My husband was sleeved 9 mos ago. He was also able to swallow all his meds the day after surgery when he came home.
-
I have a hiatal hernia and Gerd so my surgeon recommends the bypass for me, but I would rather have the sleeve if I do have this surgery. Any of you sleevers also have a hiatal hernia?
-
I am ready to cancel my sleeve because I'm so scared that my antidepressants won't work for me after my surgery. I have read and researched so much that I'm literally having panic attacks about it. Talked with my psych np and got no real answers either. I have a history of depression and am scared now to have this surgery, but need to lose the weight for health reasons.

My psych gave me pristiq today for my depression, switching me from prozac to this. I'm so confused. What are the best antidepressants to take after the sleeve that will be able to be absorbed with your smaller pouch?

Got my Auth in one week, could hardly believe it...

Congratulations! I'm the 29th of Oct and very nervous

I forgot to mention I am on 2 antidepressants and abilify now.

I've been reading all evening about people who had the bypass who have suffered with depression before surgery, that have been more depressed after the surgery, possibly due to malabsorption. I've had issues with depression most of my life, but currently am managing fairly well. I'm so scared of my depression getting worse after surgery. I'm about ready to cancel my surgery after researching this topic today. I'm currently in a state of panic. Any others dealt with this issue?

You also made me feel hopeful as well. I'm hoping to get off some meds too, and get rid of my ankle pain...
-
I'm hurting so bad in my right ankle from just walking one mile on Sunday. I sure hope the weight loss helps my foot. So discouraged right now because I can't go walking

I bought a couple summer tops in large for next year. Figured couldn't go wrong with them on clearance.

I start my preop diet on October 19 and get surgery on October 29th. Keep us posted

I usually have my esophagus stretched about every 5 to 7 years and am probably about due for it. I'm scheduled for the bypass on October 29th. Should I get it done b4 my surgery? I'm not really experiencing much problem swallowing unless I eat too large bites of steak or chicken. What is your thoughts?

Dar200 I am encouraged and hopeful that exercise and maintaining our meds will keep us stable.

I'm just praying the bypass doesn't interfere with these meds continuing to work for me.
-
I actually went through a severe case of depression about 4 years ago, and since that time have done well on prozac, wellbutrin and a small dose of abilify.
-
Thanks all. I'm glad I know I can come here for support if I do start feeling down after my surgery.

The question I'm having a problem getting an answer to is do I take the short or long acting form of my antidepressants after surgery?
