  1. Has anyone worked with Drs. Goldberg and Krieger in Fairfax? I'm down from 265 to 150 and think I'm just about ready to pursue reconstructive surgery. I've been looking into surgeons who specialize in post-bariatric work and their practice keeps coming up. If you know anything about them, including preferring one over the other - please share!

    Procedure costs.

can i ask where in VA and who your doctor is? I'm just starting to research now and would love some good referrals. Thanks! krisa
  3. my doctor warned me mushies are prime time to gain or stop losing because people tend to add fattening things to make food mushie (mayo, butter, etc.) - don't worry, try to make healthy choices and keep healing!
  4. So I've gotten the dreaded diarrhea. I'm not sure why it's starting now (liquid in-liquid out), when I was on a liquid diet 10 days pre-op and have been on a liquid diet post-op for 7 days now (17 days total). Does anyone know if we can take anything for it, like Immodium? K banded - 12.11.07 pounds lost - 19.5

    Lap band yesterdayi

i had my surgery yesterday too, also outpatient. i'm drinking room temp gatorade, Water and chicken broth. not tasty, but it'll do. it's just a few days until full liquids - you can do it! Kris
  6. I'm scheduled for surgery on Tuesday and, this being winter and all, have developed a sore throat. Does anyone know if the anesthesiologist will cancel my surgery for that? (Because it affects intubation?) TIA! Kris
  7. Thanks for all the feedback and advice. I wasn't planning to tell them about the sore throat, but they would definitely see it for themselves when they went to intubate me. In any case, I took lots of airborne gummis (lo-carb!) and my sore throat is totally gone. I never developed any other symptoms of cough/cold, so I'm a "go" for tomorrow without worry now. Thanks again! Kris
  8. my lungs are clear, i'm just a little sniffly (kind of permanently with allergies). but thanks for the "good offense" suggestion - i'll get lots of zinc and Vitamin c for the next few days and see if that helps ... K
  9. Hello! I'm scheduled for surgery on 12.11.07 with Dr. Eric Pinnar of Synchrony Health in Reston, Virginia. I'm super excited about losing this excess weight and being able to set a good example and be more active with my two young children. The pre-op diet is a little rough - I definitely feel hungry a few times throughout the day, but it's worth it to make sure my surgery goes well and my recovery is as smooth as possible. Kris
  10. I do think you're right to be worried about the Protein and carb levels. I'm on a liquid low-carb diet now for my surgery on Tuesday (12.11.07 - yippee!). And I have to keep my protein above 70 and my carbs below 50, while my total calories must be under 900. I too love the unjury Protein powder (chocolate mixed with hood calorie counter milk and strawberry sorbet mixed with crystal light lemonade) to help me stay within those guidelines. I supplement the shakes with Soup, sugar-free Jello, and sugar-free popsicles - all on my doctor's approved pre-surgery diet list HTH! Kris
  11. you might try unjury protein powder. i love it and it's not nasty at all. i do have to use a hand blender to get it really well mixed. the chocolate with calorie counter milk is good, and strawberry sorbet mixed with water and crytal light lemonade tastes like a strawberry lemonade.
  12. I just started today and it's going pretty well. I tried lots of Protein flavors and blends over the past month to find ones I would like and can stick with. I use unjury - chocolate with hood calorie counter milk 2x a day (tastes just like chocolate milk); strawberry sorbet mixed with Water and crystal light lemonade flavor (strawberry lemonade); vanilla mixed with water and crystal light orange or diet v-8 tropical splash (kind of like a creamsicle flavor).
