Perfectly Imperfect: Ashley's VSG Story
ladycook9713 replied to ladycook9713's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That was March this year, 4 months ago. WOW!!!!! I am now 342 and still have 4 more months of a supervised diet before surgery in 2016 if approved. I am hoping to lose down too the low 300's before surgery so I can get to goal by my 61st birthday in 2017 You can def do it! I will keep my fingers crossed that you are approved! It has fallen off super quickly. Way faster than I would have ever thought it would have. Losing has slowed, but I'm ok with that so maybe my skin can catch up. I can definitely tell I'll have lose skin in all the expected places..arms, inner thighs, and tummy. Small price to pay though! I've also started losing my hair. I can't tell just yet, and praying I won't have any obvious signs that people will notice. Here's hoping!! -

My surgery date was 3/25. This amount includes pre-op and 13lbs I lost before I started this process. I'm currently 216 and my goal weight is 150 so I still have 66lbs to go. Next milestone is to reach onederland! Only 16.2lbs to go lol -

Quick awesome update! 100lbs gone baby!!! -
Only thing that hasn't sat well with my tummy is tortilla. But I don't know if I took too big of a bite or just didn't chew it enough. I'll try again at a later date. But so far everything else seems to sit well.

This is from a few weeks ago. But I am almost 4 months out (on 7/25) and I'm down 97lbs -
Employer isn't who determines if it is eligible or not. The FMLA provider does. You don't have to tell your employer what you're doing. You're not required by law to. You can describe it as surgery if you want. They may approve the initial request. But it is up to the FMLA provider (in my case Fidelity) to actually approve the time off. You will have to tell them what you are having done I believe. I'm just going off my experience for maternity leave. I was going to take FMLA for my sleeve surgery as well, but it hasn't been a year since I had, had my daughter, and I didn't have any full paid FMLA time still.
-
You need to call the provider for your FMLA, and find out if it is covered. If it is then there is absolutely nothing that your employer can do. If you take FMLA time to cover the off time from work then they have to hold the position during the time that you are out. Period. The End. If they do not hold your position for the time you are out (only time covered by FMLA) then you have a law suit on your hands.

Falling pregnant after gastric sleeve
ladycook9713 replied to Jess8891's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Most doctors want you to have lost most, if not all of your weight and have maintained it for at least 6 months before attempting to get pregnant.. In general that's about 18 months. I understand the excitement to want to get pregnant, but you definitely want a healthy, complication free pregnancy as well. I haven't had a baby post op yet so I don't have the answer to your question. -
I was outpatient. Surgery at 9am Discharged at 2pm!

1 week post op and feeling blue
ladycook9713 replied to tiffanyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So normal!! around the one week mark I was like "what have I done!?!?" I think it's a food depression... 2 weeks of a liquid diet before.. you hit week 3 and realize how much time you have left until you can eat regular food (even though it's not that much time at all.. it just seems that way) and you get super depressed. Work through it! You'll make it! -
Full with band vs full with sleeve.
ladycook9713 replied to Bndtoslv's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have the sleeve. I didn't start feeling full until I had made it to regular foods. But when I eat too much it's a very tight, uncomfortable feeling where I feel like if I move wrong that it can all comeback up (luckily that hasn't happened) -

In the first pic it has clips on it. In the second pic I hadn't come out of the dressing room yet for her to clip it. It definitely does feel good and I hope they'll be able to take it in as well. Cause I really don't want to buy another dress! Lol -

Went bridesmaid dress shopping this past weekend. I would have usually dreaded this before. Dress that I have on is a 22 (I'm currently an 18) trying to hold it back so you can see the shape. I ordered a 16, but I imagine will have to have it altered anyway since the wedding isn't until November. -

Since surgery I have lost 82lbs and from my highest I have lost 93lbs. -
I wish I had specific tips that give me great success. I'd actually probably say that I don't deserve such success. I just listen to my stomach and body. I stop eating the moment I feel my full feeling. And I weigh myself everyday and plan my food according to how the scale is doing. Always eat my Protein first. I do indulge though. I won't lie. I have half of a small snocone every weekend. I also have a Fitbit to encourage myself to walk more. Maybe it's because I'm 29? So my age is helping me out? I'm not sure. I'm very thankful for the success I've had so far though.
-
Good luck to you!! I hit one of my milestones this past week (weighing less than my husband) so hoping the momentum will get me there!

I had Dr. Adam Smith as well and he does not have a Dallas office. I live in Irving and drove to Ft. Worth for all of my appointments. Would have been nice if he did have an office closer. 95lbs down and 4 months post op
