Safeway carries apple slices that are 30 calories a bag and 7 grams of carbs. That may be a nice alternative to a full size apple and apple slices go great with PB2. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App

I am 11 months out of RNY bypass and have done well. About 5 months ago my nut suggested PB2. I bought it, tasted it dry, and never opened it again. Yesterday, at work, someone on WW was talking about it and said you add two tbsp. to one tbsp. of Water and mix! I ran home and read the fine print, and there it was! Mixed it up, tasted it, and very tolerable! I can substitute it for the real thing and lots less calories and fat!!
Now my only problem will be finding ways to eat it without doing it just for an excuse to eat the carbs that might go with it! (carbs are still my nemesis). I know some will suggest apples (25 good carbs), but I need to stay away from the bread and pretzels..............anyone have suggestions on how to use this now that I've refound it? (not In smoothies, please).
I'd love to know how others are using it? How is the chocolate version?
    Thanks,
    Freelee

Thanks so much, yes this helps a lot. People keep saying, "but you'll loose more when you have plastic surgery....but I didn't think this is the case. Glad also to hear the encouragement about surgery at my age. It should be about feeling younger, not the extra few pounds. Thanks again.

It is disheartening to know that our bodies work so hard against us but it does make sense given how many times in my life I dropped 50 to 100 pounds through diet and exercise but those pounds always came back and brought some buddies with them too.
When I was young it was almost a game for me, I got good at losing the weight. What I did not see coming was how age plays into your ability to lose. I actually got to a point where I could lose tops 5lbs only to have it return and frustrate me. When I realized that i was doing more damage than good I finally threw in the towel when it came to diet and exercise completely. By then though a lot of damage to my bones and organs were in full swing. Ugh.
I have learned that there is no such thing as a diet for me. A healthy balanced meal that consists of good Proteins, vegetables and fruits in my diet is critical to my being able to maintain my loss. As I have just entered the maintenance phase in the last couple months I am still learning how many calories I can eat per day to maintain. For me, it is lower than most because I am also not physically capable of doing the exercise i would like to. Hopefully soon we will figure things out so I can get back to cardio daily which will allow me to add some additional calories.
I am sad for those folks who are obese and don't understand how this works. I am thrilled for the young folks who recognize they need to do something more permanent.
The only cure for obesity long term is WLS. I believe that to be completely true. I would argue those folks that go through WLS and dont take the time to learn good nutritional habits still won't be successful long term and they will continue to blame it on the surgery.
Obesity is an epidemic and it is quite scary. I seriously notice people more now that I understand the disease and I feel like our PCPs are not educated enough about obesity and the cure. When you are in a crowd of people just stop and take notice of those around you. There are very few normal sized people. Most are overweight, on their way to being obese or obese already. It's frightening.

I know it varies GREATLY and depends on many factors, but can you share how much additional weight you lost after having any skin removal surgery after your original weight loss surgery? I've lost 120 lbs after RNY 10 months ago and am beginning to wonder about plastics. But I am 63 wonder if it is worth the risks of another elective surgery at this age. Afterall, I'm not shopping the bikini department anymore! TT, upper thighs and arms would be my plastics surgeries of choice.

Yes, thanks for the comments. I am 4 1/2 months post RNY and am beginning very noticable hair loss. Plus my hair is very dry now. I've lost 65 pounds, so I'm still very happy. I bought a really expensive shampoo/conditioner at the stylist's, but not doing that again. Found some cheaper today at Sally's (hope it works better) and have been religiously taking my Biotin. I still struggle daily with getting close to enough Protein, so I know that's the problem, but I get so sick still from so many things.
I know this didn't help but I just wanted to join the conversation. Thanks for listening. And best wishes. It's a journey, that is for sure! So glad people are saying it grows back. Faith is the key.

Tonight is the epic POWERBALL jackpot of 1.5 BILLION dollars and chances are I'm going to win! You have to feel lucky to be lucky right? Anyway I feel like I've hit the jackpot because I've lost 97 pounds to date. I know I will hit my goal.
And if I don't win POWERBALL tonight, maybe this was the 4 MILLIONTH post on bariatric pal and I won all that cool stuff that Alex Brecher was talking about.

So many positives from my surgery. My outlook on life, energy, and overall happiness and relationships are better. I just went for my 6 month checkup and my blood work has come back better than I ever imagined it would! Seriously, it hasn't been this good so many years. I am so thankful.
Plus, I was sitting in an assembly last week and realized I could sit and cross my legs, forgot where I was and kept crossing one then the other! Had to tell my friend to look at what I could do after many years! Then we had the office party this weekend (where I had a great time as I sipped Water and had no food, I might add!) and when it came time to play LCR I sat at the table, noticed some were sharing chairs, so I said, "Hey someone can share my chair"! I couldn't have said that a couple of months ago.
AND in less than 7 months, I am down 90 lbs!
So yes, I am happy.......I am much more healthy day by day.........I have met amazingly supportive people on this site.........and I am thankful!

freelee reacted to Djmohr in Finally got new bras!
I have never had large breasts but certainly nice ones. I was a full C cup most of my life. When I was young and thin, my boobs always looked great, then in my late 20s I really started packing on the weight.
My boobs sort of disappeared mostly because my tummy got bigger and bigger.
Now, I have lost 134lbs and my boobs look good in a good bra but basically are empty. LOL!
About 5 months after my surgery I walked into a Victoria's Secret. (Secretly I coveted the idea of all those beautiful bras). At that point I had gone from a 46C with an extender to a 38c and honestly I could have maybe even gone to a b cup. LOL!
While there I found one of the best bras for giving me back my fullness. I have since spent a lot of money on beautiful bras and panties.
I do not miss my cacique at all,
Now if I could only find panties that give me some junk in my trunk! LOL, I literally have lost my entire butt. I have a hard time finding jeans that fit right because I have no butt, a 30 inch waist and unfortunately I have a lot of loose skin on my tummy that cause me to wear bigger pants than I need so I a, always hiking them up.
But, I would not trade my new thinner body for anything! I can always get a breast lift and augmentation, have them put a little junk in my trunk and do a tummy tuck.i have no idea how I will pay for all of this but by golly I will figure it out!
