  1. I'm almost 9 days post op now and things are great! I tire easily, but I'm able to take bigger sips at a time and i'm eating an ounce at a time with no problems. I'm also down 9# since surgery! Woohoo
  2. We'll, now I'm 1 week post op and things have changed. I've had very little pain but as of today my energy had dropped to almost ziltch! I'm really focusing on hydration and protein. My Dr's protocol allows soft high protein foods at this point so I'm glad to be off liquids!!!! It's so interesting how all of our body's react differently to the same procedure.

    Alternative to NSAIDS?

I finally discussed this with my Dr. And he said that the no NSAIDS forever rule is for the bypass patients. After 4 months I can take them sparingly. What a relief!

    Stomach pain

I wonder if it's one of your other pills bothering you? Talk your your Dr.
  5. I'm finding that my overweight friends are the least supportive. I really didn't expect this. One of my most overweight friends responded by telling me that she had a good friend at work that had WLS and they are no longer friends because they have nothing in common. That really set me back. I didn't even know how to respond.

    Bras

Go to Soma if you have one near you. If not it's worth going to a specialty boutique to be fitted properly.

    Italian ice

My Dr. Said to stay away from anything with more than 5g sugar per serving
  8. Thanks everyone for all of the advice. I'm post op day 6 and things are looking up. It's still a challenge to get all of the water down every day, but the pain is almost gone. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can't wait to chew some food at this point. It's really funny, I read post after post before hand and still was unprepared for reality of what was to come. I've had my meltdown already and the "what the heck did I do" moment. I guess I just had to live it to believe it.
  9. My starting weight was 210#. I'm 5'2". I had surgery 6/5/15. I lost 16# before the surgery and am currently at 187#. I'm losing about a 1/2# a day since surgery. I was expecting a much slower progress but the weight is falling off. My Dr has a goal weight of 130#. I'm so glad I strictly followed the preop diet. I think it's helping in my recovery.
  10. Thank u! I'm currently experimenting with different temps. I think the cold is what's aggravating my pouch. How many and how often did u take the gas x strips?
  11. They did, and honestly was trying to avoid them, but my husband just made me take a dose. I'm going to try to stay on top of the pain meds from here on out
  12. I had my surgery today at 11:30 and I am so shocked at how very little pain I have! No nausea right now, but I haven't started my clear liquids yet. I'm walking and pulling 3000 on the incentive spirometer. I really just had to share this because its pretty awesome!!! I guess I was expecting the worse. I'm 5'2 #215, SW 195#. I followed a preop diet of strict carb/starch restriction to lose my weight. The Dr said by detoxing from sugars and starches and caffeine before hand is probably why I'm doing so well.

    Help!

It's very true. Our insurance has a bariatric surgery exclusion. The company gets to pay lower premiums when they exclude certain things.

    Multivitamin Nausea

Try it without the B12. I had to really shop around before I found a B12 that worked. I use a liquid B12 that goes under the tongue and it works fine.
