For the record, my incision scars are almost unable to be seen and the drain was removed before I left the hospital.
Tell your husband to thank his lucky stars he didn't marry me. My husband witnessed me poop on the birthing table every time I pushed while I was in labor with my first. He also got to see my brain drain that was taped to my face for four days after brain surgery. I still have a headband scar from ear to ear from that fiasco. Oh! And after that surgery, he had to pluck out the ingrown hairs that occurred as my hair grew back in around that incision.

He's very squeamish. It almost killed him.

I'd seriously consider taking a long hard look at my relationship if I were in your shoes. To me, it sounds as if you two could use a long talk and some couples counseling.

What if you had been in a serious car accident that required reconstructive surgery? What if you had appendicitis or a tumor that required surgery? What if you needed a stint or a transplant? Would he find you unattractive for any of those reasons?

My husband loves me fat, thin, with scars, without, hairy legs, overgrown eyebrows, roots showing, gassy, greasy haired, in sweats, with zits.... He's in for the long haul. If something came up cosmetically that he changed his mind, I am fairly certain the change of heart would be more than skin deep.

What? This is just a normal discussion on an internet forum. In any internet forum there are disagreements and hurt feelings. Although, maybe some on this particular forum may be a little more sensitive than normal because of the emotional toll being overweight and/or having major surgery can cause.

Comes from the original use of gathering up skirts and petticoats and leaving in dramatic, impatient and exaggerated movements.

If someone is this "off kilter" and something as simple as a post on website can throw them into a tailspin, perhaps they should....STAY OFF THAT WEBSITE.
It's not up to me, or you or anyone else here to guard their every word or opinion because someone may or may not be depressed, hangry, claustrophobic, gluten sensitive, Republican, pre op, post op, high, stoopid, blah..blah..blah.
If we are all here because of the opinions of others, as you stated above, why should I have to censor myself? There are plenty of words/opinions/thoughts here that I don't care for. That's what the back button is for.

I wanted to add that while online communication has important disadvantages, one of the greatest advantages to online communication is that it brings like minded people togetherness.. people who would otherwise never meet. The is particularly important to those who share an experience or who are like you, disabled.
This does not change, however, the caution they must be used in communicating online and the disadvantages that are inherent in it.

I just finished reading a couple of posts and I couldn't do anything but say to myself, "Seriously? Really?"
I know there are going to be some people that will probably what to take my head off for this one, but I just have to ask... Are there really people that frequent this website that are so weak-minded and sensitive that they can be absolutely devastated and sent into an uncontrollable bout of depression over something someone wrote in a thread?
If someone that you don't know, have never met, and they know nothing about you, can cause such an emotional reaction in you, I personally think that you don't even need to be considering WLS at this point. You really should be seeking out the services of a therapist to figure out what makes you give away your personal power to a complete stranger.
I hear people say how "mean" some people are, and how rude others are. People are only to you what you allow them to be, and they can only take control of the power you give them.
I have never testified that I know everything about everything, but to the contrary I'm not dumb as a box of rocks! Bottom line, stop letting the things these people on this site upset you, or even get your dander up. You never know, they may come here just to see what type of drama they can get started. If you find something of value to you, keep it and cherish it. All the rest of this mess is nothing but chatter.

Hi everyone, I just got approved today and surgery is scheduled for April 1st (this is no joke!)!
I don't know if there is a liquid diet phase yet, I meet with my surgeon this Friday.

I'm scheduled for April 1! April fools Day? Yikes. Here's hoping my surgeon isn't a prankster and rearranges things so that my arm flies up every time I burp or something.
