    Second surgery!?!?

Thankyou. I do too. I'm hoping by the grace of God it just dissapears before my next appointment! There is hope because I was able to get down some Powerade zero yesterday and anything flavored is usually a no-go!

    Second surgery!?!?

Not a dumb question at all. We have tried. I'm on the highest dose of Nexium. Even tried the Nexium crystals that you mix up. The pill works much better btw. I have a follow up in 2 weeks and if this PPI isn't helping he will plan the surgery. He said that doing it now instead of later is the best. My acid is sizzling hot. Literally. It sizzles throughout my esophagus and stomach all day and all night with no relief. You can hear it all day. He said that this bad of acid can burn through things. And with my stomach being so small there's no room for error. He said we could wait....take the high dose of Nexium for months and my body get too "used" to it. Then have to start all over with everything and have to have bypass close to goal weight. There's also a chance it could go away with weightloss. I've been sleeping sitting straight up for 21 days now and can only eat cottage cheese. I've lost 33 lbs in 21 days. My first sip of water in the morning boils for almost two hours. This isn't your regular indigestion. This is hot lava. Hot burning lava ......believe me I don't want to go back under. My incisions reopened, anesthesia, my surgeon is now 6 hours away from me, a week in a hotel at my expense plus missed work for both me & the hubby, someone to keep my child etc....I want to keep my sleeve! But I can't live with this lava.

    Full liquid diet need help

Pinterest has some great recipes. Full liquids pretty much means you can eat soup even creamed soup just with the chunks strained. Progresso makes some good Light soups. Try the chicken enchilada! Those are good if you're craving some kind of "normal -ness". Of course the healthy request tomato soup, I liked it thinned with some skim milk. I made ham and beans and strained the juice for me. It didn't give me gas like I had expected. I also made a home-made potato soup but made it low fat. I diced & boiled one potato until it was just complete mush. Added one tiny square of velveeta 2% cheese like a tbsp melted. And then added a good bit of skim milk. I ate that ONE day. It's not the best choice but you have to just survive the 2 weeks of full liquid diet. Creamed potatoes were on my list though but your dr may have different rules. Most of the soups I added unflavored protein powder in. So I thinned them all with skim milk. Definitely google "bariatric full liquid". Good luck to you!
  8. I've been taking it very easy. I'm on Purées. For the most part I stick to cottage cheese because of the convenience & my sleeve loves it. I put all my food in small Dixie cups so not to overdo it. Last night I made lasagna for my family and Eggface's ricotta bake for me..and forgot the Ricotta in mine! (Serious). I was eating it and I kept thinking it was very quiche-like and solid (from the egg) but that a lot of my friends had said they ate this throughout pureed??. I chewed a million times but it was so good. I got about a Tsp down and a wave of severe nausea came over me. Panting like a dog, dizziness, ears ringing, I didn't know if I was gonna die or puke or pass out then about 5 minutes later it quit. Still nauseous and cramping badly all night long. Do you think this is typical dumping? Has any sleevers done this from the wrong food and did it damage anything?

    Gastric sleeve Dumping

Thankyou for your replies. No I never actually dumped it. I wanted to..just to get some relief but it just passed. I was left with cramping and I felt like I do after a stomach virus. I know I won't be eating that for the rest of my life. I'm going to stick to my cottage cheese and wait on these new recipes. I never want to feel that again. Not to mention I made it to my neighbors house with my 3 year old while panting like a gorilla because I thought I was going to pass out home alone. Embarrassing to say the least.

    Body jerk

Like your jumping off a mountain? Lol I had it too. It was almost funny. I would jerk so hard I'd wake the hubby, the dog, and myself up. It also doesn't feel great on your new tummy but it's definitely completely normal after surgery.
  11. I was worried as well about the meds. Most of my meds I could have gotten in liquid form post-op. . I didnt have a rebound migraine from the pain meds until about 3rd day postop but I was also dehydrated. Also, I havent had to use it yet but they make a Zomig nasal spray to replace a migraine pill. I take Imitrex but Zomig will do the job as well. Definitely keeping well hydrated will prevent alot. Im 15 days post-op and Ive taken my small thyroid pill and my bp meds from day one. I was scared to, but theyve never given me a problem. If its small you can take it. And Id research or ask dr about the ones you could crush...not time release or XR. Hope this helps.
  12. I start purées soon. What do you scramble eggs in to avoid a stuck-on mess? Is there a certain healthier butter that is allowed or preferred?
  13. Im 12 days post op. I was on it. They were fine with it. The nurse can help you post-op. I was embarassed but they never made a thought about it. One young male nurse said "oh well thats a first for me" and I said "well, you must not have had your nursing license very long"...and I was right. It happens often with the stress of surgery..throws your body off. Also a 2 week mission trip to Honduras will do that too...with no running water or toilets.

    3 days w sleeve = 3 days w heartburn

I actually just called my doctor about this because it's interfering with my fluid and protein intake and waiting on a response. I'm Prilosec 20mg. I'm still sleeping sitting up. This morning I took a sip of water to moisten my mouth and it boiled for about 2 hours. I'm 12 days postop. I do know that a lot of PPI takes a little while to start working. Like 3 days...I hope you get some relief. I've never known GERD like this and have had it since I was 20.
  15. I am only almost two weeks out so I'm not the best source for an answer. But I've had them since I was 6. Yes 6! Back when liquid Motrin was the only thing available for kids headaches. Before surgery I took Ibuprofen 800 if I even thought I was getting one about twice a day along with a real Coca-Cola. And Imitrex if I didn't catch it in time. I frequented the military hospital when they got too bad and they knew me well. I did have a few on the liquid diet due to sodium and stuff and on the 3rd day post op quit my pain meds because Percocet gives me a rebound migraine BUT I have not had one since then. I have never in my life gone this long without a migraine. So I hope you have the same results as me and this surgery helps your migraine. I know I'm no help to your question but wanted to share.
  16. Imitrex is a life saver!!! I've relied on that for years. It's definitely worth it's weight in gold plus more. Hope you feel better! A lasting migraine is the worse especially since you're still healing.

    Catheters

Were you able to talk to your doc since you initially posted? My thought is hopefully your doc just decides to not use one at all. Tell him that you will not consent for one and that if he deemed it absolutely necessary that they would have to do a supra...hopefully that alone will have him make an exception for you. Because I may be wrong, I don't work in OR but I'm thinking they might have to have radiology for that? Also, if you're doing your procedure through a hospital there is a patient advocate you could start with. but I recall when I went through Admissions is when I consented to different things such as catheters etc so that would be a back up? Eh not great of a help I know but I'd definitely start with Patient Advocate. They're there to help with things like that. They could help guide you on getting the supra.

    Any March 3rd sleevers

I am having trouble getting my fluids in as well. Its like I sip all day and before I know it, its time to go to bed and Ive only gotten like 26 ounces in! And I know first hand how it affects us. Ive had to go to the ER for dehydration already once.

    What to scramble eggs in?

Thanks for the info! I had no idea you could still use butter! In moderation of course. Thankyou for your replys.
  22. sarahbeth3569

    I want meat!

I am right there with you! When do you start Purées?
  23. Silly question I know, but I'm on Full Liquids and currently eating a nice enchilada creamed soup. It just occurred to me that I'm drinking my water while eating my soup. They're both liquids, so does that matter? Am I washing away my "food"?

    Drinking Fluids with Full Liquid

    Awesome! Thanks for your replies.

    Eggs

I know I'm late in this post but this sounds so good! I'm 8 days post-op and plan on trying eggs in about 4 days or so. Were you eating the over easy from the beginning with the cheese or did you try scrambled first? I ask because ive always eaten over easy eggs almost pureed all my life so that would be divine!
