    Steroids for back injury

I called my surgeons office and spoke to a nurse who was downright rude about it. Practically scolding me for taking them, saying I could end up with a leak and back in surgery. She texted the surgeon who responded with consent for me finishing the pack. The only thing I was told to avoid was NSAIDS. I talked to the pharmacist etc. any way, I was very stressed after talking to the nurse

  3. I didn't realize that was the case for RNY. I hope you find a solution, yucky medicine is not fun. I am barely able to tolerate my chewable vitamin!
  4. I was taking the Prilosec whole from day one. I just need to take a sip of water first, then pill, then more water. No problems. Were you told not to take the pill whole!

    Freaking out, ease my worries

Do you have an "out of pocket maximum". Because of that, my total cost was supposed to be about $8000, $5k co pay for bariatric surgery, and then about three thousand to hit the maximum. I paid the copay to the surgeon, then got a call that I had a refund coming from them. Confused at this point. Waiting on the insurance and hospital to finalize everything

    Start tomorrow ????

Find ways to keep yourself busy! If I got bored, I obsessed about what I was not allowed to eat

    Weird pain

Are you taking Prilosec, or another heartburn med? I know my heartburn feels drastically different after the sleeve. Just a thought
  8. Finally broke the stall. Down 20 pounds since surgery, 35 overall. Also lost 10.75 inches. Now I just need to get up and start exercising!

      IcanMakeit

Yeah, I found it hard to get started with the exercise at first as well, but once you get going, it gets easier.

  9. I barely have enough energy to get through the day, how do you have enough extra to exercise??
  10. Slsgeek, I was sleeved 7/27 as well. Lost 18 pounds right away, but nothing for two weeks. I think I am shrinking as clothes are fitting differently, but it's so frustrating to not see a change on the scale! Perseverance is the plan I guess!
  11. Ok. So still frustrated with the scale not moving, BUT , first NSV--a dress that did not fit last week, is almost ready to wear. Maybe with some spandex, but soon!,

    1. sweettea

      sweettea

Well, you must be losing something - inches, or the dress wouldn't fit.

Sometimes the NSV is more important than a number on a scale. The scale isn't always 100 % accurate, and can go up or down for no reason, but the clothes ? Clothes don't lie. They tell the truth, so congratulations on your big NSV ! Keep it up !!!

  12. Really frustrated! I assume my body is in shock from losing so much the first to weeks, and adding the multi vitamin with iron didn't help, and the monthly visitor, but seriously, gaining a pound??

      jane13

I use to gain 3-5 from "Aunt Flo"!

drink, walk and stay away from processed foods (salt) and of course, don't add any salt.

Stalls are inevitable - you will have them and some weeks you will gain. stay the course :D

  13. I'm finding all sorts of sore spots on my body. No visible bruises as of yet, but they feel like they are bruised. I assume this is from the blood thinners, correct? How long does this last? I had surgery on July 27th
  14. Invictus

    this makes no sense.

I have mainly focused on getting in as much hydration as possible since surgery. Tummy does not tolerate protein drinks or yogurt very often. I was under the impression hydration was most important the first two weeks, but get in as much protein as you can. I hope I didn't make a mistake?!?!

    Any advice for "itchy" incisions?

I used an ice pack to numb the itching. Now I am using a cocoa butter stick to keep the areas between incisions moisturized. Last resort is Benadryl at bed time so I can get to sleep without itching all night
  16. All I had to do was registration paperwork, urine sample for pregnancy test, a conversation about pre op diet compliance and post op etc. with bariatrice center rep, then short conversation with anesthesiologist. Pretty painless, but time consuming

    Protein intake

I recently saw PB2 at Costco, huge jar of it.
  18. Just tried Fairlife chocolate milk. AMAZING! I only had a little bit because of the sugar, but it does have higher protein than regular milk. Just a couple sips was like drinking chocolate ice cream. It is also low lactose, so no discomfort, yet anyway

Is it with the other milk and choc milk in the coolers?

  20. I am 7 days post op. I have had a hard time finding things my sleeve will tolerate. Sick of clear liquids. Does heartburn feel the same as before surgery?
  21. I think I have a case of thrush. Gonna call doctor in the morning :(

So I do have thrush. Have to suck on a tablet like lozenge 5 times a day. Apparently they don't taste very good and might cause stomach upset :(. Also going to start taking probiotics

  22. From what I heard, they inserted a Catheter while I was under, so panties would have gotten in the way. Bra will be in the way of at least one incision
  23. I have tried cream of chicken soup the last three days. I love the taste, but my tummy doesn't. Cramps after eating a couple spoonfuls. Even tried lactose pill with it. Anyone else experience this and does it eventually go away? Really tired of clear liquids
  24. Out of the 300s. Will NEVER see that digit in the hundreds place again!

Not sure why the comments aren't showing up. Thank you for the encouragement! @ IcanMakeit, Invictus is the name of a poem I fell in love with in High school.

    First day of Phase 2

@@mmyers1962 I tried cream of chicken soup yesterday. The warmth and saltiness hit the spot, so I strained half a cup into a bowl. Got about 8 small spoonfuls in, even with waiting between bites. It's gonna take my brain a bit of adjusting to the tiny stomach. I put the leftovers in tiny condiment cups in the frig, got 7 meals ready. Fortunately my husband was willing to finish what was left, cuz it would have been a lot to waste.
