    Tired of being Compared

I have not told anyone outside of my husband, mother and children about my surgery. Others may suspect, but do not know as a fact. I suspect there is a lot of speculation going on behind my back but no one has come out and asked me if I have had surgery. They just tell me I look good. Well, the other day, I went to visit an aunt who I had not seen since July. In July she was blown away at my weight loss. When I saw her the other day, after we hugged hello, she actually took both hands and started feeling on me around my mid section like the wicked witch from Hansel and Gretel! I pushed her away and told her to quit feeling on me! I could not believe her nerve! She apologized. I love her very much and that really hurt my feelings. Later, I found out from my mother that she feels ashamed for doing that and doesn't know what came over her. I think people are just so curious about how people lose weight whether it be from surgery or not. However, some people just need to mind their own business and keep their opinions to themselves.

    HELP! surgery post vgs

When you are having surgery they give you A LOT of saline. You were probably on it while you were in recovery also. Inactivity will also cause you to retain Water. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless there is swelling in your lower extremities.

9 Months Into My Journey (With Picture)

    WOWZZAA!!! Congratulations!
  4. Your biggest issue will be fatigue. Second, will be getting in your Protein and Water. Please be sure to take a large cooler with pre-made Protein shakes and water. Also, you will have to be sure to have your medications and Vitamins with you. I would just check with the surgeons office again and let them know that you plan to make the trip and will take every precaution to be safe and take good care of yourself and get whatever recommendations they may have for you. There may be some other issues after your surgery that you may have to consider for your trip. Good luck to you and congratulations on your surgery and congratulations to your son!

    Exercise and hypoglycemia

If I am going to do an intense aerobic workout I drink a Protein shake before and I eat protein after. If not so intense, I drink 1/2 of the shake before and drink the other 1/2 after. I do not add any extra carbohydrates.

    Never noticed. Picture included

Your weight loss is very noticeable. Keep up the good work!
  7. Your PCP is your "mainline" doctor. He/she should be aware of ALL of your health issues.
  8. I look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. Everyone gathers at my house. I love to cook and I have learned how to tweek some of my best loved recipes to make them healthier. I am hoping to teach a few family members some things about making smarter choices and portion control.

    Husband rant!

@@dhrguru Girl, what a mess this has turned out to be! Whoa! Anyway, in my opinion, maybe your husband is just in a "wait and see" mode. Maybe he has heard of others being unsuccessful at losing or keeping the weight off and he is just "observing" your status right now. You have lost quite a bit of weight and still have a ways to go. He'll come around. You'll catch him looking at you when he doesn't think you are noticing. He'll even start to compliment you. You'll see. You're doing good girl. Time to leave this forum. . . I think it's done.

    Halloween Challenge!

I'm in! 217.8 today. Goal weight is 202. Thanks!
  11. It sounds like you are going down a very destructive path. You might want to seek counseling. If you continue as you are, one day you may find yourself still looking good, but very lonely.
  12. You said, "I'm stuck up and shallow which is bad since I been at the other end.. I play with guys emotions and I love the attention I get" It sounds like maybe men didn't give you the attention you wanted when you were heavy so now you are "paying them back" now that you are feeling yourself.

    Post op diet stage 2

If you are on full liquids everything is liquid so you shouldn't be too full after a Protein shake or cream Soup to have Water 40 minutes later. Just keep sipping. Walking and activity will help you not to feel too full. You must remember to move.

    Throwing up?

My surgery was in February 2015 and I have not been nauseous, nor have I thrown up.
  15. I think that a good surgeon should be able to help you with that decision. Just be sure that the surgeon knows the details of your eating habits and temptations with sugary foods. The sleeve does not necessarily give you "dumping syndrome." I don't have it.

    Weight-loss hiatus :(

I'm a little over 6 months out and for the past 2 weeks I have been bouncing back and forth by 2 pounds. I know my body is just "adjusting" right now and so I am letting it. I have slowed my exercise a bit this week also because of a slight lupus flare-up but I will be right back on the ball as soon as my body will let me. I have learned to "listen" to my body and cooperate with it. You'll start losing again. It's not over yet.
  17. @@Para-thighs Lost Ha ha! Do you do that often? Talk to yourself! Just kidding! I know what you mean. Those old habits creep into your mind at times and you think "what if?" But I'm telling you, it's not worth it. Don't fall back into destructive patterns. Keep talking to yourself! Tell yourself to "stay strong and keep fighting the good fight!"

    8week

@@dsheive You said, "Need to excite my meals. I hate eating such a waste of time for 3 bites. My fear I guess is eating and liking food to much again." So it sounds like you want to change things up, but on the other hand, you are afraid that if you do, you might eat too much. I would suggest trying different Proteins at lunch and supper time. Grill, bake, broil, or saute your meats using different spice blends and fresh herbs. Perhaps some homemade bean Soup (can add ground turkey or lean ground beef) would be a good substitute at lunch. Instead of the 1/2 banana, eat some fresh berries or a small apple some days just to switch things up a bit. I think you are just getting tired of the routine of eating. Mixing things up might make a difference.

    Sciatica and Weight Loss

@@VanessaVSGforme I am down 98 pounds and my sciatica is still a slight problem at times. My pain and numbness is in my right leg, thigh, and foot. I exercise every day and my pain level depends on the activity. Overall, I am feeling a lot better since the surgery. I think that weight loss has improved the situation by at least 75%. I know you said that your leg hurts, but be sure to get your walking in anyway. It will definitely help to keep you loose. I hope you will start feeling better soon.
