Ugh that's tough. Hope you survived it!

what are you eating?
Look at website thworkdaccordibgtoeggface. She has a link there for some pureed ideas. Ricotta bake is really good. During pureed stage I ate hummus mixed with a little unflavored Protein, Greek yogurt mixed with vanilla Protein powder, sugar free fat free pudding snack mixed which chocolate protein powder, pimento cheese made with half mayo half Greek yogurt, laughing cow cheese wedges, fat free refried Beans with cheese melted on top. This is a tough stage. You just have to bear it and get thru it unfortunately. In the next phase you can try scrambled eggs with cheese, tuna salad, chicken salad, fish, etc. For me I had to chop up the meat really fine before mixing it with the mayo or yogurt or even hummus. But it turned out I had a stricture so I may be a little different than what most can eat. Good luck!

Can't Figure This All Out…Need Help!
So sorry you are having such trouble! I promise it does get easier. I just wanted to tell you that my Dr said Zofran doesn't work if you are dehydrated. You don't want tobdrink because you're nauseated though and it becomes a vicious cycle. (Been there. Done that). Call your surgeon and ask if they will prescribe either Phenegran cream which you use on your wrist or a patch that goes behind your ear (I can't remember the name). That will help. Also if you are not taking acid reducer, you definitely need to. You will need to take these long term. Best wishes! Hope you have a better weekend!

3 days post op
Day 3 is a rough day after any surgery (not sure why but it has happened to me with every surgery I have had). Know that it will get easier over the next few days. I drank a lot of Swansons Beef broth (can't stand it now because I had it so much!) It was very tasty at that time though. Just don't make too much at once because it will get cold before you can drink it. OR get one of those coffee cup electric warmers and keep the cup on that and it will keep it warm for a while longer. hang in there!

Need letter from Primary Care doctor, and I don't have one
Hmm. That stinks. Hopefully your surgeon has a suggestion?

Need letter from Primary Care doctor, and I don't have one
Why won't you OB/GYN write the letter? My endocrinologist wrote mine but honestly I see him more than PCP. Cigna approved right away (thank goodness). Otherwise I would consider setting up a physical with a new PCP. Would agree getting a recommendation from your bariatric surgeon is a good idea.

7 Months PO and need snack options
Oh a d I also use Quest bars sparingly. It is the highest protein / lowest carbs I have found. I picked up some Premier Protein bars and they are good but man are they high calories! I have to be very careful with those.

7 Months PO and need snack options
I haven't tried these yet but my NUT suggested nut butters which are in small individual squeeze packets. I think the brand was Justin's? Also she recommended Krave Jersey which she said is a little more tender than some. I have never been to Trader Joe's but I know there is one not too far away. The grilled chicken strips sound good. I'm going to have to check that out!

FOOD????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
For what it's worth, my therapist who specializes in not just Bariatric surgery patients but also eating disorders (and a recovered/ing bulimic herself) did say that chewing food and spitting it out is a form of bulimia. Be very very careful with that. @@MzStockton agree it is HARD! I watched a lot of Food network which was very strange but it is food I wouldn't have eaten anyway even if I could have. ???? you have made it 7 days now. You will get food soon and I cannot tell you how good that first bite of mush will taste! Hang in there. You got this! And PS I definitely went to bed a few times pretty early just to get away from the kitchen and thought of food!

Agree. No place better than your own bed!

First hang up - sleep study
@@Dar200 - I thinking is fairly new in the last year or two. Not sure it works if you already know you have apnea but it's a good first start.

Traveling! Need soft food ideas for flights.
You might call TSA and see if you can get any liquids through win a drs note requiring it to be medically necessary.

Period?
Yep. Mirena hurt but only briefly. If you can stand it, it is worth it.

Cigna insurance tn
Cigna approved mine very quickly. Submitted Friday at noon and approval by Monday morning. Just make sure you have everything including letter of recommendation for surgery from someone other than your surgeon.

Calories at 8 Months?

First hang up - sleep study
When I had my study earlier this year, I had previously been trying to set up the test through the hospital and she told me lots of insurance companies were moving towards the at-home sleep studies as much as they could get away with it. Apparently the sleep lab test are very expensive so as typical with insurance, anything to save money....

First hang up - sleep study
@@ange117 - Yep. Same thing happened to me. The insurance required a peer to peer with my surgeon which she did over the phone and then insurance approved at-home study only - which was fine with me. Much easier than sleeping in an unfamiliar place. I had no apnea (as I told my dr before the test but whatever). Just stay in touch with your dr office to see what they are doing next and making sure the peer to peer gets done so you can the test. PS - Are you SURE you aren't having some daytime sleepiness.....

Calories at 8 Months?
@@Indieflickers - I too am still pretty tired but I know it is my thyroid. It was high at my 3 month checkup so they adjusted med but only a little and it is taking too long to catch up! At least I hope that is what it is and I won't be this tired forever....

Hummus and ?
I also ate mine with a spoon early on and then also used it as a dip to keep my meats moist going down. I love hummus. There is a recipe on here somewhere for chicken bake covered in hummus. I gotta find that and try it...

Calories at 8 Months?
I am a bit of a broken record with this, but have you had your thyroid checked? And what about acid reflux? Both of those issues have caused me to have hunger (or hunger feeling) in the past. For what it's worth, my NUT says 1000-1200 calories would be maintenance. I think that is too low personally but I am only 4 months out, so I don't know for sure for a while.

Toothache / Ibuprofen
Great suggestions guys! Why didn't I think of Oragel or cold compress?! You will be happy to know that I did not take it. I took Tylenol and went to bed. Jaws are still sore today but not as bad as yesterday. Think I will try the Oragel and the cold compress after dinner. Thanks everyone! I have an appt with my PCP tomorrow and may ask what solutions there might be other than NSAIDs for that next headache or toothache - preferably non-narcotic.

The 'Other' doctors and what they say...
First, I have had the same issues with some if my doctors. My endocrinologist was all for it but he studies weight/metabolism/hormone issues (not to mention treated me for diabetes). He has been very supportive. My other doctors aren't as educated in that specific area. Second, I was just thinking about the whole "can't u just eat right" comments. And almost 4 months in, here is what I decided. I am eating right now but without the surgery, I just couldn't sustain on this low calories. Iowa's so hungry and would go to bed hungry. (I'm talking my stomach growling hungry). With the surgery, I am not hungry and WHILE I am learning new habits and getting my body out of the heavy carbs cravings, I am able to lose weight which then encourages me to stay on track and lose more. It is a tool and if u do not use it correctly, it will not work but if u treat it as the tool it is and then use that time to get healthy with a NUT and therapist, then it gives u the time u need to get it done and get to the maintenance faster using the tools u learned along the way.
