Did anyone like the band better?
MaryE replied to OldMomOf3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No way. The band was absolutely horrible. Eating or drinking alway felt stuck. The sleeve has been such a great tool mi feel normal. I can go out to restaurants or eat with my family without feeling like I'm having a heart attack. My portions are smaller and choices healthier. -
Good luck on your surgery. I had mine on Aprol first this year. Conversion from lap and to sleeve. I am 57 years old. Surgery went perfectly for me no complications good recovery. First week just felt weak until I could start my protein shakes. It truly is a life changing new beginning. I wish you well. All will be fine

burning pain in stomach after drinking cold apple juice
MaryE replied to bumbles's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Apple juice is more acidic than orange juice. Now that you are sleeved you can't tolerate it. -

My Doctor Said the Band Should Come Out -- Looking for Info

1. food won't be the dominant thought but you will feel hungry at mealtime. 2. Thirst is an issue. I rarely get thirsty. You need to track your Water intake to make sure you get what your body needs. Sip, sip, sip. 3. Liquids was only 2 weeks post op moving on to mushy and by two months whole foods but remember to chew well. 4. Haven't heard about the hiney thing though it has far too. Many carbs. Alcohol sounds right. Moderation though empty calories. 5. Bread Pasta and rice should only be brought into diet when at goal weight. Still watch those carbs. 6. I agree that sweets do taste differently after surgery. Tastes even sweeter. Don't crave sweets as I did before. I have allergies and they don't effect the sleeve. Stress effects your stomach whether sleeved not sleeved or banded. And yes if I eat or drink very sweet high fat I get dumping sensation. Ue ice cream ice coffee etc. hope this helps. Good luck -
The day after my surgery I noticed a rash on my face neck and started to spread to my arms. I was allergic to the pain medication and had to discontinue and take Benadryl. Don't ignore the rash ask dr about it. Could be a drug allergy and could only get worse. Good luck on your journey.

Nay the dress dosent flatter your new size. It overwhelmed you.

Thank you catfish. This is the rants and rave section. I come here to see what everyone is bitching about when I get board with the other topics. I am not just a revision to sleeve, trying to loose weight and get healthy person. I have other interests besides my dress size. I'm amused to see what people are pissed off about. Sarah palin is so four years ago. Why aren't more people bitching about how poorly our veterans are treated and the fact that our current president has never stopped campaigning even while the world is burning. RANT

Why are some people so upset with people that are believers. This is still America and so far we still have freedom of religion. And yes my religion is still strong after two thousand years. No one is perfect we all make mistakes. I won't persecute for not believing in God don't belittle believers. Don't bully God loving people.

No crimes were committed. No names not even sex of the patient. The point of this rant wAs not to rant at the office staff but to rant at the patient who blocked three coveted surgical spots.
-
No laws broken. I don't know sex of the patient just herd them saying a patient did not show up for the third time. That's the issue not the alleged gossip.
-
I Was at my doctors office yesterday when I overheard the staff discussing a patient who was a no show for their revision from lap band to sleeve surgery. Oh did I mention for the THIRD time. Now who am I to judge. I can only state how I feel. Which is as we all know there is a process we must go through which takes time. I was looking forward to getting this horrible band out and back on the road to wellness. Doctors can only schedule a certain number of surgeries. That person took up a coveted spot. Now surgery is scary. I certainly wanted to bolt but by the time my date came I knew this was my chance and I was not going to miss out on my new beginning. I was more nervous having the lap band surgery. I feel this patient was not committed to the lifelong process and get out of the way of those who are ready and committed. Stop waiting everyone's time.

GS recovery time and expectations?
MaryE replied to SusanSM's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I understand that it is not recommended to fly for I believe three months to prevent blood clots. Speak with your surgeon. -
Splatt. Thank you for taking the time to respond your words put me at ease. Just feeling a little stressed. Looking to get this journey started. Yes I can't wait to get this band out.
