  1. So i am 16 days post op. I have been feeling wonderful. Only used the pain meds on the first 2 days at home and then i didnt need them after that. Im drinking and "eating" ok, moving around like normal, driving etc. A few days ago, i started having this really sharp pain on my left side, it started in my back, which i thought could be a kidney stone or kidney infection. I called the on call nurse and they said it sounded like dehydration and to push the liquids and call back the next day if it doesnt get any better. i pushed Water as much as i could handle and the pain subsided, but then a new pain emerged on the front of my left flank. Its a sharp stabbing pain anytime i move or walk more then 20 steps. Im fine if i sit down or lay down. I had my 2 week checkup with my surgeon yesterday so i mentioned it to him. He didnt seem too overly concerned, stating he thought it was the way the sutures in the muscle can sometimes have a scissor like effect if i over extend or move too much. wth? ok, but why is it just now starting 2+ weeks out? he said it was normal but to keep an eye on it. This is near debilitating for me at work. Ive gone back to the pain meds when im home to try and combat it a little. I realize i just had major surgery and it will take awhile for my body to get back to normal. i also know the larger incision can have pain for quite a while, but this doesnt feel like incision pain. Has anyone else experienced this suture pain before? I consider my pain threshold very high, but this is concerning me.
  2. @@LisaPunkinHead oh good! ive been a bit worried that something else was going on! i feel like the surgery and recover just went too smoothly, ya know? lol

    Farewell My 140 Pound Friend

Syonara Brandon!!! And congratulations Ryan! How inspiring!
  6. I am up early. Leaving for the hospital in a couple hours. I have faith that everything will be ok, but the nervousness is kicking in. Please send lots of prayers, positive thoughts and good vibes! See you all on the losers bench!!!
  7. @@rln52 Good Luck!! Let us know how things went once you feel up to it!
  8. I was Aug 5th as well. Spent 2 days in the hospital on a clear liquid diet, i.e. water, chicken broth and apple juice. I didnt drink a whole lot at first so i pretty much had to force myself to get in my liquids. The last thing i wanted was to get dehydrated and be kept longer. I was released yesterday and the car ride home was bumpy. Have a pillow over your belly! It helps! So today is day 3 post op and my first full day at home. I am starting back on a full liquid diet today and began taking my vitamins and chews etc. I found out the hard way that i should take a nausea pill before my vitamins as my sleeve isnt accustomed yet to them and i nearly threw up, which hurt like hell! Im taking it slow with protein shakes this morning hoping things will get a bit easier. I really havent taken much as far as pain killers. Im not in hardly any pain, just from the larger incision on my left side. Otherwise, i feel just dandy!
  9. My surgeon says i should be drinking more then what I am. Im only 1 day post op and scared to drink too much. My drain site has been leaking too, i sure hope that stops soon as im scheduled to be discharged tomorrow. Fingers crossed and send prayers please! I miss my daughter.... i want to go home.
  10. I had my sleeve yesterday. Walking is pretty tough but im trying to get up and move. Im sipping Water slowly, ive got terrible dry mouth. Feel like ive done a thousand situps. Lol
  11. Thank you! Ive got this! Took a nice walk and now im chilling out in a recliner. Cant wait until i start to feel better!
  12. Thank you all. Surgery went well. I am having a rough time getting up and walking so i will try that again tomorrow. Feels like i did a thousand situps lol ready to feel a little better tomorrow.
  13. Tomorrow is the day!! My surgery is scheduled for 930am. My house is spotless, groceries are bought, laundry is done, my support is coming in town today.... everything is taken care of. Im ready! Im making a list of what to pack for my stay in hospital. Im sure i wont need much. Any good suggestions of things you wished you had with you?

Good job! It looks wonderful! I made this a few months back and it was so tastey!
  19. Its official, I am 1 week away from beginning my new life! Actually, I should tell myself I began my new life 1 week ago, when I started my pre-op diet. After all, thats the start of training my body to accept these new habits, right? Thats the true beginning! I am so close, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can feel the confidence starting to emerge with every pound that melts off of me. I can also feel the nervousness setting in. Its been such a long process of trying to get to this point that I was never sure it would actually happen. So now I'm trying to picture myself in the hospital, going back for surgery and in my room post-op... just to try to make it a bit more real. My mother is flying in to help with my daughter for about a week, I am so greatful she is being so supportive of my decision. I'm not sure I would be this prepared if she wasnt behind me 100%. I know she is worried about me doing something so drastic and I'm sure she will shed a few tears when I finally am rolled away to the OR. But I need her to be strong...so i dont break down too lol. I am day 8 on the liquid diet and while I have had a couple small slip ups, I'm trying my hardest to remain on track. It is a tough journey thats for sure! But one I know I can handle. I remind myself that I've dropped 7 lbs so far, more then I ever have in such a short amount of time. I thought I would be hungrier during the day, but I feel absolutly fine. I've had alot of coworkers offer me Snacks and Desserts from retirement parties etc at work and I've said no thank you each time. Its getting easier and easier to turn it down. It's when I'm home that I have the hardest time. I try to keep busy and not watch all the delicious food commercials on tv but the head hunger is still there! I will beat it eventually. I'VE GOT THIS! Thank you, friends, for letting me ramble! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers that everything goes smoothly next Wednesday!
  20. @@ladyfrann Im Aug 5th too! My NUT agreed to let me do muscle milk for my liquid diet, but i have to 6 shakes a day! thats tough! I am on day 7 and i havent been able to hit 6 a day yet. BUT, im down 7lbs so far.

Day 5 of the liquid diet for me and its tough. I slipped a little bit yesterday bc I didn't bring my Protein shake with me when I was running around all day. Im determined to get back on track though! 6 lbs down as of this morning! Hows the liquid diets going for everyone else?
  22. My surgery is Aug 5th as well. Day 1 on the liquid diet for me and it was easy until i got home. Im thinking i will need to keep super busy at night until i get used to this. Good luck friends!

Awesome if your insurance will pay!! They seem to be a good choice for Vitamins, kinda pricey, but worth it. I have a whey intolerance, so i have to be careful what Proteins i can do. My NUT approved muscle milk 100 calorie drinks and the mega Protein shakes for me. Those are pretty good! Ive tried Isopure, Nutrimed and a soy EAS powder and they were horrible. Ive heard good things about unjury but havent tried it. Syntrax nectar is a good brand if you need to switch up the flavors. They have a sample pack for like $20 online.

I purchased the Celebrate multi Vitamin chewables. They have B12 in them so i wont have to take a seperate vitmain for that. And i bought the citrate Calcium chews too. I have to take 3 of the 500 mg chews a day to meet my goal, but they taste like candy so im ok with it!
