  1. Giving up all my clothes is really crushing my soul in a way that is surprising me.

I have two huge Kohl's bags filled to the brim, just sitting taking up space in my sewing room. The idea of getting rid of them freaks me out, though.

  2. How cool it is to say this: I've lost a hundred pounds!

Congrats! I hope to be able to say that before too long!

Six MONTHS for scrambled eggs?!?! Geez, I've never heard of such a restrictive plan!

  4. I was so excited when I got on the scale this morning! 1. I lost 1.4lbs yesterday 2. I hit one of my goals and surpassed 125 lbs lost! Only 19 pounds from my ultimate goal!

  6. My husband bought an apple pie last Sunday. It's still around 1 week later & I haven't touched it. < my mantra> I can and will co-exist with treats others enjoy without touching them myself.

Good for you! I've decided that my philosophy now is that it has to be a special occasion (like, a real special occasion, not "it's a Tuesday!" or "I trimmed my fingernails!") AND the treat has to be a really good one (ideally, homemade from scratch or from a really good bakery/restaurant). I wait until others have started eating something to gauge how delicious it is, and if everyone is moaning in ecstasy, I'll have a little bit. If it's just "meh," it's not worth it.

  7. Not sure if yesterday was a win or a fail. I made it through my first big event at work since surgery and didn't eat a donut (we get them for the staff/volunteers), and I didn't treat myself to a huge dinner of nachos or mac and cheese afterwards... BUT, I got to the end of the day, and even after having my protein yogurt snack in the evening, I was still hungry, so I ended up having a serving of roasted chickpeas and went over my allotted calories by more than 100. I did run around a lot throughout the day, but I don't know that it justified the extra calories. :/

Thanks... I was just on the phone with my mom, and she said basically the same thing. I have a Garmin Vivosmart tracker on my Amazon wishlist; maybe Santa will bring it to me for Christmas!

Maybe I should try to stay 118 calories under my goal today to make up for it...?

I also had no idea how to go about accounting for the exercise I got yesterday, since it wasn't all at once--for the first hour or two of the day, I was running around lot, setting up and carrying tables, chairs, etc. Same with the last hour or two. I walked around the grounds of my museum throughout the day, but also had periods of sitting and manning different stations.

  9. Had my ring finger sized...its now a 7.5, my current wedding ring set is a 9. Guess I'll be retiring them for a while till its time to re-size. Its hard b/c I LOVE my set.

It's such a bittersweet thing, isn't it? I haven't been able to wear my engagement ring for quite a while now, and I take off my wedding band when I do water aerobics because I'm afraid of losing it in the pool!

  10. Today was the first time I could see the difference in my face without comparing it to old pictures. It's nice to not have to work so hard to create cheekbones & contours with makeup because you can actually see your real cheekbones.

Awesome! I'm finding that my glasses and sunglasses are sliding off my face a lot now.

  11. I've been loving my evening treat lately--protein hot chocolate! I heat 1 cup of Fairlife skim milk in the microwave (1 min, 50 sec seems to get it warm without getting too hot and making the protein powder clump), add some sugar-free Torani syrup (salted caramel is my fave, but peppermint is yummy, too), then whisk in a scoop of Chocolate Truffle flavored Syntrax Nectar. Yum! Perfect for these chilly fall evenings.

@Elode--just make sure that your milk doesn't get above 140 degrees or the powder will become a disgusting mess (my husband made the mistake of stirring some protein powder into piping-hot coffee, and it was nasty). I used my candy thermometer (ironic, huh?) the first few times until I found the sweet spot.

@heather5565--I order my sugar-free syrups from Amazon, usually through the vendor Charlie Bean & Co. (http://www.amazon.com/s?marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&me=A1ORJOO9ZDVKGH&merchant=A1ORJOO9ZDVKGH&redirect=true). I have Amazon Prime, so shipping is free.

  13. It's soup season. Making a orca bean & forbidden rice soup in the crock pot.

      lauraellen80

I had to look up "forbidden rice"--wasn't sure if it was a variety of rice, or you were just calling it that because so many WLS patients don't eat rice! :)

  14. Totday's NSV: putting on an old par of sweatpants and having them fall completely down. Just added them to the Goodwill pile

  15. Day 11 post op. I went grocery shopping and for the first time ever I felt as if the store had nothing for me to eat. This is truly a process a mental war I'm learning to focus on the finish line instead of the process..

  16. Bought a pair of jeans in a size 10 today! I'm in shock!

My dad's doing OK for now. His heart function still isn't where they want it to be, but it's a lot better than it was before his bypass and meds. If it's not better in a couple months, they are going to implant a defibrillator and pacemaker.

  17. Ugggghhhhh... my MIL toasted a piece of cinnamon raisin bread for herself for a snack, and it smelled so effing good, I had go to another part of the house. I haven't missed bread a whole lot so far, but tonight I'm sad.

    1. lauraellen80

      lauraellen80

And this wasn't just any old supermarket raisin bread--it was real Amish raisin bread from Lancaster County. ~sigh~

  19. NSV - just licked the 'pit' of my knee

  20. I've really been struggling the past few days. Worrying that I'm screwing it all up... Feeling like I'm just not good enough to succeed... Knowing that at the end of it all, I'm still going to be ugly, and people are going to wonder why I bothered. Ugh, I just want to crawl into bed and pull the covers over my head for the rest of the day.

Thanks, for the words of wisdom, Miss Mac. After posting this, I did end up getting back in bed and slept for a couple of hours (with a dog curled up next to me) and felt a little better when I woke up. I have a session with my regular therapist on Monday. We're going to have a lot to talk about! Luckily, the people in my life who know about my surgery are actually very supportive, I just tend to assume that everyone is as critical of me as I am.

  21. Stepped on the scale this morning and am down 60 pounds. I've lost over 25% of my total body weight so far.

      lauraellen80

@jane13--so far I've hardly bought any new clothes, I've just been "shopping" in my closet. I was at this weight (briefly) about 5 years ago, so nothing that retro! I'm down from a 20W to about a 14 right now. I have a lot of things in size 12, so that'll be fun!

      Thanks!

I should clarify that I'm down 58.4 pounds from my highest weight--I'm down 32 pounds since the day of surgery. The inches lost count from the first day of my pre-op diet.

I know--sometimes it seems like I think about food more now than I did before surgery! Trying out different combinations of foods on My Fitness Pal to get the right calories, protein, carbs, etc. each day.
