  1. @@jane13 Since we're really close to the same height, sizes are probably about the same too -- I've gone from a 20 to a size 10. Yay! My goal was 90lbs. by Christmas, and I think I might just make it! That puts me at 185 -- this is so exciting, isn't it? A year ago this was all just a dream! What holiday challenge are you talking about? I'd love to do that! (P.S. I got on the scale the day after Thanksgiving AFTER I ate Breakfast and was down 2lbs. from the previous week -- I thought I was going to cry, I was so happy. Can't remember a Thanksgiving where that has ever happened!)

  2. @@jane13 - You're RIGHT! We're about dead on it both height and weight lose -- I was at 79lbs. as of last Friday. Weight loss has slowed to a crawl for me, but it's still coming off. Today is my first day going to the gym (I wanted to wait until I was under 200lbs and the weight loss slowed --- probably flawed logic), so hopefully with a consistent workout routine the weight loss will pick back up! Congratulations on your awesome success!!

  3. My surgery was six months ago, and I have had a flawless recovery so far, no complications, no dietary intolerance, a near 80lb. weight loss and feeling AMAZING. However, I've been taking photos every three months since my Surgery (May 6th), and looking at the latest photo, I was so disappointed. All I saw was cellulite, and I felt a little down. Then I went back to the photo I took a few days before my surgery and went WHOAAAA!! Every step forward is success, this hard work and we should never lose sight of our successes no matter how small. Don't lose heart!! I'm including the photos from 0, 3, and 6 months post surgery.

  4. Just passed the five week mark...as I get closer to the six week "fully healed" stage I am beginning to wonder if it will always be hard to eat. But I'm embracing the changes, and delighting in how easy the recover was. I'm down nearly 40lbs., and people are starting to notice. I just bought a dress for my daughter's college graduation at Macy's last weekend -- in the MISSUS department! I also just stopped the Lane Bryant texts from coming, because I will never be shopping plus sized stores again -- how AMAZING is this? I joined a gym, and start classes next Monday at six weeks post-op -- so awesome. I hope you all are pumped and doing great!

  5. How are things now that your are a little further post-op? I'm hoping you're doing really well! My surgery date was the 6th, and I'm back at work now. I have NO pain and everything is going exactly as it should -- just bored sick of the full liquids and ready to move on to to the next stage on Friday. :) Blessings!

  6. Hi all! My surgery was on Wednesday, and I am home from the hospital today. I am taking Clear liquids better and better, and my pain is probably a 6. I'm due for another dose of liquid Oxycodin in an hour, so my pain will be close to zilch then. NO GAS PAIN! I was so worried about the trapped air that so many suffer from, but had none of it. The six incisions cause no discomfort at all, it just feels like I got punched in the stomach a bunch of times.

The nausea has been a bummer, but it comes from the pain meds, and the anti-nausea medication does it's job. :) I'm standing up at the kitchen counter typing this, so I'm already pretty mobile. BEST of luck to each of you this month! We're going to be SO GLAD we did this!!

  7. I'm with you...I've been such a yo-yo that I'm kind of anticipating people's reaction to my upcoming weight loss as "Oh, there she goes again! The magically shrinking woman. Wonder how long it will take before it heads back up again". I may tell people at some point, but for now I've just told anyone that needs to know that I'm having a hiatal hernia corrective surgery. Which is true....its just only half the story. Of course my husband and close family know, but that's it. It's my business, and if I choose to share later I will. My surgery is WEDNESDAY!! I'm so excited. :)

Are any of you struggling with telling people you're having weight loss surgery? I have only told my boyfriend because he's taking me. I really don't want anyone to know, but I also don't want to lie when questioned how I lost the weight. Any of you dealing with this too?

  8. We're sleeve buddies -- I'm the 6th, too! I'm with you as well, I'm not a snacker, and I don't love junk food -- it's the quantities (I LOVE to cook) that got me where I am today, so I'm really looking forward to enjoying a healthier relationship with food in the years to come. You're a health care professional, and I'm a certified group fitness instructor and Pilates instructor (though I haven't taught in 18 months due to weight gain) -- proof that even those that know better can be fallible. Best of luck to you next week -- we're on the home stretch!!

May 6th here! I'm a medical professional, healthy despite my weight, but terrified. I started my liquid diet today and yes, day one has been rough! It's really put things into perspective how much my life involves food. From lunch meetings to dinner with friends, brunch on the weekends along with game night vittles and stuff to nosh on at movie nights, it never hit me until today that food is more of an activity than something to sustain life. Luckily I prefer healthy foods over junk food so I'm golden when it comes to that. I question though, if having a reduced appetite is going to affect social situations. This is scary but I'm also intrigued to see how creative I can be in those social situations. Maybe I can relay a thing or two, to my patients, you never know. Anyhow, I bid you all the best of luck on your journey! I hope everybodies surgery goes smoothly and God bless you all! <3

  9. I'm so excited. Starting the pre-op diet today, surgery date is May 6th. The first time around the pre-op diet was just super low carb, no caffeine, no alcohol, no carbonation. (My surgery was cancelled due to insurance, then rescheduled a month later). THIS pre-op diet is Unjury or Protein Drinks for Breakfast and lunch, and a small low carb low fat dinner. I think this one is going to be a little more of a challenge, but I'm up for it! GO MAY SLEEVERS!

  10. My original surgery date was April 1st --- which is funny, because it did end up being an April Fools joke. Half way through the pre-op diet and one week prior to surgery, we found out that my insurance had an exclusion for out-of-network bariatric services. EIGHT MONTHS I had been with this surgery group and we find out just days before the date. It was like being pregnant for 8 1/2 months, buying new nursery items, changing my diet, going to a zillion check-ups only to be told "Actually, you're not having a baby after all". Anyway, the very same day I contacted an in-network provider and my surgery has been re-scheduled almost one month to the day of the original date.

All things happen for a reason! I have my pre-op appointment this afternoon, and I'm getting REALLY excited!!

  11. @@ladycook9713, I had to lose 15lbs and I only lost 7lbs. But what gets me even more upset is that my patient advocate didn't believe me when I told him I didn't cheat. He said I should have lost more weight. I have not cheated not even once and no one knows how hard this liquid diet has been for me, but I can honestly say that I am freakin' proud of myself that was strong enough to resist the temptation to cheat. I don't know what to do. This is all very discouraging.

I'm so sorry this is happening -- I know exactly how you feel. My surgery was scheduled for Wednesday, I was halfway through the pre-op diet and we learned that there is a tiny clause in my employer schedule that prohibits ANY out-of-network bariatric services, even though for the past 8 months we've been getting a completely different story directly from the insurance company. So, my pre-op appointment and surgery have been cancelled after 8 months of working toward this goal. I am in the process of switching to an in-network provider, but I was so close -- vacation time scheduled for both me AND my husband, all the supplies purchased, etc. -- and now it could be MONTHS before I am rescheduled. I'm so discouraged I could cry. I will be praying that your surgeons will overlook 5 stupid pounds and get you taken care of!

  12. I thought I was going to be a March sleever, but my Surgery is scheduled for April 1st! I'm on day 6 of the pre-op diet...mine is just low carb, not liquid, so I'm not hungry at all. I have little mini moments of panic realizing that my last glass of wine, my last Italian Pasta meal....is behind me for a good long time if not forever. I started this on August 28th, so I'm really just SO EXCITED! Praying for all of you that are going in this week. xo
