  1. I went to a show yesterday and I had plenty of room to spare in the seat!
  2. I had to buy a bathing suit this weekend . . . ugh! I went into the dressing room with one and had to go back out to the rack twice to get smaller sizes. I'm down 45 lbs and I don't think my mind has caught up with the size that I need to be in.

Yay!! Can't wait until I can join you there

    Constipation

I've been taking Colace for a week or so, but it doesn't seem to help. Before surgery, I was on metformin and that caused very loose BMs on a daily basis. After surgery, I was taken off of the metformin and my body is now in the other realm. Constipation is killing me I may try the mineral oil. Thanks for the tip!
  5. I've been walking on the treadmill at home. I was set back with a gout flareup though and have taken a week off. I was just cleared this week for going back to the gym and working with weights. As soon as my foot clears up, I'll be back at the gym!

    Hair issues. Of course

I went through hair loss with the lapband surgery, even though I took Biotin and got my Protein in. It was very traumatic for me. This time around (after my revision), I'm a little more prepared for it emotionally. I'm 6 weeks post-op, so it hasn't started yet. I'm just dreading the time that it does.
  7. I didn't say anything to my co-workers either and now people are noticing my weight loss (28 lbs so far). I don't want to talk about it at work and I'm cringing at the thought of people asking questions.

    Anyone Use Fitness Pal?

I've been using it for quite a while, but it's been acting goofy lately. I just opened the app to add more Water to my diary and was shown a screen that said I had 21,474 calories remaining for the day! It's done that a few times in the last week or so. It eventually resets. Definitely weird though!
  9. I now weigh less than the fake weight I put on my license years ago! Still somewhat scale related, but a big deal
  10. We have very similar stories. I had my revision to RNY a month ago. I'm no longer in pain because of the port, and I can eat without throwing everything up! I also had to go through the entire process again with the prep appointments, but it worked out well because my new practice was so much more thorough than the previous one I was at.
  11. I keep some shelf-stable protein drinks in the closet in my classroom. If I feel like I need something, I'll have one of those. I get the EAS Advantedge lowcarb ones, they're either 100 or 110 calories. Everything else I eat comes in a lunchbag with an icepack.

    Rewards for pounds lost

I revised from lapband to RNY and am only 1 month post-op. Buying clothes along the way to make sure I have properly fitting clothes will be my focus. Savers is my friend!

    Just curious

7 incisions for lapband revision to RNY. The one where my port was taken out is a lot bigger. The others are all small, even the one where my drain was.
  14. Wow, I was kept for 2 nights after the surgery. I was told that they're more cautious with revision patients. I was up and out of bed walking the halls about 4 hours after surgery. I kept getting up and walking. That really helped move the gas. Gas pain was the only real pain I had!
  15. Best of luck! I'm 4 weeks out from revision. It's very different this time around. My recovery was honestly much better for this procedure, not sure why. I feel so much better having that darn port out of me, too!!

    Gastric Bypass VS Sleeve

I was doing a revision from lapband and my surgeon won't do revisions to sleeve. He said that there's usually too much scar tissue where he needs to cut and where you need to heal, so the bypass was the best option.
  17. I agree, it seems to contradict things that I've been told at my practice. I'd also worry about the "Water loading," that just doesn't seem good!
  18. I had my surgery on 1/6. The most pain that I had was from gas. Once the gas started coming out, I felt so much better!
  19. I got my band in July 2013. I lost 25 lbs during the pre-surgery liquid diet, but only 10 additional lbs in the following year. I had issues with the band once I started getting fills. I had a hard time keeping food down and threw up almost every time I ate solid food. My surgeon then started the fill/unfill game. I went back and forth so many times. While this was going on, I continued to have unrelenting port pain. It was unbearable from the day I had surgery. My surgeon said that I'd get used to it, but I never did. It just hurt all the time. It prevented me from exercising, sleeping, and I couldn't even sit in a chair in the same position for too long. In May 2014, my surgeon basically washed his hands of me. He unfilled my band completely and told me that it had to be removed because my body just "rejected" it. He also told me that he would not recommend another surgery for me. I regained 30 of the 35 lbs I lost. I got a second opinion and had a revision to gastric bypass 3 weeks ago. My new surgeon told me that he had never seen a lapband port placed in the position mine was in. He said that it was too high and was sitting right on top of my highest rib. He wasn't surprised at all that I had so much pain. Vindication! My surgeon and PCP both doubted my pain when I complained about it ALL THE TIME. Long story short - I'm thrilled to have the band and port out of me! I'm still on the mushy food phase right now with bypass, but so far so good. I don't have any hunger at all and have to remind myself to eat. That's something that never happened with the band. I'm much happier and more comfortable. The port pain really put a damper on my life for 1.5 years. So glad it's GONE!! Since the day of the revision surgery, I have lost 21 lbs.

Post op diet - what was yours?

Clear liquids for the first day and then full liquids (strained Soup, yogurt, Protein shakes) for 2 weeks. I was cleared for mushy foods last week. I'll be on this stage for 6 weeks.
  21. I revised to gastric bypass and I feel great (3 weeks post-op). I had terrible port pain and I'm so glad to have that thing out of me!!

    Diabetes

I have PCOS, had gestational diabetes, and now am diabetic. I've been on metformin for years for the PCOS and stayed on it to help with diabetes. My fasting sugar has always been super high (~170s), even though it comes down to a normal range during the day. When I left the hospital after surgery, my doctor told me to stop the metformin. My fasting numbers for the last 3 weeks have been in the 110s!! That's without any medicine at all.

Why You Lose Hair After Surgery

My hair thinned about 3-4 months after I had the lapband. It finally grew back and I just revised to bypass. I'm dreading the day when I start losing more hair in the shower
  24. I had surgery on 1/6, stayed 2 nights in the hospital, and was back to work on 1/21. I was definitely tired back at work the first few days. I am a teacher and ended up sitting a lot more than I normally would. I feel much better this week and am almost back to my normal self at work.
  25. I'm 2 weeks post-op today. I just started on mushy foods. I have the goals for 64 oz of water and 60 g of protein, but is there a guideline for calories at this point? I haven't see anything for that. When I had the lapbad, I was eventually limited to 1200 calories a day. Any ideas? Thanks!
