  1. Lol, thank you! I decided to be happy this year! You only get 1 life, so we all should live it being well and doing what we want. I've been unhappy for far too long and I'm tired of it.
  2. Just some random thoughts... So I'm excited and stressed... with excitement! After searching for months I was finally offered a new position in my home state, Massachusetts! My last day at my job will be next Wednesday on 5/20/2015 and then I hit the road shortly after. I'm still not sure of which will be leaving but I at least want to be in Boston by Memorial Day. In my opinion, there is no point in prolonging my time in Colorado! I can't wait to get back to the East Coast and to city life again! But I'll have to find a Bariatric support group and follow-up doctor in the area (which should not be difficult at all). So if you have any suggestions, please feel free to let me know. On another note, I went to my 6 week post follow-up appointment today. Apparently I'm on target and cleared to eat all foods! Yaaay... kinda. Lol. I have been able to get all of my Water and Protein in but hardly any fruits and veggies. She suggested that I eat more often and change my protein portion sizes when I have a meal. Hmm. My response back was that I may not fulfill my protein requirement if I lower my protein (meat) intake. I asked the dietitian about this and she assured me that I'll be able to eat more as time goes on and suggested finding protein in things other than meat. But I don't know. It's easier for me to have a 3 oz piece of salmon or chicken at 20+ grams of protein at lunch or dinner opposed to have less an eating more throughout the day. I'll consider it, but still on the fence. Next, I went on a roadtrip last weekend. It was my way of seeing this region of the country for the first/last time ever. I have no plans to come back and visit this area again, so I figured I'd drive, hang out, and take photos of everything I saw. I went to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, The Four Corners, and the Grand Canyon (FINALLY!!) and it was gorgeous! I took awesome photos, got plenty of rest, talked to strangers and stayed at 2 very different but cool hotels. So, yeah. it was the perfect way to say goodbye. Colorado, its been.... interesting,
  3. OK, I want to change my goal! My original goal was 260. Today's weight is 258!! Yaaaay!! @@steph could my new goal be 250? I really want to push myself and see how close I can get to my goal by Memorial Day. Thank you!
  4. I agree with you. I've never been a long distance runner. I could always do quick short bursts (base to base) but running can be a new goal. I've heard wonderful things about Couch to 5K. Worth checking out. I've even bought a bike that I haven't ridden. So many ways to get and stay fit! 5Ks are an excellent start. I feel inspired!
  5. I am a little nervous but very excited! I have been wanting to have this done for the past 5 years but insurance did not cover it.My insurance didn't cover it either. I was self pay which sucks. I took out a medical loan and was only approved for $8433 which left me with about $2000 to pay on my own. Of course debt sucks but it was a matter of saving my life. And I'm so glad I did it! The nerves will go away. I was only nervous the morning of surgery. My mom had come to town to stay with me for the week. As I was being prepped, meeting my nurses, saw my surgeon, and my anesthesiologist I started to worry. I told my mom that if I didn't come out of it alive that I loved her and to tell my dad the same. Dramatic? Yes I know. But I got a big case of the "what ifs" just before being wheeled into the operating room. And before I knew it, the surgery was over! I was told that it went well and that was it! I stayed in the hospital that night and was midday the very next day . What are you most nervous about?
  6. Congrats! How are you feeling? The big day is quickly approaching!
  7. Aww! That is so sweet! Congratulations to you both, but especially to you for taking control of your health and trying something new! You've got this! Take pics and have fun!
  8. Im at 263 today. Thank you!
  9. Here's a pic of the tenders I made last week from your recipe!
  10. Hey! Tomorrow will my 5 week "Sleevaversary" and I'm noticing some changes!
  11. At my 2 week follow up, which happened in my third week, I was told to consume 700-1000 calories. I told my doc I wasn't getting anything near that. I average about 500-650 calories. He told that he wasn't too worried but to focus on getting between 60-80 grams of Protein and my Water requirement. I suggest asking your surgeon or nutritionist for what is best for you.
  12. I completed my first Body Pump class tonight!! I loved it and plan to go back again on Wednesday!
  13. TMI.... When you suddenly have a baggy bra!! I can't believe it. But it is true! The sides gap outward! Hallelujah!
  14. I bought the Jawbone UP and like it. It tracks my steps and sleep. It also syncs with My Fitness to collect my food info. And MFP collects activity from Jawbone. I considered getting the FitBit but am cheap! Lol. My Jawbone UP was only 44.99 and fits anywhere on my clothes. You can also buy a watch band and wear it on your wrist. Oh! And it gives you tips on your progress.
  15. Good Morning, I'm at 266.5 today ????
  16. I was fine. I slept on my side the same day I had surgery. Pain is individual. I was totally fine.
  17. Exactly! We all lose at different rates. We should never compare our weight-loss to someone else's. That can be depressing. Instead be encouraged by any weight you have lost so far. 15lbs is fantastic! Congrats
  18. WHOA!! Congratulations! That is awesome. You have inspired me go keep going and to set milestone goals to keep me motivated! Thank you and KEEP IT UP!! ????
  19. That is awesome, @Domika!! I live in Broomfield and frequent the library. I will go find on FB now!
  20. OK! I made the coconut chicken tenders recipe!! DE-LICIOUS!! I wish I had made one of your dipping sauces, instead I used half a tablespoon of regular honey barbecue sauce. This was a super easy, super quick, super tasty way to cook chicken! Thanks again! Oh and as for your cookbook or cooking blog, I would subscribe as well! I like @@jess9395's title suggestions. To add to the blog title, after it is a HUGE success and adapted to a book, I like "Real food for Life: Delicious Healthy Eating after Weighgt-Loss Surgery"
  21. Thank you for posting this recipe!! I copied, pasted, and printed it then went to the grocery store to buy the ingredients! I want to try making it tomorrow. I hope it turns out well. It sounds delicious!
  22. Not only are your pants loose and baggy, so are your underwear!
