Concerned about calories.. 8 Days Post Op

My mother is only allowing me to eat/drink the things specifically on the list. My surgeons list says popsicles, italian ice, chicken broth , or Jello. My stomach can only tolerate the popsicles and italian ice so that is what I have been eating. When I drink I get very nauseous. Tomorrow, I meet with my surgeon for post pre-op appointment, so I will have to inform him of this.

Concerned about calories.. 8 Days Post Op

I am not allowed Protein til Friday.
  3. Hi everyone, I made a post earlier today and I was going to wait to post another topic on Friday, but I am a bit concerned. I am averaging less than 150 calories a day. Today my meals went like this: Breakfast time: Too nauseous Snack: sugar free Italian Ice: 60 cal Lunch: Sugar Free Ice Pop: 15 cal Dinner: Sugar Free Italian Ice: 60 cal Snack: Sugar Free Ice Pop: 15 cal I had a couple sips of Water as well; however, I had a hard time getting water or crystal light down today. All the other days I ate less, but I drank more. I don't know if I should be concerned or if this is normal?
  4. Aw! I haven't had any weird smells; however, I have to brush my teeth constantly! Also, I keep tasting things like steak and pasta and bacon; however, it is just my imagination I believe. I am still on clear liquids.

    8 DAYS POST OP

Hi all, On March 24th, 2015 I had my gastric sleeve surgery and boy was it a journey! I had my surgery at 1:30 and was not able to leave recovery until 2:30 AM. I had to stay until Friday in the hospital because I refused to eat or drink anything. I was in too much pain and nauseous. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at home I constantly begged my mom and boyfriend to drive me back to the hospital because I was DYING; however, they refused and just gave me some pain meds. On Monday, I felt like a brand new person! I felt great and I had a NON-scale VICTORY.... The promise ring my boyfriend bought me for Christmas FINALLY fit. And it was even a little bit big! Yesterday, I overdid it as I went Prom Dress shopping. I did get my dress, but boy am I in so much pain. Too much bending and moving around. I was not a happy camper the rest of the night. I should have known that I was not ready, but I really wanted to go prom dress shopping with my mom and twin sister! Today, I am in a lot of pain and nauseous, so I am going to take it easy today. I may go out for a little while to get my nails done and walk around, but I can't overdo it like I did yesterday! I have not weighed myself, but I feel good. I received many compliments from people who did not even know that I went for WLS. I am also still on Clear liquids until Friday! I will update then! BTW posting pic of Prom Dress here! I had another victory I went from a size 22 dress to a size 20! Don't mind my face, I was worn out from everything!

  8. Hey, guys!!!! I'm getting my VGS a month from tomorrow! My family feels like I am going into this kind of blind sided; however, I have done extensive research on the procedure and my mom has even had the procedure and lost over 160 pounds! Let me explain why my family thinks I am going into this blindsided... I HAVE NO GOAL WEIGHT. Let me explain before anyone agrees with my family and tells me to do more research.. I do not have a goal weight because I just want to be healthy. I want to get to the point in my life where I don't get out of breath walking up the stairs, I don't have sleep apnea, PCOS, or diabetes. I don't want my health to be defined by a number on a scale; however, my mom says that is the whole point of this surgery is TO LOSE WEIGHT but in all honesty, I just want to get healthy and go into my first year of college a new and happy me. I am totally aware that this surgery will change my life and I have already started making the lifestyle changes necessary to succeed with my VGS. I can't wait to do all the things I have wanted to do my whole life (I'm only 18.) I want to zip line, hike, jet ski, ride horses and so much more but my weight has been holding me back. I honestly just can't wait to live a healthy and active lifestyle that I have always dreamed of... Anyways, thank you for listening to my rant and please leave comments. Do you guys think I am blindsided into this whole situation? I think I have all my ducks in a row, but now I'm kinda nervous that I might be missing out on a key component to this.. Sorry if this was all over the place!!! PS: Ladies, I AM SORRY IF YOU GET OFFENDED BY SAYING "GUYS" I CALL EVERYONE "GUYS!"
  9. Thank you all so much for your replies! I am so excited for my surgery and to be a part of this wonderful support system!
  10. Hi, 18 year old high school senior here ... Scheduled to get my VGS on March 24, 2015 and I am so so excited! I get my surgery exactly 2 months before senior prom! So I was wondering what were your hospital stay must haves? Any tips to deal with the pain and food temptations? Can anyone give me an idea of how long I will be out of school and gym? Luckily, I scheduled my surgery close to spring break so I don't think I will be missing too much school! Also, I babysit for a 3 month old, one year old, and 3.5 year old after school... How long do you think I should take off? \ Sorry this is so scattered around! I am so excited to make this lifestyle change! I know that these answers will not be expert advice and I will talk to my surgeon, but the next time I see him is the day of my surgery next month! Thanks so much! Jackie PS: I am new to bariatricpal so add me! <3
