  1. Good for you all!! My doctor had me do blood tests before surgery and they do test for nicotine!! Stay focus so a cigarette won't set you back from your surgery date!!

    Kaiser NorCal - Sacramento

The process from now to surgery date depends on you. Reach your goal weight and they'll give you your surgery date. I'm with Kaiser Richmond and they're pretty strict about that one.
  3. My surgeon wanted everyone to lose as much weight as possible specifically because of our liver. The more weight you lose the easier it is for him to lift the liver to get to the stomach. I've lost 18lbs and my surgery will be this coming Wednesday.

    Food funeral...

I didn't have one. If you consume too much during your "food funeral" you'll just add more weight and have to lose more.
  10. I did the Psych eval last month and I made the pre op weight but when the psych found out that my wedding was a week later he said to hold off on the case manager appointment for two weeks (a week after the wedding). I got married, gained some and then lost it (I'm currently at the same pre op weight) but the psych kinda asked why I haven't lost any weight from my initial meeting with him. He told me to give him my food diary and I sent it to him... but he's out of office 'till Wednesday so I wont know anything until then... Do you think they'll deny my surgery?
  11. At my initial appointment I told him about the wedding. I also told him that I had a lot of families visiting from other countries so I've been tasting their home cooked meals (Avoiding rice, noodles, etc..) He also asked for my food journal so I sent him my food journal on myfitnesspal that I've had for over four years (There are a few blank spots... but from the last three months I've been able to update almost every day). I can only imagine that I'm one of many patients that he has so I don't know if continuously telling him I got married would even matter. Still waiting for Wednesday (crosses fingers)

  13. I met with the psychologist two weeks ago and found that I hit my preop diet goal but when I told him that I was getting married within the next week he advised to hold off on my caseworker appointment to focus on the wedding. Well the wedding is done with (it's been two weeks) and all the festivities left me with 5lbs (225 lbs) I'm gonna start logging my food again and drink plenty of Water but I feel like the stress from the wedding and family has been holding me back from doing the deed in the latrine. I've been drinking coffee (natural laxatives) but that ain't doing much. Any tips on how to lose 5 lbs... and quick?
  14. I made the decision to put off WLS for a few weeks since I'll be getting married next week. The whole process has been going great and I would of gotten my date next week however, when I told the caseworker about the wedding she said to wait a few weeks and then call her back. It sucks, but I'd rather Celebrate this special moment without the stress of surgery being around the cornor. My full attention will be on the wedding and I'm happy for that. My pants that I've been wearing are currntly wearing through. You know, the usual chaffing between the thighs, holes at the bottom of my jeans, and belt loops falling off. I'd hate to buy new pants and have to phase out of them when I do continue on with my journey. What's your advice? I hear "yoga" pants are great... but what are "yoga" pants? Where do you buy them? What's your favorite brand? etc. Thanks!
  15. Starting weight was 227 and I was able to get down to 223. Doc wants me at 220 and I've made that goal... However I fluctuate +/- 4 lbs by the day. Yesterday I was at 218... Today I'm at 222. I have my appointment today at 330... so what can I do??
  16. Thanks for the advice everyone. I went to my appointment with 1+ lbs. The psychologist said that I was doing a great job. I had a cup of coffee later that day and that was the end of constipation!! lol... I forgot about natural laxatives.

    New here

It depends on your insurance company. I'm with Kaiser N. Cal. and on average it takes about three months.
  21. I did some research about this topic as well. It has to do with the absorption of the medication and it's effectiveness. https://drjengunter.wordpress.com/2011/08/27/bariatric-surgery-and-contraception-what-you-need-to-know/ http://www.wlshelp.com/news/sex-guidelines-released-for-bariatric-surgery-women/

@dlmadeja27 Thank you!!! It's of this year!!
  23. It's okay. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but you're doing this for yourself. If you need a support buddy, ask if your hospital has a support group.

  25. Welcome!! I'm in the begining stages of the process as well. Just like Snickysnack78, I did the four hour orientation and I had the appointment with my surgeon. Next step is an appointment with my psychiatrist which will be today. This whole process takes a lot of patients and time to reflect on your decision and how you'll maintain your lifestyle after surgery. Good luck to you all!! If you have and q's.. send me a mess!!
