How are my 3/31 friends? I had my one month follow up this week. The nurse practitioner said I was doing well and have lost 15% of my excess weight. My goal for my three month follow up is 33%. They used a weird formula, my surgery weight - my ideal weight, take that answer and then divide into the number of pounds lost to date. Since I am 5'6", my ideal weight is 130 (which they acknowledged was too low, the surgeon said add 20 or 30 pounds and that is realistic) and I had lost 19 lbs since surgery, this was my formula: 255-130=125 19/125=.152

What is everyone doing for exercise at this point? I have been walking. I go to my 1 month follow up on Monday so I expect to get some more guidance about adding weights back in.

But you're much taller than I am so those calories are probably good for you! I am not expert. I'm not strict on the calories, but that is what I have noticed my trend to be in myfitnesspal. The only thing I am very strict on is that my carbs cannot be over 50, those are doctor's orders. And I have chosen not to add any fruit in, except every couple days I'll have a 1/3 cup of Weyman's blueberries, cherries, and kale frozen mix in my Protein smoothie. I have to say I really thought the weight loss would be faster than this. I too lost more quickly pre-op. But I did check with my surgeon and I am going to stick with what she says. This is a common topic in my hospital's FB support group. Everybody thinks the weight is going to come right off. I was really hoping for 20 pounds a month but that might be unrealistic. My body really is fighting me to keep this fat!! I think maybe it's confused, with the surgery and the low calorie and carb levels.

I got so sick of chocolate and vanilla shakes that I started using a scoop of unjury unflavored with 3/4 cup of milk mixed with a dannon light and fit greek blueberry or strawberry yogurt.

I was soooo tired Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I think I was a little dehydrated. I started drinking Powerade zero to hopefully help that. I am weighing every couple of days. So far I have lost 17 pounds since surgery, which I think is kinda slow but my surgeon said typical first month loss is 15 lbs. I am eating around 550 calories a day.

I am on soft foods too. I have been having a protein drink for breakfast, two small thin slices of turkey and some cheese for lunch, and an egg scrambled with ham for dinner. So far, so good, although I ate my egg too fast last night and it hurt!

What kinds of foods are you planning for puree/soft? Has anyone been keeping track of food stats in myfitnesspal? I was amazeD at how many carbs that measly little half cup of refried Beans had. My doc told me to stay under 50 carbs per day and they put me over. But I don't subtract anything and use net carbs, just total carbs. Any thoughts on the net/total carbs?

Sorry Sunny, I bet you are sick of liquids! I am on puree but I am eating things like tuna and mayo, refried Beans with a little cheese on top, and I tried a soft cooked egg last night but it didn't sit right with me.

I'm doing pretty good. I had my one week follow up yesterday and the nurse said everything looked good with my incisions. I found out I was taking my Vitamins at the wrong time so I am correcting that today. I have been sleeping on my side since about day 3 and it is getting easier. I still worry about pulling my stitches though. I have been drinking Chike Protein powder and I think it tastes pretty good. I do a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of vanilla in a cup of skim milk. I think it is higher in carbs than other brands. I am so tired today! I have been pretty active, running errands and going all over the place. Today I decided to stay home and sit on the couch with a blanket!

Red0413, your recap is exactly like mine! Day of surgery I was fine, a little pain, but I got up and walked and walked. Second day was horrible! I cried most of the day and felt I made a HUGE mistake. The gas pain was about the worst pain I have ever been in (and I have had 2 c-sections) and I walked and walked and took gasx strips and nothing would make it go away. That night, I got discharged and finally passed gas! I felt some hope! Third day I was still having a lot of pain with hiccuping/burping but I felt so much better. Took me a while to get into my vitamin/pill/water/protein routine, but I figured it out. The last three days have been great. I have been out and about, got my hair done, shopped, etc. Had Easter dinner here today although my mom did most of the cooking, I helped out. I am feeling like I am getting my energy back.
