bonnyr got a reaction from MissRobin in All the Alberta girls
I am about an hour and a half north of Edmonton. Had my sleeve done in Mexicali in December and have not had one minute of regret. Best medical experience I have ever had by far. Just about 80 pounds gone.

Hey there,
I am from northern Alberta, looking for some other Alberta ladies to join.
I am still pre-op but that will change in 18 days! I am very excited but apprehensive all at the same time.

@@bonnyr where in northern alberta? I live in lethbridge down south. I am 15 months post op. Still cold. But I've heard it can take a year or even two for our internal thermostats to readjust to our new weights.

Hate to tell you this but I'm nearly 2 years out. Also lived in northern Alberta until recently and I am still always cold. Everyone else complains that my house is hot and I'm putting on sweaters.

I am always cold. Ugh My NUT said its because of the fact that we've cut down on sugary foods/bad empty carbs so our bodies do not have to burn as hot and fast anymore.
I've noticed that If I eat a piece of tortilla I do warm up.
I had sushi earlier this week and tried a piece of my husband's plate. It was the first time in 12 months I had any rice. Probably was lest than a tablespoon. Warmed right up.

@@tomi71 - thanks, that's the most interesting theory I've heard on the cold issue. You might be right, because I started feeling cold the day I left the hospital - so loosing blubber was not the issues, since I was still more than 100 lbs overweight! Now at 8 months out and 80 something pounds down, I'm still cold. This morning in the gym they had the doors open and fans on and everyone is in short sleeves but me. Still had my 2 shirts on! Oh well, my electric bill won't be too high this summer -- really only the dogs will need it.

You got the right idea! Upside is lower energy bill! If you are near the shore or a swimming spot, do what I plan to do this summer, lay on the hot sand until I am baked. LolPS: congrats on your great weight loss! ☺️????????

Can someone reassure me that I will someday be warm again. I live in northern Alberta so being cold is way of life for 7 months of the year but not this cold. I am 4 months post op and down 60 pounds but I still have lots of "insulation" on my body and yet I am sooo cold. Will I ever be warm again?

I can't say if it will always be like that because I do not know. What I can say is I am 5 1/2 months out and I find I am cold more than I ever was. Before my sleeve I was always hot and thought that I might have been starting menopause early because I was feeling hot like from the inside out. It was weird. I hated it.
I am in AZ so I am kinda looking forward to the being a little on the colder side to continue thru the summer months.
I know this doesn't answer your question but I know someone will weigh in soon with better information.
Good Luck and try to stay warm!!
