  1. This happened to me tonight at my mother's birthday party! I actually haven't had any real cravings until tonight, I just really wanted a slice of that ice cream cake and knew it wasn't a good choice. I'm about 3.5 weeks out from surgery. I reminded myself that I had frozen yogurt earlier this week and felt a little better. Eyes on the prize....the cake won't give me health and long life the way eating well will.
  2. I've heard a few people mention they are using a straw. My doctor specifically told me not to use one because it was dangerous due to the sucking that would stress my new stomach plus add air to my already gassy insides.
  3. I was sleeved 5/21, and today I had a 32g protein shake for breakfast and then 1.5-2 tbsp of refried beans for lunch, a half cup of cream of chicken soup for small snack and then a half of a hard boiled egg for dinner. I literally couldn't get the whole egg in! I will have a nectar protein drink mixed in with my water for the rest of my day to get in all my protein. Today was a real reality check for me as to how small my sleeve really is!
  4. So I'm almost 2 weeks out and am on pureed foods. I've found that too much lactose makes my new tummy and intestinal tract very angry so I'm looking for creative ways to puree. Tonight I purchased a homemade chicken pot pie from my local butcher and scooped out the inside, discarding the crust, and put it in my ninja and added some low sodium chicken broth to thin it out. I only had about 3 or 4 spoonfuls before feeling full but it was pure heaven! Plus I can have it for dinner again tomorrow. Happy day! What's your favorite soft / puree concoction?
  5. Tonight this theory was tested and found to be true. I had about 1.5-2 oz of Chilean sea bass and had to call it quits!
  6. I'm excited to try some Chilean Sea Bass tonight for dinner! It will be my first time eating fish since the surgery! Can't wait!
  7. Had it last night finally and it was great! Tolerated about 3/4 cup
  8. Great news all around. Here's to a great week of rediscovering our palettes!
  9. Had my first post op appointment with my surgeon today! I weighed in on his scale at 226! I was 242 at my last pre op appointment about 2.5 weeks ago! He said I'm healing really well, cleared me to drive again (woo hoo!) and said I can start moderate exercise! I started pureed foods today and had some cottage cheese and a little egg drop soup. I go back in 3 weeks and he said he expects me to have lost at least another 10lbs by then. Hope everyone is doing well!
  10. Today is day 7 post op. Would egg drop soup from a Chinese food place be considered a full liquid? I start pureed foods Sat I think it should be ok, I just wanted to see if anyone else ate it this early?
  11. Yes it does get better! Day 4 was a turning point for me.
  12. I've experienced the same thing if I don't wait long enough between sips. It's been a great reminder of the fact that I need to take my time and slooow down. I'm 6 days out. It has gotten better over the past 3 days.
  13. Haha, you read my mind today. Must be a 1 week out thing. Just finished day 6 and thought the same thing!
  14. Ok great. I am supposed to have 70g a day. I'm at 70! So I'm good then!
  15. I'm on day 6 post op and feeling really good today. But not sure if I'm taking in too much or just enough. I'm on full liquids still and today I had a 32g protein shake for breakfast, been drinking water with syntrax nectar 23g of protein in it, had 1 whole plain Greek yogurt for lunch (which I haven't been able to finish one of until today). Continued to have my nectar water and then had a tiny bit of broth at dinner - maybe 1/4 cup. Should I count that as dinner or still go for one more protein shake? I know I can't stretch my new stomach with liquids but feel a little unsure. Any help would be appreciated!
  16. You're not kidding! I am not an all night stomach sleeper, but for some reason it's how I always fall asleep. When did your Dr. say you could go back to it? I think mine said 2 weeks. I'll have to ask him at my post op follow up appointment on Friday.
  17. Hi Rebecca! So happy to hear you're doing well! I'm also doing well. I am still on full liquids until Saturday, so I can't wait to have some cottage cheese! Energy level is about 3/4 of the way back to normal. Here's a little tmi, lol, today I was happy to finally have a bm since surgery on Thursday!
  18. Congrats on your video. I enjoyed it. I also have used my weight as a crutch to indirectly protect myself. I had to pay a lot of therapists to be able to say that today lol I also am a professional and fly often. I've always been so uncomfortable on flights and was always centimeters from needing an extender. I was sleeved this past Thursday the 21st and am feeling much better than I was yesterday. Today I have figured out to pace myself and take small sips of the nectar protein shakes throughout the day. Pretty much always have a drink by your side and sip slowly.
  19. Love your philosophy and new address. I'm one of your new neighbors and love living here sleeved 3 days ago.
  20. I'm sorry it's been difficult for you. Praying for it to be controlled asap. Let us know how you're doing.
  21. I'm 2 days post op and the gas x is helping.
