    Food Issues

I am 3 weeks post op, hate every bit of food I put in my mouth, cant keep food down and everything makes me sick. I live on less than 500 calories a day and have not lost weight for a week, I regret what I did and now I have new issues with food, I loved it, now I hate it, I hate protein and I am not losing any weight and have constant nausea, what now? has anyone gone through this?

    Note to self 1

Just remember who you are and what it took to get here. Nobody ever told you this would be easy and you have not done this for everyone else, you have done it for yourself. When nobody comments that you are beautiful or you look great, it is because you are beautiful and you look great. When the weight doesn't fall off, relax and focus, it takes time. Enjoy your life as who you are, not as who you want to be. Embrace every new ability and remember the joy it gives you. remember when you would lift your arms over your head and your face turned red, wow, not any more. remember when your hubby tied your shoe because you could not bend low enough to tie it, not any more. You are a smart woman and you have to learn to be happy with who you are, never let anyone make you feel not good enough. Work gets hard and women get jealous but you are still you and if it becomes time to move on, your not going to lose yourself in the process. Keep a cool head, warm heart and stay focused, I love you.
  3. almost 3 months out and stopped losing, i am so frustrated and tired.

  4. Hey 8 weeks out, can't eat or drink without invoking a gag reflex. I had to get hydration therapy 2 days ago which made me gain weight and I have not lost weight for almost 3 weeks now. Doctor said I lost weight but could do better... Are you kidding me???? I can't eat or drink and I am sick all the time and you want me to lose more??? HOW? I go in for an ultrasound today gallbladder may have to come out. and then another upper GI on Monday. Has anyone else been through this? I am trying so hard to remain optimistic but I am starting to get upset about this whole decision. Please pray for me to have patience with this process. Wow I thought i would feel better. sad.
  5. Gas was the worst but I walked right away to go to the bathroom and down the halls. I walked alot because the doctor told me beforehand that it would help with gas and it did. I used the pump like twice or 3 times and the first night they already took it off because I had gone so long without it. I still have pain at weeks post op but I had a hernia repaired and think it might be from that.

    Confused by this feeling!

@@TammyDTM, I was told it could easily take me that long to eat and that it is very normal. I think because protein and calories more important at this point, I have all day and night to drink. That comes from my doctor so I feel right on track.

    Confused by this feeling!

@@Hertsukfem31, I feel that 100% I actually cried because I wanted to eat myself into oblivion, that is so wrong!!! I am learning though slowly but surely.

    Confused by this feeling!

It is so hard to help someone when they have these problems because we are all so different but in many ways we are all the same. I read stories and see myself in every one of them, I hope those that feel ill start feeling better and if you look around, you may be able to help someone else going through the same issues. I did regret what I did but I am learning to not regret it and accept it. Love to you all.

    Confused by this feeling!

@@Hertsukfem31, I know it seems so hard but the more you try to push yourself, the better you will do, I went to work after 2 weeks and I just went to bed at about 7:30 but I made sure I did my protein and took water to bed with me so I could sip each time I woke, I do still feel sick but... I know it is so hard, so so hard but it gets better really. I found a protein drink at costco for 18 dollars premade in little cartons that were 30 grams each. Choke 2 down and you are golden! , I just try to make it a game now because food is of no interest to me.

    Confused by this feeling!

I'm 4 weeks post op and still eat about 4 tablespoons, I do not measure my ounces because when I do I get depressed. I just try to eat my food in small bites and sometimes it can take me awhile to eat. I try to eat scrambled eggs with some cheese which is really 1 egg and about a half ounce of cheese and it takes me about 40 minutes to eat it. I just focus hard on protein and water and try to make sure I get it all in. I feel full up in my chest too, not really in my stomach. I guess because I never felt full this is all new to me too. I think you are on track and doing well, I think I felt much better at 1 week and 1 day, so much so, I wrote it in my journal. Hang in there, it will change daily and you will start feeling better. <3

Make a list of all the things you enjoy doing to keep yourself busy. Reading a book, getting a pedicure, going for walks, playing a game, arts/crafts, etc. Turn to those things now as a companion. It is a huge adjustment, I know. It does get better and it does get easier. Be patient with yourself. :) <3

    I've stalled... Help!

@@Elode, that is so true, weird, I wake up each day smaller even if the scale doesnt move, seems impossible but I have witnessed it first hand, hang in there Sunflower we all took a long time to gain and I know it would feel so much better to lose it fast but after all the work, undergoing MAJOR surgery and still waking up each morning, you should celebrate every ounce, you have earned it! And DON'T SLACK, look what you put yourself through to get here, never forget it!!! ,<3

    Advice Needed

@@titan05, I don't know about others but I had no strong pain meds at home but the gas....ouch, I think I felt really good at 1 week and 1 day because the gas is in the abdominal cavity so it just has to reabsorb and getting enough sleep was hard at first.
  20. bubbles2015

    Leg pains. Can't sleep.

I would certainly seek medical advice because it could be so many different things including a blood clot, I would not hesitate to call the numbers your doctor gave you, I got several numbers before I left the hospital and have used them once or twice myself. Better safe than sorry

    I feel let down!

This was a favorite of mine while in the house due to the snow, there are tons of videos and they tell you the length of the walk, I have a little fitbit and that helps, just make it a game, I am 3 weeks post op and do the elyptical no pressure on the tummy muscles and its good for your cardio. I hope it helps. Good luck. I miss my friend too so I got new friends

    Anxiety

The tough part is it sneaks up on you. Just remember to control what you can like breathing, thoughts etc. You are so right, anxiety does suck!

Totally frustrated and don't know what to do

The six months will go by faster than you think and I was thinking about the things your hubby says. Maybe he just needs you to be fat and insecure and knowing that you are making moves to be thin he is scared that you will learn what you have known all along. you are a strong, beautiful woman with confidence. You are a super threat and maybe he needs you vulnerable, I think the way you have been thinking it through will be good for you in the end. I watched every youtube video I could find, the good, the bad and the ugly but I prepared and it sounds like you are doing that too, all of your appointments in these upcoming months will make you learn and become a pro Good luck lots of prayers for you and your family

    Eating too fast?

I'm 3 weeks post op and I take in about 3 tablespoons of food for a meal so I make it count. I did notice my last bite seems to come just before that full feeling (sometimes pain) so I try to go a little slower knowing my limit of 3 spoons.
