    You exactly right a pallette is not a measurement of volume, and is a surface in which to load something. That is something we can agree on. But, what else are you going to put a ton of something on to, then be able to put said thing on a scale? My question still is how do you think a pound of something weighs less or more than a pound of something else? A pound is a pound! 16 ounces equals a pound no matter what it is! It may take more of some things to equal that one pound than others but it still equals a pound! So what I have been trying to explain is that it takes more fat cells (mass) to equal a pound (weight) than the amount of muscle cells to equal the same pound (again weight)! Therefore muscle is more dense than fat and gram per liter (mass) muscle will weigh more than fat.

    That is mass not weight! Yes muscle is more dense! So the volume will be different. It does take less mass of muscle to equal one pound. Compared to the amount of volume to equal one pound of fat. DENSITY DOES NOT EQUAL WEIGHT! A pallette with a ton of bricks will have less bricks on it, than a pallette with a of feathers on it!

    Muscle is not heavier than fat! It is more dense, therefore the mass that makes up 1lb of muscle is less than the mass that it takes to make 1 lb of fat! I see this all the time, 1 pound is 1 pound. Yes the losing of inches is the depletion of fat cells, and if you are workingout (lifting weights) then you are building muscle which is where the scale stall but inches lost comes from. Good job on the weight/inches lost, keep up the hard work all!

    drink Soda after surgery?

    I have to admit that I have "had" soda since surgery, I pulled a "Bill Clinton" I took a sip just for the flavor, swished it then spit it out. Hahaha set myself up for some jokes there. But seriously just wanted to see if my taste for it had changed, it had and now it really does not bother me to be around it. My wife drinks Pepsi Max still and every once in a while my head says I want to try it, but, I don't because that was one of my many vices that made me unhealthy.

    I am also a HS athletic coach and work out with my team during drills and when they have to do pushups... also I am getting ready to move out of stat so getting the house ready to sell and move I am VERY active!

    I lift and do cardio 3x a week in the gym and live an active lifestyle outside the gym. Cardio: elliptical training 3 miles at 8-9mph (still leary of running on the treadmill or on the road due to an old back injury but want to start soon). Weight training: Monday chest and triceps: Dumbell flat bench, incline press, 4 sets of 8-10 reps 15 push-ups in between sets. Cable crossovers (3 different angles: high, level, and low) 4x 8-10 reps Triceps: Cable push downs(Z bar) 4x 10-12 Cable push downs (rope handle) 4x 10-12 reps French press (skull crushers) 4x 10-12 reps Bar dips 3x 10 reps Core work: crunches different varieties max reps Cable twists 4x 50 reps (both sides) Lumber jacks 4x 50 reps (both sides) Planks 1:00 Wednesday back, biceps, and shoulders.     It was 4 days for me, and it took me having to take Mira lax to work. It was as solid like chalk from barium you take for the upper GI

  11. No Problem! I am a big proponent of Max Muscle Nutrition, they educate you on proper nutrition and exercise to help you fulfill your training goals. They also don't force products on to you. Just what you may need to succeed. Good luck on finding something you like, there are a lot of good flavor options. I am a purist chocolate maxpro with PB2 and a 1/2 of a banana with almond milk (unsweetened of course)

    I fit in my 16 y/o son's size 36 pants! He wears 2 sizes bigger so he can wear shorts under them.
  13. My ultimate goal is just to be healthy and active. I have WAY too much muscle mass to ever look at the BMI standard so I am looking at my body fat to muscle ratio. I want to be in the low teens for body fat. Right now I am about 22% right now at 255lbs. I want to be able to be active in my childrens' lives and be able to show by example how to live healthy and actively.

    What is in YOUR "SnackBag"?

    Beef jerky, extra protein powder, cheese sticks, almonds and "Spits dill pickle" sunflower seeds. Sometimes I have an occasional protein bar.
  15. 6 months out and if I feel hunger, drink water first to see if it is actually hunger or if I am just thirsty. The gas does take some time to get completely out and will sound like you stomach is growling but probably not hunger growls. I also did not "feel hungry" till about 2 or 3 weeks into eating real food.

    Anybody not saggy?

    There will be some extra skin, it takes 2 years after you have stopped losing for the elasticity of your skin to "snap back" as much as it can. As others have said exercise exercise exercise! But make sure you do weight training as well so your muscles can fill some of the void that the fat used to fill! That will help, eat high protein foods, foods with the omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in them and hydrate. This will help with the sag. But by no means is this a cure all like the others said genetics and age have a lot to do with it as well and how long you had your skin stretched out b/c of being over weight. I have lost a total of 140lbs from my HW and have some loose skin in my belly and have small bat wings but I am only 6 months out and I lift weights 3x a week and do physical stuff all day. I do notice my muscle tone more now than ever before. Good luck to you!
  17. It sometimes will be a daily mental and emotional battle! One that you will have to win! You are in charge of your mind and body, not food or your cravings! Set your mind to staying on track, don't give in to the temptations. You are just a week out and you are trying to force real food down? Not a good idea! You should be on full liquids only at this point. You have a chance to change all of the unhealthy ways that got you to where you were at. Do not go back to old habits and expect things to be different now, you have to work hard at staying on the plan, it works. Today get back on the wagon and next time s craving hits remind yourself how bad it felt the last time you indulged. You can do it, you are stronger than the cravings.

    At any time since the pics and stats did you back up your phone to your computer? Suggestion for the future back it up on your computer, the cloud, or some sort of flash drive.

    Don't drink soda, it's bad mmmkay! Seriously soda or any "sparkling drinks" are not recommended to drink post-op. The carbonation will fill you sleeve and will take away room from valuable nutrition, also it could cause your sleeve to stretch. There will be some on here that still indulge in them but as a rule you should stay away from carbonation for at least a year if not more.

  22. Hahaha no we man are A-holes to each other and are not ashamed to tell each other off. But, women are just catty and mean especially when it comes to another woman looking "good". They may feel threatened by your "new" physical attractiveness.

    Journal your food intake, you are working out a lot and my not be giving your body enough fuel! You may want to up your protein intake before your second workout of the day. "You can't race a car with an empty gas tank"!

    Remember the scale is not the only sign of your body changing! Measure yourself: neck, bust, hips, waist, thighs, and arms (at the bicep and forearm). See how much looser your clothes are fitting... there are a lot of NSVs out there if you look for them even if your are in a stall! The other posters are right this is more mental than physical, stay positive about the path you are on and axe the habits that got you to your old ways. We all fall off the wagon every once in a while but just get back on and keep with the program. 6 weeks is normally the sweet spot where the weight will start just melting away! Keep up the hard work, you can do it, you are stronger than you think!
  25. I am an athletics coach at a local High School, all of my co-workers and athletes are men or teenagers. I have coached with these guys for 7 years and for all the years until this last October I weighed north of 375 lbs and as high as 397lbs. I coach the offensive line for the football team and looked the part. Now that I am 140lbs lighter they bust my balls all in fun (because that is what we do) keep saying that I am too small to be a line coach and I now look like a wide reciever and need to coach that position. Everybody I associate with is very positive and supportive in my path to being more healthy and give me nothing but positive feedback on my success. We spend a lot of time together on and off the field and they see the real struggle that I have dealt with prior to my surgery and the success I have had since. Surround yourself with a circle that is positive, uplifting and supportive. Ignore the ignorant comments made by uneducated people. They are not worth your time or energy. When you stress over what they say you just give them free rent and space inside your head. Good luck with the co-workers and if all else fails remember today is "Throat Punch Thursday"!
