  1. I completely understand! The puree stage will come soon enough, and you might even get over your cravings.

All I was craving was mashed potatoes and pumpkin, and I haven't had either yet! My next craving is toast which I can have on my next stage. :)

I've been craving rice :/ and bread of course

I'm no doctor but week two I had refried Beans and egg whites I was over the broth I'm 5weeks out now and doing great started eating more foods and feel great and 40lbs down since op day. Small amount of Beans might do the trick

I need to try some yumm, congratulations!

  2. My Dr said I can have oatmeal & yogurt. I made oatmeal, almost soupy & I ate with a baby spoon. I was content for a good whole. Need a good Protein tho that won't leave a chalky taste...one that can go in Soup & shakes etc.

    yummy I love oatmeal !!

Thank God it not just me! I'm now 10

Days postop & I really want to chew something... Preferable not sweet!

ughhh yes Jello, Popsicle , the only salty options it's broth but I'm tired of that

  3. Get creative with some thick (chunk free) soops (sic). Squash, Tomato, black bean, seafood bisque, mushroom... Strain it and enjoy it. I loved this brand: http://www.pacificfoods.com/food/soups.aspx

    Avocado pureed with sour cream.

    Hummus.

Refried Beans with a bit of Water added to loosen them up.

Peanut Butter warmed in the microwave.

There are a lot of options and it's really only a few weeks out of your life. If you look at the big picture, you CAN do this. Reflect on why you had surgery and what your goals are. Let that goal be your inspiration to power through the tough times. You CAN do this, you just have to CHOOSE to do it.

thank you so much, you're right it's only a few weeks and I need to get those Soups omg they look so good !!

  4. OMG!!! I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE!!! I'm 8 days in. The broth is making me nauseous. I had to start making my own broth & even that's not working. I've started apple sauce & yogurt but im tired of sweet things. What to do?

honestly I called and told them I couldn't do this anymore and they gave me an earlier appointment for the surgeon so he can advance me but I tried mashed potatoes with scramble eggs and I felt like I was in heaven

Hang in there! This is prime losing time. Go for broth or non chunky soaps with a bit of unflavored Protein Powder. Months from now this period will feel like a distance memory.

    thanks i can't stand broth anymore !

Are you on soft foods/mushies? It doesn't have to be applesauce.... Thinned out refried Beans were amazeballs at that stage. Better with a little grated sharp cheddar!

    Clear Liquids until Tuesday

  5. Hmm...Interesting that you should ask this...I was told from the very beginning that rice was a "forever No-No"...and my nutritionist strongly advised the we implement "ricing cauliflower" in a food processor in lieu of any recipes we enjoyed that called for rice.

Amazingly enough, it is WONDERFUL. I'm barely a week post-op, so I'm in the full-liquid diet phase of recovery; however, I tried the riced cauliflower before my surgery--and I'll be fine with the substitution for the long haul.

I'd check with your nutritionist...to make absolutely sure.

wow mine didn't say rice was a no no for ever I'll ask when I see her on Tuesday but I wouldn't be able to live without rice , and everyone it's talking about the cauliflower rice I need to try it

  6. Dilute it down and add ice. Also check out some of the Protein drinks like Isopure Nocarb or Syntrax nectar.

thank you I need to go check those out

You can dilute it. You can try different brands. You can try different flavors. But, you have to get in your Protein.< /p>

When I was still on Clear Liquids, I liked the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. Early out I used them undiluted over ice. Now I add them to Water and/or Water and crystal light.

I also like Syntrax Nectar. In particular Fuzzy Navel.

Try protein Soups like ProtiDiet Tomato basil or creamy chicken or unjury chicken Soup.< /p>

    Try Premier Protein.

thank you I actually bought one that has 20g of protein in the super market and I like it

Try using the protein powder and then make as much watery mixture is you need. Maybe this way you can get it to a consistency that works for you. Remember the blender is needed for the protein powder to give it a good mix.

if I put one scoop in 8oz I can drink it but not in 4oz it's too thick

  7. 3 pounds in three days despite the swelling and IV fluids is great!!

Just follow the doc's orders and you'll be fine...

And come in here and vent when you need to..

    That's what we're here for!!!

Ughh I sucked on some olives because I wanted something salty and obviously spit it out ugh I can't wait till the dec 8th

My sleeve was 11/17. We are not going anywhere. Having a little thanksgiving at home. Nothing wrong with that.

well I'm not going to my moms I can't handle seeing people eat and I'm sipping Protein Shake

You got this. I have been feeling the same way. It is so hard not to think about food l,but you can do this.

so hard when everything around us it's food

  8. On the bright side, you've already started to lose weight...

Of course, it's not gonna be really noticeable yet...

At 3 days post-op you're still swollen and healing...

    But you're losing weight...

Stay on top of things @@scarlep

It's shitty and awful and all that...

    But it's worth it...

I promise you it's worth it...

that's right!! I did this for a better living and to be healthy I actually lost 3 pounds since surgery which it's crazy

  9. The chicken broth had too much sodium for me. I ate some of the Jello but for me the hospital's vanilla pudding was soooooo good. I was sleeved on the 16th.

the jello was too sweet for me I just drank Water and some broth

I can't even have pudding or anything but Clear Liquids for two weeks. I have to have Isopure drinks or other drinks with high Protein. I have never had nausea. Had a bum about day 3 I think.

i just want something to chew on at least I'm sick of liquids

I was on full liquids day after the surgery. I hated everything they gave me in hospital! The pudding was flavourless, cream of wheat I sent back with the person that brought it in. Even the Protein Shakes were naaasty. The only thing could manage was cream Soup. I was glad to get home.

i wish I could have cream of wheat, and cream soup omg it would be so much better

    ughh nasty right

  10. I just ate the jello... lucky u that u had crystal light i had a tea and horrible chicken broth. Is it normal that im not feeling nauseous at all. I keep hearing everyone is nauseous but im not feeling it. Sorry if this is tmi but has anyone pooped ok? My stomach is just moaning but still no bowel movement...

oh lord I had a diarrhea explosion in the hospital ughhh I almost didn't make it to the bathroom I was scare!!

  11. That looks yummy! I didn't get anything, not even Water, the first day. The 2nd day, when I could show that I could sip some Powerade zero, they sent me home. ?!?!? I didn't get any of that delicious food, um, liquid. Oh wait, I did get some kind of barium concoction to test for leaks.

you know what they tested for leaks during surgery which it's probably why I got to drink something the same day
