I was ravenous after about a week post op. Protein Drinks were, frankly driving me bonkers. I was supposed to stay on a liquid diet for a month, I just couldn't do that- I managed 2 weeks. I'm now on the mushy stage, and happy with that. Like others have said - if you're still not hungry then lucky you, what's your secret?

I just used the word "scare-story" as an expression, Trish. You didn't scare me at all. It just makes me a little concerned. You've obviously been through quite a lot and I'd prefer to learn from other people's experience, rather than my own painful experience.

I keep hearing all the scare-stories about PBs. I've yet to have one (although I've also yet to have my first fill). Now, I'm ever-the-optimist, and I'm kinda hoping that given the right diet/eating method, I won't actually have to experience one. Are there bandsters, post fill, who have yet to experience a PB?

I have to say, like most people I had lots of reservations prior to my banding. I'd never had surgery, and didn't like the concept of pain, of course. I can honestly say that after the op. at absolute worst, I felt minor discomfort, nothing more than that. Now I'm 12kgs (about 26 pounds) down and I've not even been filled, yet. Everyone has the same concerns as you, Hedwig, you'll be fine!

There are some scary symptoms on this thread. I've been banded a month now and I've yet to have a PB - I suppose I'm more likely to after my fill. Is it really THAT bad? Surely there's different severeties of PB?

I've heard about you American women - You're so forward. Frankly, as a repressed Brit, it scares me witless! I expect at least a three-hour conversation about the weather before anyone mentions nudity. And, just before you stop me mid-rant... Male nakedness is just unnatural... Female nakedness on the other hand, is perfectly acceptable (i've got this wierd thing about scars on women too... I'm kinda sure I picked the right website).

In response to your question, yes, they did tape it up, and yes, it was a tad sore when said tape was removed. It's quite good scar camoflage, mind... I think I may have it permed, possibly dreadlocked.

Okay, well you did ask for it... Make sure you're not in close proximity with your milk. As you can clearly see, there's no shaving, yet you can definately see the scars (I was banded 8/23). I actually took this shot at my desk at work... There boss came in just as I buttoned-up my shirt - Phew! Just in time!

It means the site would be so unpleasant as to make drinking milk impossible. (no, I never understood that particular expression, either). Hope that's cleared things up... Personally, I'm more confused than ever.

I could post a naked picture, but I guarantee it would put you off your milk(!)

I'm an IT consultant. Computers and obesity seem to go hand-in-hand, sometimes. Still, it could be worse, I could work for a chocolate factory, or maybe I could be a professional Pizza Taster.

I have to say that, I had my surgery on August 23rd, and have yet to engage in intercourse. Now, that's mainly because I'm still trying to find someone to engage in intercourse with. However, if anyone asks, I tell them my celibacy is through choice. (it's my SECOND choice).

Things I am looking forward to... Cutting my toenails easily. Comfortably sitting in a "cattle class" flight. Wearing a suit, and looking GOOD in it. Receive a compliment on my appearance that isn't along the lines of "You have really blue eyes" Go to a fashionable clothes shop an buy clothes in sizes WAY below their largest size. Regain the confidence (and maybe cockyness) that I used to have when I was slim.

Thanks for your input, Kathy... You're right, my Austin-Powers-style chest wig more than adequately covers the new scars I've recieved.

This probably hasn't crossed the mind of many female bandsters, but doesn't the hospital shave around the banding area prior to the procedure? I thought they did with most operations? (never been under the knife before this, so excuse my ignorance) I've the same hairy stomach I've always had... I can hardly see where they've operated through a mat of curly hair. Andy P.S. I'm sure subconsciously, people think those who are overweight need to be "punished" for their lack of control. i.e. months of misery on a diet.

Thanks for the (much needed) advice. I suppose "consult your doctor" IS the obvious thing to do. Never-the-less, I might try some scrambled eggs tonight, just to see how I get on. What's the worst that can happen?

Hi everyone! Some advice needed, please. The standard diet sheet I was given by my doctor suggests I should not have soft food, or "mushies" until week 5. I've been on a liquid diet now for 2 weeks, and I really could use something a little more "food-like". Should I be able to eat some scramble eggs at this stage? Maybe a little bit of mashed potato? Your thoughts on this matter are greaty appreciated. Thanks!

That's some impressive weight loss! And you still look most attractive, too! In my personal opinion, some people don't always look better after losing weight, but you look fab!
