    Perfectly Imperfect: Ashley's VSG Story

Quick update: been stuck fluctuating between 194-196 for a little over a week now. Probably another stall, but I have a dress to fit into for a wedding on Nov 7th so gonna kick things into high gear. Ordered a kettlebell and some hand weights off of amazon today for same day delivery. Will be waking up an hour earlier and working out in the morning. Also plan to do a squat challenge to get my saggy non-butt up lol

    Sooooooooo....

I was a 46DDD and now 120lbs later I am a 40D. Still have 45lbs to go so I'm sure this will change again. Boob job is on the agenda once I have a second kid.. just enough to fill out the skin I've got there.

    Pregnant- sleeve or bypass

Everything you're asking is really a personal decision. There's no right surgery for if you plan to have a baby post op. You need to weigh the pros and cons of each surgery and make the decision based off your feelings. Losing weight after pregnancy is another thing that depends on the person, and doesn't have anything to do with the surgery you get. If you are lazy about things after baby then there's a chance you won't lose the weight. Getting personal accounts can help you see how others went through the process, but ultimately it's what will work best for you. I have the sleeve. I chose the sleeve because I didn't want mal-absorption and I didn't want my insides being rerouted by RNY. I didn't want lapband because I didn't want a foreign object inside of me, and didn't want to deal with getting fills post op. I plan to get pregnant in a year, but pregnancy was not part of my decision on which surgery to get because all 3 surgeries have had successful pregnancies after surgery.

    Stomach sleepers.

I comfortably slept on my stomach again about 4 weeks out. It was once my incision stopped being painful. For me, the incision that they pulled my stomach out through was the most painful for the longest.

    TOM

You won't necessarily have a catheter. I didn't have one for my surgery. Just make them aware. No tampons though. Since you don't know when you'll have a chance to change it, and depending on your flow you don't want it staying in too long.

    Sushi?

Way too soon. At 3 weeks out you should be in the purée stage of your post op diet. What kind of post op diet did your surgeon give you?

    Time to "invoke" FMLA

I think that your boss has FMLA and short term disability confused. FMLA only protects your job while you are out and doesn't include payment for time off. You "should" be able to use STD on top of your FMLA for paid time off. But otherwise you can use FMLA and PTO

Quick update! As of this morning I weigh 199.8! That puts me at 116.2lbs lost! Yay! I'm currently in a size 16, 14's button up but are tighter than what I find comfortable so I'm not wearing them just yet. My husband and I 2 days ago on our anniversary. Before pic for comparison:

    March Sleevers

I still have indulgences. But I work to stay on track the rest of the time. Once a week I have a snocone. Monday I had 3 small bites of cake. Those little things aren't going to make me gain the weight back. I don't drink Protein Shakes. I did have a protein coffee from Starbucks this morning though. My general day is yopa strawberry Greek yogurt with granola (I generally cannot finish the whole thing, some days I can though) for Breakfast. lunch I have chicken of some sorts. I use Pinterest for low carb recipes and most of the time I don't miss the bread! dinner is some other form of meat (low carb style). If I'm hungry between meals I snack on beef jerkey. If I'm craving sweetness then I snack on grapes. If my husband and I go out to eat we agree on one meal to share cause he knows it's hard for me to stare at a plate full of food knowing I can't eat it all. The only thing that changed with this surgery is your stomach size. Your brain is still the same. And it's going to be your biggest enemy. I'd be lying to you if I said I don't "want" the things I used to have. I used to eat 6 sausage rolls every morning for breakfast. Now I have Greek yogurt. If yogurt isn't your thing then eggs and bacon. You still gotta finds things you enjoy! Tweek the plan to for yourself. Don't think that there is only one plan that works for us all. I struggle with getting Water in. I plain just forget. Plus water can be so boring. But I've been trying different flavoring a to see if I can find one I like to encourage myself to drink more. Get on the net and research. It's going to be the best way for you to make this work. Feel free to follow me on Instagram. I'm going to start posting more of what I'm eating on a daily basis. (LadyCookVSG) All I follow on there are other people who have had Bariatric surgery. It's inspiring to see other people work towards goals. If gives you ideas for food, inspiration, body acceptance, etc. Ok, I'm done lol
