    The Struggle is REAL

What an awful time for him to do that! I obviously do not know all the particulars, but there are a few things that I do know. 1. he is not worth you making yourself sick over. You cannot eat to comfort yourself after WLS... especially too soon, you will cause yourself so much physical pain and you will be in the bathroom throwing up! AND potentially mess up the whole procedure. 2. you did not do this surgery for him (I hope)_ therefore you need to be strong for yourself and be the one that takes care of yourself. 3. men come and go... there is never a guarantee with any relationship~ although it feels like your life is over... It is just beginning. 4. There are a tons of people out there rooting for you to succeed! keep you chin up and make the best of your decision to have the surgery and work toward your final goal!

    Me!

Before and after my life changing decision to have bariatric surgery

    I'm afraid!

I too thought about the sleeve and hearing that it can make gerd worse and if you do end up with esophageal (sp) cancer there is not any stomach tissue to use to repair if surgery is required! That scared me more than having a RNY. On June 9th I had my lap band out (which had moved and was causing me tremendous pain) and had the RNY done. I have had very little acid reflux, before surgery it was actually a lot worse. I have had no complications and I would do it again in a heartbeat! but, the bottom line is you need to do what is right for you and be comfortable with your decision, after all you and only you have to live with whatever decision you make! Good luck to you my friend and take care.
  4. I no longer have to shop in the "woman's" section... I can shop in the Jr or Misses section! woo hoo!!!!

    How did you know?

I was 32 had recently become an aunt again, it was hard to breath to bend over long enough to change my niece or to bathe her. Then I decided that I was not feeling my best and went to my pcp. She ran some tests and the news she gave me scared the crap out of me. high blood pressure high cholesterol pre-diabetic joint pain depression just to name a few. yeah, it was time for me to do something!

    Do you use PB2?

I tried the chocolate shake with PB2 and a banana and I found that it was too sweet and it made me feel ill. I loved it before surgery but after my no sugar, no fat, no anything post surgery... it was not my best choice!
  7. according to my Doctor and Nutritionist they are both very important. I have tried just about every brand/flavor/combination of protein shake and found that there are some I can do and I found an online site that has recipes to try as well. the other thing is putting unflavored protein powder in everything you eat and you can also put in into your liquids so that you get everything you need. my requirements are a minimum of 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of liquids each day... I have found that if I meet both of them I lose weight regularly and if I don't I stop losing all together! good luck!
  8. wow, only two pounds from your short term goal is amazing. You still have two more days and if you keep working it will happen! You got this!
  9. I had my surgery Tuesday June 9th. I am doing very well. Went to work for a couple of hours yesterday. It was tiring but not exhausting and the pain was not too bad either. Good luck tomorrow. I will be thinking of you!

    Protein

My requirements are 60 grams per day minimum.
  11. I actually had the band removal surgery and rny at the same time. I have 8 incisions all over my abdomen. The only one that has really been painful is the one on my left side. You can buckle your seat belt and use the pillow as support on the outside of it. I also was given an abdominal support garment at the hospital and it has been a blessing! Good luck with everything and take care.
