing all that work, but then again, I didn't get paid to gain it all, either. My husband and I will be fine financially.
