  1. You cant take the hair and tooth loss back...if you are ok with dentures and wigs rock on ;)

If it were JUST hair and tooth loss, that would be one thing. But not getting sufficient Protein and hydration can lead to much more serious illness and even death. The reason the OP might feel "fine" for a while without sufficient Protein is that her body can live for a while by just eating up her muscle. Once her muscle is depleted and she no longer has any source of protein, she will weaken. Her immune system will fail and she could ultimately die. Protein is not optional for human survival.

my response was meant to be sarcastic

  2. By not following what you were advised...you will have that horrid beat look that you see people that have had this surgery and do not follow the directive given.

You are taking supplements and Protein because there is no way to sustain yourself without it...you might feel ok now but you are in for a world of disappointment down the road.

  3. Awesome!!! But dont invest too much! Just buy a couple to get you by...you will be out of the new clothes before you know it

Ok last night I took my sons to JCP for new jeans and as I was checking out the "bold" salesgirl says "Now we have the kids covered, what's Mom gonna do about those sagging pants she's wearring?" I just laughed. Haha. Yep I'm 6 weeks postop and down 44 lbs. Time to invest some $$ in myself. (Just a little).

No doubt this is soooo worth it all.

    Love it!!

  4. I was released to cardio and lifting 4 weeks post op

I have been going to the gym daily since January

If you are just starting an exercise habit...start slow and work yourself up.

Challenge yourself cardio on bikes and ellipticals or treadmill...either by uping your time or beating your distance in that time each week.

    Good luck :)

  5. My surgery was 7/22/15

The day of surgery was the worst for me...regrets, crying etc...but I could not have anything...no Water, no candy, nothing in my mouth but a swab for the inside of my mouth. My nurse assured me it was the worst and she too was a sleev patient and I will feel better after my leak test the next day.

She was right...I have had no complications...no issues.

I have taken no pain meds since leaving the hospital. I went back to work the 6th days after surgery.

I would not change a thing...I have followed every instruction to the T.

I think everyone is different and people have different tolerances.

  6. Frankly its no ones business but yours :)

I have only told a very select...in my family my mom and my bf. I did tell girls at work.

I made it my New Years resolution to get healthly...new job, new year new me.

So to the people that have noticed my weight loss have noticed as I have been progressing since January and know that I have been going to the gym everyday and eating low carb.

Its a totally personal decision and up to you who you want to share that with

  7. I too have had a great recovery. No complications at all.

The hardest part of the recovery for me was the first day after surgery. I was not allowed to have anything but a swab for my mouth of ice chips and mouth wash in it.

But after the leak test and i was able to get some liquids in I felt like a champ.

I havent taken pain meds since leaving hospital.

I went back to work 6th day after surgery.

    I am 3 weeks post op :)
