  1. Hi Everyone,

I had surgery on 4/20/15 down 35 or so pounds.

My WLS journey/plan is a little different my surgeon and NUT does not promote the Protein drink at all. I eat 3 meals a day soft foods 1/4 - 1/2 cup of food per meal including 2-3 oz of Protein no snacking, however when I get hungry I will eat a piece of cheese or lunchmeat.

I returned to work on 5/18 and I haven't been tired yet thank God because I returned to 2 jobs. I'm thinking because I don't do a lot of exercise and I really need to but that may be why I'm not getting tired.

But I'm afraid I'm going to fail because I'm not exercising and I'm snacking.

I need to be more accountable about counting calories. Does anyone have an easy calorie counting plan?

  2. One of my best friend at work is a really big guy. I'd say he's well over 400 pounds. He's one of only two coworkers who know about my surgery and one of only two people I told who were opposed to my surgery. I wish there was some way to change his thinking about WLS, because I think it would be very beneficial for him. He's in his early 40s and already has knee and back issues due to his weight. I try to just be a good example of what WLS can achieve, but I don't dare bring up the subject of HIM getting the surgery, because I know he was opposed to my having it. It's such a sensitive subject, which is unfortunate, because I think if we were able to bring it up in a relaxed and casual way, it might really help a lot of people in our lives.

My niece who will be 40 next year is like a sister to me and she's over 400 pounds and I wish she would have taken this journey with me, however she is totally against it.

She had a stomach virus a few years ago and lost about 75 lbs (have since gained it back) and the doctors could never figure out what it was, so she says that's why she doesn't want to have WLS.

She loves to travel and every time we go somewhere I'm the one concerned about her fitting into the seats or whatever. She don't appear to have any worry about it.

Hopefully she will follow my lead once I'm sleeved and doing well.

  3. Hi Katanabutterfly,

I live in the East Bay and I'm pre-op, should get my surgery date next week.

Having my surgery at Kaiser Richmond and they have meetings every 1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings.

I don't think you have to be a member, I'm going for the first time on March 18th.

    Hi NorCal peeps!

I live in the East Bay, work in the South Bay.

Good to see others here. Yay local friends.

Would love to find a support group around here. Just to check in from time to time.

  4. I'm going through Kaiser Richmond,Ca and I have 6 more pounds to lose before I can get a surgery date.

I have my psych evaluation next Tuesday I'm hoping that I have lost the 6 pounds.

They told me 1200 calories a day too, but I'm not counting calories I'm doing low carbs and no sugar.

Dr. Baggs is my surgeon and told me that was ok.

    Who's your Dr.?
