I'm finding that my overweight friends are the least supportive. I really didn't expect this. One of my most overweight friends responded by telling me that she had a good friend at work that had WLS and they are no longer friends because they have nothing in common. That really set me back. I didn't even know how to respond.

Go to Soma if you have one near you. If not it's worth going to a specialty boutique to be fitted properly.

My Dr. Said to stay away from anything with more than 5g sugar per serving

Thanks everyone for all of the advice. I'm post op day 6 and things are looking up. It's still a challenge to get all of the Water down every day, but the pain is almost gone. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can't wait to chew some food at this point. It's really funny, I read post after post before hand and still was unprepared for reality of what was to come. I've had my meltdown already and the "what the heck did I do" moment. I guess I just had to live it to believe it.

My starting weight was 210#. I'm 5'2". I had surgery 6/5/15. I lost 16# before the surgery and am currently at 187#. I'm losing about a 1/2# a day since surgery. I was expecting a much slower progress but the weight is falling off. My Dr has a goal weight of 130#. I'm so glad I strictly followed the preop diet. I think it's helping in my recovery.

Thank u! I'm currently experimenting with different temps. I think the cold is what's aggravating my pouch. How many and how often did u take the gas x strips?

They did, and honestly was trying to avoid them, but my husband just made me take a dose. I'm going to try to stay on top of the pain meds from here on out

I was sleeved 6/5/15. The first two days were virtually pain free and now today, day three, every sip I take feels a cramp in my chest. I have diarrhea and I'm worried in not going to be able to stay hydrated. Has anyone else had this pain with sipping?

They make posture belt/braces too.

I had my surgery today at 11:30 and I am so shocked at how very little pain I have! No nausea right now, but I haven't started my Clear Liquids yet. I'm walking and pulling 3000 on the incentive spirometer. I really just had to share this because its pretty awesome!!! I guess I was expecting the worse. I'm 5'2 #215, SW 195#. I followed a preop diet of strict carb/starch restriction to lose my weight. The Dr said by detoxing from sugars and starches and caffeine before hand is probably why I'm doing so well.

I found out he hard way that employers can chose to opt of out bariatric coverage on all of their plans. Apparently it's more expense premiums for them. I ultimately ended up changing employers for that and other reasons. Now I'm
On my 6 mo documented diet plan with BCBS and the coverage seems really good. I looked into outside policies but with all these crazy insurance changes I had to stay with my employer instead of purchasing a private policy. The cost just wasn't worth it. Good luck to you though! I hope you find a solution that works!
It's very true. Our insurance has a bariatric surgery exclusion. The company gets to pay lower premiums when they exclude certain things.

Mahickmore, you and I have the exact same stats! I hope I'm as successful as you've been. My surgery is 6/5/15.

Please let me know what you take when you have aches and pains? I was told to never take ibuprophen again. Ugh!

That's just horrible! I'm sorry you went through that.

@@haleylhs Wow, sounds like you are doing really well getting prepared! I like Premier Protein too, even the chocolate. I also have the Syntrax Nectar products and they are good as well. Good to know about the Centrum chewables, I have some bariatric ones now, but they were given to me by my NUT and I wasn't sure about ordering more.
Where do you get the Syntrex Necter?

Alternative to NSAIDS?

I finally discussed this with my Dr. And he said that the no NSAIDS forever rule is for the bypass patients. After 4 months I can take them sparingly. What a relief!
