  1. I have Crohns. I had the sleeve 10/25/15. I have been amazed at how much better mine has been! Much less nausea, less pain, etc. never really anticipated that. I think the sleeve is a good option with any type of IBS, as it leaves your intestines alone, lol

That is great news! We love cruising!! Thanks! I do, as well. I'd almost live on the ship. The downside is that food on the ships is not geared towards people who have had wls. Yes, they do have things like fruits, etc., but for a wls diet, it's hard to manage food. I come back from a cruise and can't even look at boiled eggs for a month! Rofl

    335. Just got off a week on a cruise - so I may not have lost, but at least I didn't gain!
  4. I had the same issue. Nausea hit around 3-4 weeks out. Similar, I was on Nexium long term preop, it was the only effective medication. Post op, surgeon put me on Protonix. I used Nexium for a few days when I was out of Protonix, and was amazed, no where near as effective as Protonix now! Might be time to change up the PPI. Good luck!
  5. Mix the mashed pinto beans/refried beans with taco seasoning (mild) and melt a little cheese. It's like eating a taco lol
  6. My surgeon said with vsg, wl would be 10-12 per month on average. You're beating the average! Some months will be more, some less. As long as it's going down, it's great!

    I found a good protein!

As an FYI, although $7 something at Walmart for Premier, there are coupons out for $4 off, making a 4 pack $3 something. I know several people who ordered coupons from shippers and were able to stock up (they are good until April, and they seem to put out new ones as soon as the old ones expire). Walgreens recently had them 2 packs for 12, so I was able to get them for $2 per 4-pack!
  8. For the first two months I could not eat anything with grease. I would vomit instantly. I'm almost four months out now, and I am continually amazed at what seems to 'swell up' in my stomach. I'll take a bite or two, and it feels like I'm going to explode! Raw veggies and any beans are the current culprits for that, btw.
  9. In 2012, I was sick and got progressively worse for two months, with increasing difficulty breathing. I went to the doctor five times. No one could figure out why I was having such trouble breathing. Finally, I went to the ER one night - I was to the point I had to sleep sitting up, and even then, would stop breathing. They figured out I had PE. After testing, they found out my lungs were over 50% filled and I had 3 in my legs at that time (DVT). They went through my jugular to put thrombolitics in my lungs and place a filter. They tried to sedate me, but I stopped breathing, so I had to be awake. But, everything was so numb, I felt nothing. Even with all they did, it was less than an hour. I had no history of clotting issues. My mother had clots, but it was not genetic, it was due to birth control in the 60s to control her cycle. Due to the severity of my situation, my hematologist suggests I remain on thinners permanently. This includes using injections when I have procedures done. Filters are effective, but only to a degree. As my hema pointed out, if something is flowing along a river and something blocks it's way, it just tries to find another path. If your doctor feels strongly enough about it, I'd consider it. They do know best in many circumstances, and clots are deadly. For me, I'd risk the simple procedure if it meant potentially saving my life. I've been there.

Try kale chips. You can buy them, but they are gross. Just buy some kale, mix a few tablespoons of olive oil and some salt. Parchment paper on a cookie sheet and a thin layer of the kale. Bake until they start to crisp. I had never eaten kale until after surgery - and I love this! It's a great chip replacement, as long as I get it crunchy (soggy is gross hah). Good luck!

  12. I ordered some in the fall, same time frame as a friend. We had the same issue - they got too hot and they "soured" so to speak in shipment. The chocolate was fine, but the strawberry seems a lot more sensitive.

I'm in! I'm going to set a goal of 319. I'll post starting on the 22nd!
  14. 342. Close, but no cigar with a 2.5 week stall.
  15. I was just about to make this same recommendation. Request your records. She is legally required to provide them. She does have the right to charge for them. You can then provide them to your psych. Take time to review them, however, as due to her attitude, she may have been less than forthcoming in her note writing. If she does not provide them in a timely manner, go to a lawyer and subpoena your records. If you can get a judge to sign and give a date, she has no recourse but to comply or face contempt.

    sleep

A few years ago one doc prescribed Xanax for this type of disturbed sleep. She thought it would help because even if you wake, it will have you calmed enough you can go back to sleep. I have four sleep disorders lol. And yes, it has been much worse since surgery.
  17. 3.5 months and sometimes takes me all day! Lol. It's very rich and 'solid,' so takes time - not like sipping on water.

I've been trying to find a new protein bar which is higher protein and lower far/carb. Many of the power crunch bars, as mentioned, are awesome. A new one I found is pure protein. 19 protein, 200 cal, 5 fat. Found them at Walmart and Walgreens.
  20. I am the same. However, I will have one or two hiccups when drinking something carbonated lol Many people lose weight on Topamax due to food losing taste, so there are actually a few wl drugs out there that have Topamax as a primary ingredient now. Post op, I cannot drink soda. I've tried it out a time or two. As I said, my Topamax did not impact the taste. I have not been addicted to the caffeine, either. However, Water, even with a variety of flavorings falls flat for me, because well, it's flat. It's the carbonation I crave. However, my tummy has said NO! It feels like someone hooks an air hose up to my mouth - very uncomfortable. Good luck, op. There are a variety of changes. However, we've all made them. Most, you will find are not as hard as you thought, because surgery results in fewer cravings, etc.
  21. Telling someone something is wrong (or insinuating such), but they will tell you in a month, is simply cruel. I would do as has been suggested. I would say it is not likely something that would put you/baby at immediate risk, as they would have to act immediately, but this is still cruel and uncalled for. Please let us know what happens.... Praying for a positive outcome.
  22. Very true, Erossi. What a person says or thinks about someone is more a reflection of themselves than of the person they are targeting - always important to remember that.
