Eggs
I am two weeks out and eggs are now allowed. I thought I would be healthier to choose egg whites. They were horrible! I have had them before, but I guess my taste changed. Tomorrow I will try a full fat egg lol!

Lol! Glad I'm not the only one with a pickle craving! Almond milk is delicious, but I chose Lactaid because it has more protein.

I am 12 days out and I want a pickle so bad! I don't know why, maybe because my post op diet has so much sweet with the shakes, jello, drinks, and such. Not to mention everything is soft & I guess I am missing chewing. I want a pickle or even a few olives lol! I know it's all in my head & I'm glad I'm not craving something really bad but still. In two days I can start on phase two. Maybe when I can have baked fish and soft vegetables that will get rid of that craving!

For those having new issues with milk... I was lactose intolerant before surgery & lactaid milk is a great choice. It has everything milk has, without the pain and discomfort! Good luck!

You are almost there! I know how you feel! I had 8 months and the two days before my surgery I was a mess lol! But the day of surgery I was calm & ready to get it over with! You have done all you can do at that point and you just have to trust yourself, and put your faith in the process!

I'M ALSO MARCH 31ST WE'RE GETTING SO CLOSE YAYYYMarch 31st here too. Overrun with nerves and excitement. Good luck to all Me too! Excited but nervous for the recovery. Packing for the hospital today! I have, PJ's, underwear, slippers, GasX, Vaseline a book & toiletries. Am I forgetting anything? Deb Deb I didn't have a chance to wear my own Pjs because they don't unhook everything until I was ready to go home, but I used my robe a lot! A pillow for the ride home. Loose clothes for the ride home. Gas x didn't help me at all because the gas isn't in your stomach, it is from them pumping you with air so they can move everything. They said it goes into your empty cavities like chest, and shoulders. Some people swear it helps, but it didn't help me. In fact it just made me vomit. I hope you have the best experience possible!

There are a lot of things that can cause problems with BM after surgery. The pain meds, contrast for leak test, you could be lactose intolerant now, not enough fluids and so on. I was sleeved on the 19th and I have experienced both extremes at this point. Unjury makes s chicken soup protein powder that you mix with water. It's very good & no dairy issues. My doctors office said I could take different things to help. It just depends on what the problem is. Feel better!

My surgeon said that is very rare, but they do use a retractor to move the liver out of the way anyways. Good luck & it's normal to be nervous! You are almost there!

Coffee post VSG
I switched to decaf just to be safe. My Nut hasn't got back to me. Since surgery my favourite thing to drink is decaf ice tea with truvia. Waters with flavors added, mio, crystal light, and everything else seems to have an aftertaste that I didn't notice because surgery. I hope this changes because even my favourite bottled water, Deer park spring water has an aftertaste now. It taste like minerals now instead of plain water. I'm not sure why my tastebuds are so different now. I heard that you may not like things you liked before but I thought that was due to the way it made our new stomach feel.

I'm afraid to even weigh myself! I had surgery on Tuesday and I actually feel huge. I know it's likely because everything inside is still swollen and I'm still working out a lot of gas so I do know in my head that I haven't gained any weight. Just don't think my heart could handle seeing a higher number on the scale. I think I'm gonna wait until I'm al least walking upright lolIt's completely normal to even put on a few lbs in first few days due to the fluids they give U during surgery and after! It can take up to a week after surgery to start losing it all, I went up 4lb after surgery and then only lost it bout a week ago and I am 16days post Yes I agree, don't get discouraged! My Nut said that my weight might be up that first week from the fluids, and surgery in general. You have swelling & Fluid retention sometimes. I lost 10lbs the first week & I wasn't sure what was normal so when my doctors office called me to check on me yesterday I asked them and they said sometimes people don't even loose anything for a few weeks and they are really embarrassed, but then they lose 100lbs over the next six months! Everybody is different & it's too early to worry!

How are you feeling? Hopefully better then the last few days. Each day gets better.

@Marcy. You can do it! Don't get discouraged, my weight often fluctuates 5lbs over a few days. I agree, walking is good but don't go trying to build muscle at the gym because you may actually gain weight temporarily! Water, shakes, broth, Sf jello, walk, make sure you get enough sleep at night because that helps too. It's only a few more days! You got this!

Surgery 3-16-15 an starving
I'm sorry you are having so much trouble. Unfortunately you seem to have bad info. Did you spend time with a nutritionist? I know the plan is different from doctor to doctor so I am just going to tell you about the plan I am on. My surgery was 3/19/2015 so I am one week out. You should probably be on the full liquid diet. That means 3 meals a day that consist of about 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of very thin food. Protein is key so yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, cream soup made with milk, as such. In between meals you should be drinking 4oz protein shakes. Three a day. Drink all day. 64oz of no calories fluids. You can do this! If you drink your fluids & follow the plan 100% you shouldn't be so hungry. Definitely contact your nutritionist if you have one. Good luck & it's not to late to start over.

Coffee post VSG
I am a week out & I had a very small cup this morning. No ill effects that I can tell. I am going to talk to my Nut about it.

Coffee post VSG
I was told coffee was considered a fluid & fine from the beginning. But they also said decaf, then said we could have one small caffeinated drink per day. I am confused.

It is really bizarre that I had surgery on Thursday and I'm not hungry. 1/4-1/3 cup of food depending on the consistency is enough. I know we read this ahead of time, and hear it over and over but I had that fear in the back of my mind of "what if it's not enough & I'm still hungry?" Now that I am experiencing it first hand it is a reality. Feeling good & looking forward to my first check up on April 13th!

That's great! You will do just fine. I'm sure your doctor cleared you or you wouldn't be doing this. My husband was the same way! I was calm & ready to get it over with and he looked like he was going to cry. It broke my heart. My husband doesn't cry, and he didn't ( that I know of). Your husband loves you & I'm sure he will be a great support for you after. Best of luck tomorrow!
