Don't beat me up....
@@_Kate_ - Sorry that didn't work for you! I wouldn't think the liquids for a few days would hurt then, as long as you get your Protein goal in. Give it a try. Can't hurt! (But PS I just saw you posted re meds - maybe the HRT will help? Have you had your thyroid checked? My Synthroid wasn't absorbing correctly and my TSH was quite high at about 12 weeks post-op - 4.76. That is HIGH for me. I had my thyroid ablated due to Graves Disease so I have no functioning thyroid and survive off replacement only - much like my HRT since I no longer have those parts either. I feel much better close to 1-1.5 TSH.) My weight has been a very strange path all along though I'm not sure I really have hit a stall oddly. I may go 4 days without loss but then will lose 2 pounds, then up 1 pound, then down 1/2 pound then up a pound, etc. etc. It just keeps adding up though, so I haven't had to deal with the stall - thank goodness - so not sure I have great advice! Just sympathies and hugs from across the pond!

Mood taking a dive
Yep. I had to increase my thyroid med and my depression med (Brintellix). Very patiently waiting for both to kick in. Had a much better weekend yesterday and today than last weekend when I couldn't motivate myself to get off the couch, so hoping the med increase is starting to work.

Pre op 6month supervised diet
You are more than half way there! You can do this! Mine was only 3 months. 6 months is tough. Congrats for sticking with it!

Don't beat me up....
I had to go on liquid again due to a stricture. It was brutal! (Not just the vomiting part but the being restricted to liquids again. Having said that, I did lose 10 pounds in that 2 weeks. Not the way I want to do it But it seems that liquid only for a couple of days might jumpstart you. I have read others though actually increased their calories to change a stall.

Quinoa or couscous, after surgery?
I'll be curious to see others advise. My NUT just told me I could try quinoa in small portions. It is Protein but also carb (though good carb). I've never had it (even pre-op). I am about 3 1/2 months post-op.

Thank you, LULULEMON!
What a great story!

Help.....need ideas
@@jrivers03 - I suppose you would need to check your individual plan but for most of us the liquid per-op diet consists of shakes, broth, sugar free popsicles, jello, any sugar free liquid .

post op liquid phase question
Not a silly question. I asked the same. It is fine to drink with but just don't drink too fast and get overfull - especially if you are trying to get your Protein in.

Best protein powder for severe lactose intolerance?
I use Precision Engineering Whey Protein Isolate. I think it says 99% lactose free. Not sure if that is good enough but you might check it out. They also sell it in 1lb bags in addition to the 5lb jars so you would be able to invest a little less to give it a try. Both chocolate and vanilla are very good. Also, look at Fairview milk which I think (not positive) is lactose free.

HAD TO SHARE! protein milkshake is the best for those who just can't on the shakes
OP, I am sorry shakes aren't working for you but you cannot honestly think eating ice cream at 3 weeks post-op is a good idea, right? At 3 1/2 months post-op I am only taking in 600is calories per day (per my NUT which frankly seems a little low but another post for another time). If I were to have a 400 calorie shake, I would pretty much be done for the day. No one here is deliberately trying to be rude or put you down, but you have to understand how ridiculous it sounds to 99% of us that not only would you be eating ice cream at this stage but that your NUT would actually approve it. My NUT, my surgeon, my therapist would all completely flip out if I told them I was eating ice cream. We all know how tough the first month is truly, and it is so nice to find something you can finally tolerate, but I promise you that your loss is not sustainable with that kind of drink. As others pointed out, there are so many here that don't have a NUT and don't get any guidance and we just want to be sure they know that 99% of us think this is a bad idea. There was another poster a while back that at 6 twas eating bread, rice and Pasta. I am sure your NUT has told you that is a bad idea too and we told him that at that time also. Don't take offense. We are just trying to protect others who don't have a NUT guiding them.

How many carbs do you shoot for?
I am 3 1/2 months out and my NUT just keeps saying to target carbs which are "less than your protein". Having said that, I am generally less than 50g carb per day with 80-90g Protein, but I think I might need to increase it some as I don't really have energy to exercise.

Commiserating needed
I hope I can encourage you some. My loss was very similar at your stage and I too was discouraged. And @@Babbs reminded me how solid the loss was. Even the first 2 months I felt like my loss was slow but it just kept adding up and all of a sudden I am down 75 pounds (50 pounds since actual surgery). How did that happen? Like it appeared overnight, seriously. So for now, take your measurements, buy a new shirt or pants, try on your old clothes, etc. Just revel in the fact that you ARE down and GIRL you are DOWN 73 pounds??!! I know that a lot of that was before surgery, but if you can do that without your tiny pouch, you can ABSOLUTELY do this WITH your tiny pouch! It will add up. Trust that it will.

Feel like I didn't have RNY. Very depressed. Help?
Agree you are eating too much. Here's my tip - set a timer for 1 1/12 minutes and ONLY take a bite when that timer goes off. Set another timer (or watch the clock) and at no more than 30 minutes, stop eating. Throw your food away. Make sure your bites are relatively small. I would be surprised if you could get in even 1/2 cup that way. I know I can't. What do your food logs say? How many calories / Protein / fat / carbs are you taking in per day? What did your NUT say? Give us an idea of your daily food and maybe we can make some suggestions in addition to reducing volume. I saw your other post and you have some HUGE NSV's which you definitely need to rejoice in. Have you taken your measurements? That may help you see the changes.

Daily Caloric Intake?
Thanks @wlwarrior. I thought I had read you say this earlier. I think it's too low too

Right back pain.
That's good news. Glad you called them.
-
Right back pain.
Yep - but mine was a kidney stone (had this issue long before WLS). Any chance it could be that? Or more likely it could be the way you were positioned during surgery...

Halfway there!
As of this morning, I am exactly half-way to my goal - both in pounds and BMI! It felt slow in the beginning and then all of a sudden the pounds are adding up. Of course the last 10 pounds were very fast because of the stricture I had, but still - I am HALFWAY!!!! The thought of needing to lose 77 pounds is still a little overwhelming but no where NEAR as overwhelming as having to lose 154 pounds!!

Liver Shrink Diet causing Liver enzymes to be high?
That does seem very odd. Have you started a new med or supplements that could be causing it?

Daily Caloric Intake?
I asked my NUT this just yesterday. I am 3 months out and she said to average around 600 calories unless I had done HEAVY exercise that day (not just walking) and then I could add 100-200 calories. She said long term maintenance is between 1000-1200 calories. That sounds a little low to me, but I will worry about that when I get there.

Esophageal dilation b4 bypass?
I would ask your GI dr but it sounds to me like it would be wise to get it done before the bypass.
