Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge
Hello Fellow Bandsters,, Whatever catagory you feel you fit in, you are not alone. We are all on this WL Journey together!!!! I wanted to start thinking about next week. The new year has always aspired me to make commitments and try to do new and different thing. So I bring this to you all to help develop another challenge with a combination of other challenges so loved by all. NSV and Weight in one post. First Start Date, January 3,2006 End Date March 1,2006 Challenge is to list on the same post 1 new NSV (non scale victory) each week along with your WL stats. It would be helpful to date your entries. The reasoning is to keep all your stas and NSV in one place for you and others who are cheering you on to follow. By going back and editing/updating your orginal post we would be back to basic each log in. Rememberng the whys and our accomplishments each week. Something I know I forget sometimes. By the end of the challenge we should have a great idea of how it's going and a quick reference to where we need to be. If you are not yet banded - please join in and tracking your goals and accomplishments as well. This WL thing is truly a team sport and together we can acomplish more! ROAR!!!! Any thoughts, changes suggestions??? We have a week or so to refine it. COuld one of the moderators please sticky this? Debby

My Endoscopy Results 12/22/05
So sorry to hear what's happening (((hugs))) food for thought (without calories) Hey is there a way to find out the lot numbers on your bands. Each device is issued a specific number. Maybe it had nothing to do with the MD but the band itself???? There are medical recalls all the time. I work for a home IV company and we had a problem last year with a companies flushes, what a nightmare. Inamed would not be too helpful in making the connection for you I susspect?

Turtles and Thyroids
Vines, Hi I have been on Synthroid for almost my whole life, not that I am an expert but an MD who soes a two week rotation in endocrinology isnt either. Thyroid levels are very sutle and can mean very different things to different people. My rambling point - a specialist can and will take the time over time to regulate you properly for you. The generic for Synthroid is not a true generic formulation. People and MD's stay brand loyal to Synthroid for some reason. I have hachimoto's disease (hypothyroidism). I definitely spelled that one wrong. God luck to you with this - hopefully our thyroid holds to golden key to your wl journey. Hugs, Debby

low BMI before surgery - does it correlate with slow weight loss?
I'm not sure if this theory hold Water for me. My BMI was 36, 5'9" 246 and I'm 179 now 7.5 months out. Loss of 67 pounds. I can say, the last 29 are shaping up to be a B*****. Curious to seee how others fit ito the thepry. Great thread.

This is killing me!!
OK, I've decide Godiva sucks. Whoo makes this shit anyway?? I have three more days of chocolate ho ho ho and then back to my normal routine. I am not a failure, merely a mortal who's life revolved around chocolate preband, living with aweful temptation these past two weeks. I promise you my band sisters and brothers - I will muster the strengeth to find that horse, dust myself off, work my butt off (literally) and get my head back in the game. This is the first time in 7 months I have that out of control feeling and I do not like it one bite. I can't believe my whole life was like this preband. Enough BS, three more days and then back to me!!!!!!!

An exciting NSV!!!!
Congratulations to you!!!!

This is killing me!!
you guys are way tooo cute. Thanks for the encouragement. Just for the record - the chocolate was certainly not my idea. Yucky fruit cake that I would not think about in traffic would have been my choice. Chocolate free today!!!!!! I think it helped to admit in public this is a huge problem for me. Thanks guys.

Ahhhhh Mushies Ideas please
eggs although a favortie of other fellow bandsters are not good for me. Take eggs with caution. I am a soup fiend. Lobster bisque & pea soup are my favorites. Some of the people used the magic bullet in the beginning to puree everything. Banana's are my favorite fruit and it fills me up fast. Good luck to you and congratulations on your WL.

Update -91 lbs
COngratulations and take a bow!! You are amazing and on an incredibly successful bandster journey. Great inspiration to stay with it mentally. Thanks I needed that lately. I lose and plateau for three weeks. I think the WL is directly tied to my cycle. Crazy. But on the off weeks I need help with the head stuff.

My Husband finally noticed
My DH took the kids to my mom's house last night for dinner, I was at a work function. They were all flipping through digital pictures from our vacaton together in April at Disney. ANd my husband finnally saw the differences. My mom said, he was like holy sh#t, I can't believe this was 7 months ago. And some beautiful things. DH is never one to comment on my weight, hell he watched me gain 100 pounds and never said a thing. A blessing and a curse rolled in one. SO this was big for him. I called my mom on the way home last night on the cell and she gave me the scoop. When I got home DH was waiting up for me, there a midnight still in my suit - I got a slew of compliments. I asked where this was coming from ( I knew damn well but hey) he finnaly noticed and I'm estatic! (sp)

Do You Ever Wish You WEREN'T Banded?
I have to admit - at a few events in the beginning -I was mad at the band! I was lost not making a big party about the food. I was totally out of my comfort zone. they were a few tough days. Why me, why an I fat, how could I do this to myself, and shame for never finding the control on my own. I just went to a big Christening at a catering hall and I had a great time and the food was truly a sencondary thought for the day.

Surgery 12/22

Possible slippage
Hang in there!!!! IS not over - there could be other reasons. Good luck to you tomorrow!!!!! ANd even if it slipped - Jonathans just unslipped with little effort within a week or two. SO maybe just maybe it's not aweful news.
-
serial killer or computer programmer???
4 out of 10 and I even reconginized one - not good - I would be a horrible profiler LOL
-
My band has *unslipped*. :)
Happy dance for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kickin butts and taking names. This reuly is a family. And every family is nuts!

New and Screwing up
Hey Coco, New beginings are a beautiful thing! I agree with everyone elses posts. Take time to heal and solids will be in your future. Psych yourself out that this is a game and you are in total control, don't give the control to the food. I play keep away constantly. Keep your head in the game and kick some butt!! Success is just as scary as failure most times - take a chance for yourself! ROAR!!! P.S. there is no failures around here, just mere setbacks, dust yourself off and enjoy the adventure!
-
who else has done this???
I'm at 65 pounds and my youngest is 70lbs. Definitely a reality check. I can hardly pick him up any longer, few minutes tops. You're not crazy. Great reality check!

Lap band after RNY surgery
I met a doc recently at an obesity talk for nurses. Dr. Sapala. Does revisions and has been practicing in baitrics simce the 1970's. There's a tecniques that is patented under his name for bypass. Anyway he was also in the clinical trials for the band. He seemed bery knowledgable with the alternatives. Good luck on your journey

Hunger pains newbie question
Your not going to burst the band, however, your grazing habits need to be modified. Talk to your nutritiionist but I would say instead of food to graze try liquids first.
