Terrified of change
I've been back in the gastric bi pass program for 6 months now. I was in the program 4 years ago and lost my insurance. I'm supposed to be losing 30 lbs but instead I have gained 6. I start over eaters anonymous on Monday. I need to wrap my head around this weight problem before I fail after surgery. Has anyone else gone through this fear of failure?

Hello Western Mass! I've just finished my 3 life skills classes and have one more dietician appointment scheduled for next month. I have gone up 4 lbs....was told it was from exercising but I think it was from the increase in my insulin and have now lost 3 of those pounds. I've been working out 30 minutes 4-5 days per week... I'm keeping it moving.

Surgery approved!
Today I had my first appointment since re-enrolling in the program for roux-en-y surgery. I met with the nurse practitioner, surgeon and coordinator. I'm happy to report I have been approved for surgery which will most likely take place this coming June or July. I had previously completed some of the requirements so a few I don't have to do. But. I'll be getting a call with my appointments soon. Weight loss goal 30 lbs. Since making my commitment I've lost 4. I can do this!

Protein Shakes
Unjury protein powder comes in individual packets. You could buy a case of small water bottles and shake it and go.

New Girl from New York
Welcome Lynda! I'm new here too (in Massachusetts) and have recently decided on gastric bypass also after having postponed my initial surgery date 4 years ago. I also have a 12 year old daughter as well as a 16 year old and 26 year old. It's time for us to take our lives back in control. Good Luck Tuesday. Thank you for sharing your story.

7 months out at still can't eat tuna salad or chicken salad! You?
Haven't had the surgery yet but am wondering if it's the texture as it can be stringy.

Tofu Recipes
You can get a lot of recipes on line. Tofu will absorb any flavor put to it. I like Asian stir fry veg with cubed tofu and a soy sauce, garlic crushed, Fresh ginger grated. Just make sure you squeeze out the water out of the tofu. You can add a little truvia to the marinade to add a little sweetness Just a little.

Ideal size?
i think that ideal size is something put upon us by society. Personally I'm a size 46 and my goal is also to be where I was happiest at 178lbs. size 14/16. ultimately I want to enjoy working out again. I want to be able to swim a lap without losing my breath. i want my healthy self back. I may change my mind once I've reached that goal. I'm eager to get to my surgery date.

Is it Inevitable
Hi, I went through the program back in 2011 and ended up leaving it due to my fathers ill health but during that time I was constantly thinking about the negatives. I wasn't ready. Roll on 2015... I'm an insulin dependent diabetic, have sleep apnea so bad that I fell asleep on the toilet, stood and fell into the sink and shattered my nose, recently started with glaucoma and am so uncomfortable in my own skin. I'm 47. I am back in the program and am totally ready to get back to my healthy self so I can spend quality time with my daughters.
