  1. I want to have energy to clean my house. I want to look nice and want to take pictures with my family. I want to feel lighter and be able to move easy and fast. I want to be able to wear all the nice clothes i still have waiting for me in my closet. I want to go places and to family and friend's events without being embarrassed that i gained so much weight. I want to be able to dress and care for myself easily. Be able to put on socks without a struggle. But most of all I want to be rid of medicines, cpap and know I will have a healthy life to look forward to for my daughter but mainly for me.
  2. Just call the customer service number on your insurance card. I called every friday for 2 weeks then started calling daily on the third week and found out i was approved 7 days earlier. but it was not in the system until then. Also a letter had not been sent to my surgeon or me. So just call!!
  3. KF2007 hope today is better. Hope you can Get up and walk more. Take care
  4. Pejela UT Medicine at westover hills San Antonio. I am finishing up my day today at work and will be off 4 weeks. But I would like to come back in 2. How about you?
  5. TxTinana Awesome job! Feels great right- i lost 10lbs also as of today and we both started preop on same day. I kept thinking I have to lose something I don't want to show up on Monday and weigh in with same weight. What will they say lol. But 10lbs feels great. I notice i can lift myself a little better and even dressing is easier. I like the outcomes! Congrats to KarenLoh also a "Big Loser " of unwanted pounds! !!
  6. Tcon You are doing good. The days are going fast. Keep up the good work.
  7. I go August 10th also and it's creeping up!
  8. The preop diets are so different in both food and time frame. Not sure what the difference is. I can only think my surgeon wants his patients to practice what it will be like for the 2 weeks after surgery so he chooses the full liquids versus having shakes and small meal. I know he and his entire staff went through the 2 week full liquid diet so they would know what his patients go through.
  9. I buy the unjury protein powder in a container and always have a few packs of Jay Robb whey chocolate protein for on the go times. Yesterday i made my shake in the car i bought milk and got a cup of ice in the cafeteria. I would have never made it to 10pm without that shake. I also eat tapioca 90 cal or applesauce unsweetened when I am not going home i carry one with me in a small cooler bag. I have lost 8lbs so far this is day 10 of preop. Surgery on Monday 10th.
  10. Best Wishes all will go well.
  11. Check out post: Approvals with BCBS Federal
  12. my BMI was 38 at submission of paperwork to BCBS with diabetes , sleep apnea and high cholesterol. I worried too. I read bcbs conditions for approval include BMI 35 with comorbitities. Mine took about 3 weeks and I received an approval for the 1 day hospital stay about 1 week before the approval was made for surgery. Also I called them often to ask. Best of luck!
  13. Day 9 and today I put out a picture of myself at 135lbs and my daughter to remind me that i can do this and how much I am going to enjoy all the future events with my daughter - starting with college graduation in May 2016. I will take pictures this time I have maybe 1 picture with her at high school graduation. Only 4 more days and surgery on Monday August 10th.
  14. Congrats!! I am so happy for you this part is over. This time next week i should be post op too.
  15. I am on day 8 and its hard but I know what i want. I still need 6 days to go more than half way there. I just finished cooking some fajita for my husband and enjoyed the aroma but didn't even think twice about not eating it. It is only 2 weeks and it can be done. You can do it too. I found some good products and make fixing my liquids fun. I bought new measuring cups 2oz each in different colors and pretty mugs for my protein shakes. I get on this forum and read the posts. Stay busy. Focus on the reason why your doing the diet. Good Luck
  16. Tell us more about post op when you get a chance. After surgery I guess we will start posting on the post op forum. Hope we all keep in touch.
  17. Truepassiondiva I am a go for August 10th. How are you doing with preop. Just one more week and new life!
  18. Good luck to you babbs2299
  19. I am on 2 tablets a day Metformin 500mg. I eat less than 700 cal per day on pre op. I use the fitness pal. On a full liquid diet with 2 unjury or Jay Robb shakes per day with 4oz skim milk and a scoop of ice & add pack of splenda. Limit to 1 serving of creamy chicken soup 1/2 a can per day and have sugar free pudding and jello and light yogurt yoplait. It is tough but thats what I have to do. I want to be rid of diabetes and sleep apnea / cpap. I keep thinking just 7 more days and I am looking forward to puree 2 weeks post op. Good luck
  20. Avoid prolonged sitting in car. Like a trip. Blood clots are always an issue. Driving to Errands or MD appointment should be fine if you feel GOOD.
  21. Sugars have been holding at 99 in AM & bedtime since starting my preop diet. I check my sugar faithly each day to be sure it doesn't get high or too low.
  22. I started preparing for the days after surgery by cleaning house and finding products that are good tasting and on the diet plan. I found a Pacific Turkey Bone Broth with rosemary, thyme and sage. It comes in a small paper container with a twist off cap. 35 calories 9g protein 0 sugars 0 carbs. This does taste good and has saved me when I wanted something that reminds me of real food flavor. Also a Campbell's creamy chicken soup on the go. It has bits of chicken but I strain them out and eat half like a meal. Calories 65, sugar 0.5g, protein 3g and carbs 4g. This is also good. Each day I drink 2 unjury or Jay Robb whey chocolate protein shakes with skim milk and ice - makes it like slushy. I meet my 60g plus of protein. SF pudding & light yoplait yogurt (no fruit pieces) are my other snacks. It took a while but I found options and this has helped me so much.
  23. Artina 1970 How are you doing. Has the pain resolved?
  24. August 10th for me also.
  25. My surgeon's office is next to my pcp's office so I saw pcp copay 25 for 3 supervised weight loss visits. They had to be at least 30 days apart no sooner and it could be a few days over. They filled out a form the surgeon gave me. I also had a nutritionist visit - no copay. I have BCBS Basic. I had EGD - 100 copay for hospital and 200 for surgeon and the psychologist eval. 35 copay. All in the same office and connecting hospital for EKG & Labs.
