  1. Good for you!! You'll be amazed about how much you learn in the seminar! I know I was! After I attended my first seminar I was hooked on trying to gather as much research as possible! And Bariatricpal.com is a really good resource! You'll find that everyone here are always willing to help answer any questions you may have! Good luck to you on your journey!
  2. Wishing you a speedy recovery @@theotherfatgirl! I finally got the call yesterday - I've been approved for surgery! Yay!! Still hoping I can be a June sleever, but it looks like it will be July. Either way, I'll take it! I'll know my pre-op date today!! Let the countdown begin!!!
  3. I haven't gotten my surgery date yet, but I finished my six month weight management May 19. It was submitted to my insurance on May 26 - insurance received it on May 28, and found out I was approved for surgery yesterday, and will know when my pre-op appointment is today. They told me that I'll get my surgery date once I go to my pre-op. With my two week pre-op diet - I figure I'll have a July surgery date. (I hope)! So your surgery date will be depending on the surgeons schedule and how fast you get everything approved/scheduled. Good luck!!
  4. Of all days - in a hurry this morning. . . forgot my cell phone at home... I get home, notice I missed a call - voice mail from my surgeons office - they received verbal approval! Calling to schedule my pre-op tomorrrow! Let the fun begin!!! Yay!!!!
  5. I had a list of items my surgeon required before they would submit to insurance. - Cardiologist clearance - had several tests my cardiologist ordered before clearance - EKG, Echo cardiogram, Calcium Score & sleep study. - 2 psychiatric sessions - 5 year weight records - 1 group session - Six appointments with NUT and NP (as required by insurance) I had my last appointment - May 19. Right now I'm just waiting for insurance approval. It was submitted to insurance on May 26, and received on May 28. This waiting period is insane! I was hoping I'd hear something back by now!!
  6. Good luck to you!! I'm also waiting for insurance approval. They told me it could take up to 15 working days before it's approved. Tomorrow will be the 10th day!! I'm so stressed out!!
  7. Yay!! I'm still waiting for my approval to come through. Hope to hear something either today or Monday!!
  8. Hi! I wish I could answer your question! But I think that would be a question to ask your PCP or surgeon. Good luck to you!
  9. I'm right there with you dear!! My paperwork was submitted to insurance May 26, and UHC received it May 28. It's a waiting game now. . . Doesn't look like I'll be June for me either - taking in account for two week pre-op diet plus a two-day liquid diet. Impatiently waiting Summer Sleevers we are!! :-)
  10. I called UHC this morning. . . They received the packet on May 28, and It's still under review . . . Ugh!! Could take up to 15 business days to get an answer. I hope not!! I'm starting to think that I'll be a July sleever. . . Feeling discouraged!
  11. @Sleevefornellie keep me posted on your surgery date! @@ShrinkingPeach - Thank you! Can't wait!! @@mallen1895 that's awesome that you got approved within a week! I hope that I hear back soon! Today marks my one week since my patient navigator submitted it to insurance. I hope it won't be much longer! The wait is making me crazy!!
  12. Yes, there are a couple - Impatiently waiting...June sleevers? & June Sleevers! I'm trying to be patient, but not knowing is starting to get the best of me. . .
  13. Good for all of you!! I'm a former smoker having quit and started back up several times. Finally ended it once an for all the beginning of November 2014, and I don't even miss it!
  14. Thanks! It's been a week today, and I want to call them so bad!! But I'm trying to refrain!
  15. I believe it has to be a supervised weight loss plan like Weight Watchers or similar.
  16. Good luck today Beth! Wishing you a speedy recovery! Gina, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband!! I hope he gets better soon, and hope they're able to move your surgery up a few days! What a bummer!!
  17. I met with my surgeon on the very first appointment. We talked about surgery at length and she wanted to make sure that I knew exactly this is what I wanted. I won't talk to her again until my pre-op. I know this is not the case for several, as every doctor is different.
  18. Welcome @usedtobeaskater! You've come to the right place for support! I agree with what Jane13 said. Water is key for losing weight. If you're a coffee or soda drinker like I was - now is the time to start weaning yourself off. They'll want you to be off caffeine before surgery. Another thing I'd like to add is do as much research as possible! If you have a question, ask it. There are so many people on this site that have been so helpful in answering questions! A good site to diary what you eat is MyFitnessPal.com - it's helped me to stay on track and you can print your food diary for your NUT appointments. Good luck with your journey, it will go fast!!
  19. Congrats on getting your date!! I'm patiently waiting too!! It was submitted to insurance last Tuesday (May 26). . . It hasn't been a week, but this wait is driving me crazy!! It's been a long six months!!
  20. Looks delicious! Good luck with your diet! I'll be starting mine shortly!
  21. I can relate @Big Opie. I started in December, and had my sixth and final weight loss appt. May 19. I just got the call from my patient navigator yesterday that my surgeon & medical team approved me for surgery, and she was submitting it to insurance. I never thought that day was ever going to get here! Keep your chin up! You'll have your fifth appointment in June - you're almost there!
  22. Yep! Caffeine withdraw is definitely real! I had to wean myself off by doing half & half. Half fully leaded, and half decaf. The headaches were still there, but not as bad... Decaf is okay, but now I find myself not having coffee at all some days and I'm okay with it!
  23. Good luck to all of you next week! I'm hoping and praying I get my insurance approval next week!!
  24. Just got the call from my patient coordinator at my surgeon's office. My medical team reviewed my case, and approved me for surgery. They are now submitting it to insurance for approval! Once they get the approval letter from my insurance, they'll call me for pre-op! Oh my goodness! I'm getting excited and nervous at the same time!!
  25. Welcome! When I decided to have WLS, I received a referral from my PCP. I had to attend a weight loss seminar at my surgeon's clinic. Afterwards they scheduled an appt. for me to meet with my surgeon. My insurance required a six month doctor supervised weight loss program and a psych evaluation before they would approve me. And my surgeon had a list of requirements that I had to complete - which included cardiac clearance, two psych evaluations, last five years of weight loss history, among a few other things. Best advice I could give you is to consult with your primary care physician to see if they can provide you with a referral or call a weight loss clinic to see what your first step would be to start your journey. You may also want to check with your insurance provider to see if they could recommend a surgeon. If you're self pay - I don't know too much about how to find a surgeon in Mexico, but I'm sure that someone who's done it can provide you with good information on how to proceed. Good luck!
