I like eHarmony's system of approaching people but I'm not sure if I'm getting as many matches as I can. On Match there are 1,028 mutual matches within 20 miles of me. eHarmony gives me 50 within 30 miles. I'm not sure if eHarmony updates those daily?

I have created a profile on eHarmony and seem to like that one the best. I already got a woman exchanging questionnaires with me. I haven't uploaded my picture yet so that will end all communication. She's also kind of far from me anyways.

I took my picture and now I'm getting cold feet. Still thinking I may wait on this.

I'm working on creating my profile and thinking I should just come right out and acknowledge my weight and that I am losing weight. Part of why I want to meet someone is to work with me while I lose weight. Would that being appealing to women?

Thank you to the people who have responded. When I started this thread I didn't think I would be creating my profile now. I've poked around Match and seen I few women I would like to talk to. I did a reverse search and pretended I was woman seeking a man to get a feel for how guys present themselves. There definitely seemed to be more women than men. There were also a few men my size so I'm not the only one.

I was going to post a current picture. That was more in jest. Maybe if I get to know someone well enough I will reveal to them what I used to look like and what I'm currently working to get to. I'm just going to put in my profile my weight loss goals instead of hiding it. I'm sure there are women who are trying to lose weight and apprehensive about exposing themselves online. It almost feels like I'm encountering a wild animal. She's just as afraid of you as you are of her. I don't live in the safest area so site like Plenty of Fish just turn into prostitution rings.

I guess the next step is to determine what site to use. In some ways I prefer the pay sites. Hopefully that would weed out the trolls.

I found a picture of myself when I weighed 250 pounds. I guess I can show people what the finished product will look like.

I think I will create a create a real online profile. One good thing is I apparently carry my weight well as many people are surprised to hear I weigh over 400 pounds. Going to get a new outfit before I go online. Due to my size I tend to have clothes that do not fit well since it's hard finding clothes my size and I mostly buy online. I don't necessarily have issues talking with women. My best relationships at work are with women. I have a problem approaching women and showing interest. I get the feeling that if a woman senses I'm interested she will get offended that the fat guy likes her.

I would love to have just a female friend. I really only have one friend. He only weighs 160 pounds and has been skinny his whole life so he just doesn't understand what it's like to be big. He's also has never had trouble meeting women and has a live in girlfriend and is expecting a baby. I feel like we are drifting apart. Being single and not being able to keep up physically has hurt.

Not in a support group. I haven't had weight loss surgery yet and I don't intend to if I can manage my weight without surgery. I still have been looking into surgery. There plenty of things I would like to do but can't because of my weight. I don't particularly like to drink or go to bars. I would like to go to a movie but am concerned how I would fit in the seat. I like going to sporting events but know for sure I can't fit in the stadium seats. I like to bowl but as I've gotten bigger it hurts my back. That's why I'm waiting until I lose at least another 100 pounds before I seriously consider dating.

I'm not really worried necessarily about finding someone at age 30, but rather my inexperience is going to show and scare off women. I feel like there is more pressure as a man as I suppose I'm expected to lead the date and ask the girl out. Is this dated thinking?

I live in the Detroit area. Luckily it's one of the most overweight regions in the country so I'm not alone. I prefer online sites. I'm not a bar guy. I don't have any pick up lines and I'm not looking to score. I made a dummy account on Match so I could look around. I don't know what to say in a message to a woman. One of the hardest things for me to do is start conversation and it's the same with both men and women. I know if I message someone now she will see a 430 pound guy and my message will be deleted on sight. I was hoping to get to 300 pounds or less to seriously approach women online. That is likely a minimum of a year away so at least I can prepare before hand.

    Need help with exercise

I solved my bike issue. I placed a thick pillow on the seat. This raises me up about an inch or two so I'm able to get an additional inch or so of leg extension and am now able to pedal for 30 minutes without leg soreness. It also makes the seat more comfortable to boot.

I'm thinking a semi recumbent bike may work. I think with being more on top of the pedals would be better. I'm thinking of getting this bike. http://www.amazon.com/Exerpeutic-400XL-Folding-Recumbent-Bike/dp/B004O6TXVS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439340821&sr=8-1&keywords=semi+recumbent+bicycles

    Need help with exercise

I ended up getting a peddler. My only issue is that it moves on the floor. I think I can weigh out down so it stays put. Once I lose enough weight with that, I could probably fit better on my bike.

    Need help with exercise

My parents have a recumbent bike so I may give that one a spin to see if it is better. I found one that says it accommodates people up to 6'3. I'm 6'0 so that extra 3 inches may help in my larger size.

    Need help with exercise

My legs feel fine a couple minutes after I stop. I'm thinking I'm just too cramped because when I pedal my legs hits my stomach. I'm looking at bikes online and I can't really tell if they will have more room than what I have.

I don't have access to a pool. I work from home and being to exercise in my home would be the best option. I do like swimming. I'm sure there is a pool near me but it is not as practical as being able to exercise at home.

I'm looking to get a lap band surgery. I have gained a significant amount of weight over the past 7 years. My weight has gotten up to 470 pounds. Some of the reasons I am considered lap band is I hate surgery. The lap band seems to be the least invasive and I'm not comfortable with surgery that removes part of my stomach. I do like the fact it is adjustable and can be reversed if needed. Everything I read is from doctors or people who have not been overweight. I am hoping to hear from people who have had or are considering other options. Just 7 years ago I weighed 240 pounds. I'm still discussing with my doctor about possible reasons I have gained 230 pounds in 7 years. The risks of surgery can't be worse than the risks of being this heavy. At 30 years old I'm already having to see a cardiologist due to high blood pressure and am on blood pressure medication. My doctor said I had a fatty liver due to my weight and I have plantar fascitis and gout among other things. I only eat two meals a day but they are pretty large meals. I don't like to cook and eating small meals during the day may appeal to me. I do like to drink a lot of diet pop. That may be a struggle to give up pop. I just don't know what to do. I feel like something needs to be done and soon.

I have not seen an endocrinologist. In 2007 I had my gallbladder removed and weighed 240 pounds. Even though I was overweight, I still rode a bike 30 minutes a day, walked about a mile a day, and was very active. Since then, I have nearly doubled in weight. I'm having digestive issues as well as my bloid pressure so my doctor and I have been focused on that. I plan to bring up weight loss surgery on my next visit. I just started seeing this doctor so she is unaware of my rapid weight gain.

I know giving up pop will be hard. I've been trying too move toward water. My fear is I'll feel hungry but unable to eat which will drive me mad. I only two meals a day as it is,but one meal could be 8 slices of pizza. How long does the full feeling last? It seems like I can eat and 15 minutes later I'm ready for another round.
