  1. I am thankful for all that is good in people, for my family and my friends and I am thankful for my health. This time last year I was 246 pounds, my blood pressure hovered at 150 over 100 even with a high dose of BP meds. I was lathargic at best and overly happy to compensate for the pain inside. All I wanted to do was to eat, sneak a way to eat more and eat!!!!!!! This year, I have to say the food part of today sounds yummy but not all consuming. The people around me are not in the backseat to food this year (that sounds aweful) I have found a peace inside of me. A pride inmyself that was long buried. Whereever you are on your journey - I pray for you today to have a safe road filled with wonderful milestone. So Happy Thanksgivingto all!
  2. Great story!! You are truly an inspiration.
  3. There is an old saying bad news get told to 11 people on average and good news to only 3. Multipy the gossip factor, you have a bunch of people focusing on the negative. You never here, OMG she just got off her two week plateau. I am a 6 month bander and have lost 65 pounds. It has been an exciting, difficult at time and emotional road. I wouldn't trade it for the world!
  4. MAybe the US FDA has higher standards. I would ask Inamed and the FDA???? God I hope not.

  10. Not that simple: Research bariatric surgeon's in your area, they will have requirements for you to meet medically even before ythe surgeon's office goes for preapproval from the insurance carrier. There are some really good thread in the archives about this, surf this site there is a wealth of information Good luck

  14. I am found the person my husband married. I am more in control. Food is no longer the focus of my life. I feel sexy again.
  15. Well the competitive side of me helped keep me in check. Thanks for the Fall challenge. I started at 198 and wanted to be 179.9 I made it to 183. Down 16 pounds in total. Not exactly where I wanted to be - but sh*#@!!!! Close enough for me. I'm in a 12-14 and that was on target. Do we have a holiday / winter challenge going yet???? I really like having a place to check in with. Good luck to you all my fellow bandsters.
  16. Well it's nice to have another man around the house ( no offense Jack hehe) Welcome and good luck to you John!
  17. Very naked! in the am and in the pm going to bed. I usually do it twice to see what I get. My scale is 1-2 pounds more than the md office. I weigh myself tooo often and I think it dcontributes to my thinking on on long plateau's. What a head game.
  18. I find myself everyday doing this. For all those who are or did serve. Thank You!!!!! Thank you for your dedication to the rest of us.
  19. Take life slllloooowwww. The process is just that a process. Check with your md but my md said I could start walking for exercise (not the casual stroll) after a few weeks. But I was told no crazy heart rate workouts for 6 weeks. You just had major surgery. The body needs time to heal.
  20. I have controlled hypothyroidism. I'm on synthroid and have been almost my whole life. I'm not having any problems with being banded however, I know I'm on the proper dose of meds and have been for quite some time. So weight loss is going ok. Some good weeks, some great weeks and some not so good weeks, just like everyone else, I suspect. Good luck to you.
  21. Way to go!!!!!!!! Congratulations
  22. Wow Maccas sounded so chic. LOL
  23. Hey, just a quick thought. Why can't you decline medicare since you have insurance all ready. If you are still working or DH I think that maybe an option?????
  24. Kellie, What a great NSV - I can only image the feeling you had when your kids were cheering you on. The beginning of a whole new era.
