    Time Between Liquids and Yogurt

@@Djmohr I always wait with other food and never drink while eating either.
  3. So this is a rather random and specific question - do I have to wait half an hour after drinking Water before I can have yogurt? I've been getting up pretty early to walk every morning because it gets hot so quickly. I take my mountain of Vitamins with 16 ounces of water, wait half an hour and then go walk. I've realized though that I need to eat something with Protein and carbs before walking. However, if I do anything remotely resembling exercise less than an hour after eating, I get terrible cramps in my side. So, ideally, I would like to be able to eat some yogurt with my 16 ounces of water and vitamins. Is that ok? I'm very good about observing the waiting period between eating and drinking, but because yogurt is considered a "full" liquid, do the same rules apply?

    Time Between Liquids and Yogurt

@@catwoman7 they said to stop drinking half an hour before a meal and to wait 45 minutes after a meal. I'm not sure if if yogurt counts though since it's considered a full liquid, but my NUT is incredibly slow to respond to questions.

    Why Am I So Tired?

@@Hockeyfan well recently I've been walking for an hour. I'm not very fast, so I only do about 3 miles but it's definitely more than I'm used to. So it's not high impact, but I'm moving the whole time. I may try upping that somewhat but there's such a fear about eating too much, you know? Logically I know all the scientific stats about how more calories are often better, but I still get in my head about it.

    Why Am I So Tired?

@@James Marusek that's interesting! I was told I only needed to take it once a week. If I was deficient wouldn't it show up in my blood work? The doc said my level was really good.

    BCAAs vs HMB

@@FocusOnMeNow thanks for the advice! HMB is is a metabolite of leucine (one of the BCAAs) that is supposed to prevent Protein breakdown. The stuff I've read says that HMB can lead to increased gain in lean mass and decreased muscle breakdown. It's supposed to help especially if you're on a restricted caloric diet - apparently it's often prescribed for wasting syndrome. I'll have to google that site you suggested.

    Why Am I So Tired?

Thanks @@ShrinkingPeach, I will! @@Sajijoma I live in CA and spend a fair amount of time outside. I also take a Vitamin D supplement because it was low before surgery. I was wondering if maybe I'm not getting enough calories. My NUT had said to get between 800 - 1000 and on average I get about 900 a day. But I also work out at least half an hour every day, and recently it's been about an hour a day. I'm not really sure how to add calories though - I eat every two to three hours as it is. @ that doesn't sound fun at all! I'm really glad I had a sleep study done and I'm definitely a lot more rested then I used to be. Plus with the weight loss, my CPAP pressure has dropped by half and I'm hoping that I will someday soon not need it at all. @@James Marusek I'm actually not on any medication. Despite being morbidly obese with sleep apnea, I was actually quite healthy. The only prescription I take now is for allergies. @@bazoooms my doctor said my B12 levels were great. I do the sublingual once a week. And I take a B6 every morning. It has definitely been a major life change though!

  20. I recently got an ice cream maker and I'm dying to try it out but I'm having trouble finding recipes that are bariatric friendly but aren't filled with diet crap. I found some really interesting paleo-type recipes but I'd like to add some unflavoured protein powder for an added bonus. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to do that?

  25. In preparation for surgery I got in the habit of making a protein shake very morning. I actually found several recipes that I really loved. Now three months after surgery I'm struggling, not because my tastes changed but because of quantity. The protein shakes I make just don't save well and even though I've cut back the ingredients, I always have some left over. Do other people have this problem? How do you handle it? I miss my protein shakes!
