  1. I'd forget to eat a meal most days. Wasn't hungry, so lunch usually was remembered about the time I'd start thinking of what to cook for dinner.

Since you lost the part of the stomach that produced the most of the hunger hormone ghrelin, you won't feel hunger hardly at all for a little while, and while it may come back eventually it might not be as strong (it is to be hoped anyway). So far, that's what I've experienced.

I can drink drink all day because I get super thirsty just not hungry , hopefully it stays like that so I can lose weight faster

  2. I am 6 weeks post op and have been having some gallbladder issues on my right side. It's more up under my ribcage. You may want to talk to your surgeon or Dr about it. I just had an appointment with my surgeon today about it. We are going to leave it be for now, it seems to be getting a little better.

they would of find out during surgery right? But it only hurts when im walking or standing or if I stretch it around the waist I can't explain it I called the doctor I'm waiting for him to call me :(

yep...right side is generally gallbladder. Don't let it go. Tell your Dr, go get an ultrasound to make sure. You don't want to play around with the gallbladder. Get that bad boy removed if its giving your trouble.

    I called I'm waiting for a call back hopefully it's nothing :(

@@scarlep please go to the doctor.

I did not and ended up in the ER with cholecystitis and pancreatitis and then had to suffer for a bit because my gallbladder was too infected for surgery, and then I had it out 6 months post-op. After the VSG it was no big deal and I was back at work in less than a week and I have had no issues since.

I hope you feel better soon and please go to the doctor!

yea I called hopefully it's nothing but if he tells me to go to the hospital in going to go

  3. Instead of a starch, try eating a vegetable instead. What stage are you on? I liked really soft green Beans when I was on soft foods. I also like cooked cauliflower with cheese.

I need recipes, it's like my brain shut down.
My recipe? Go to the freezer section of the store and get Green Giant or other brand of frozen vegetables. Put them in your freezer. Pull them out and nuke them, following the directions on the package.

    Another of my favorite recipes?

If you are fortunate enough to have a Lee's Famous chicken nearby, go through the drive through and buy green Beans. Add a tablespoon or two to your Protein.

Added: you can also get prepared vegetables at Boston Market, and even some grocery stores.

I have some vegetables in my freezer not a lot because I'm the only one that eats vegetables my hubby doesn't, and my 1 year old only like broccoli haha, but I will try to incorporate more vegetables to my diet

  4. Today I'm feeling really depressed, I'm so tired of mashed potatoes :( idk what to eat anymore with my Protein (eggs, meat, fish) I miss my rice and Beans so much I know k can Beans, but I'm dominican we eat rice everyday and not being able to eat it makes me so mad :( 3 weeks and half post op

I sorta feel your pain. I felt the same way but I gotta tell you, I ate a li'l bit of rice, after a half fork full I was so grossed out. The feeling it left in my stomach…I don't know why but, that's what it did. It may be different for you, but for me, for some odd reason, the smells of foods and nauseousness has all come back. I'm to a point I don't mind it except that I stop eating and can't get full because of it. Still biding my time like the rest (4weeks out).
that's exactly what I'm afraid of, that's why I haven't tried rice because I don't want to feel bad the other day I had fried plantains well only two, and threw up :(

On several occasions you've mentioned being Dominican and eating rice and beans. I'm Mexican and we also eat rice and beans. Big deal.

When you did your pre-surgical research, were you not told rice was going to be a no no? Is eating rice REALLY more important than losing weight and getting healthy?

I loved rice -- any kind of rice. Now I don't, no big deal. I'm over it. It makes me feel horrible and I no longer want it. So instead, I eat rice and beans...without the rice.

Bring thin is a much bigger deal. I promise.

yes I know Mexicans love beans and rice, and I wasn't told I couldn't eat rice, but several people tell me they didn't have rice until they were 6 months post op and they couldn't tolerate rice for some reason, rice it's not more important than losing weight but if I can have some in moderation I would be happy :)

  6. You might want to try not thinking so much about what you can't have and focus on what you can have. Constantly thinking about rice is going to keep you unhappy. Some store sell cauliflower already shredded or riced. I've made quinoa using the seasonings I would use for rice (Goya sofrito and sazon), I then added my Beans and while it wasn't the same, it was satisfying. Even once you hit the regular food stage you're going to want to eat it sparingly. You need to start mentally preparing yourself for that. This is the part of the "lifestyle change" that comes with successful WLS.

I'm willing to try quinoa I just thought it was going to be the same as rice people say they can't tolerate neither , but I actually bought some quinoa

  7. I've been stuck in the same weight for the past week it's driving me nuts, every time I weight myself I'm either 261 or 263 I was sleeved 11/19 see today I have my monthly friend but it has been the same before I got it, I've lost 27 and 17 of those since surgery but come on I'm getting tired of not seeing the number go down I'm just getting so mad I feel like I did this surgery and it's not working :(

  8. How much do you 2-3 months out? I'm only 10 days out I'm just curious ! And can you eat pizza? Rice? Or kind of normal

I created a sort of new normal. I eat a most of the things I used to eat pre-op, but many things I don't eat. High on the list of things I no longer eat or very rarely eat are highly processed carbs like breads, white rice, and refined sugars. I didn't even have brown rice until I was at least 6 mths out. Some will eat the pizza toppings and leave the bread. I think I've had pizza maybe twice since I was sleeved 14mths ago. It fills me up too fast with not enough of a Protein payout to make it worth while.

They can also end up being slider foods. Foods to can eat easily but also overeat easily or lead to bad eating habits that cause you to gain or impede your losing.

oh no I def want to eat brown rice instead of white after I'm able to eat it, and pizza well it would be like once in a while like on a weekend but did you feel sick when you first tried rice? Or Pasta?
