  1. After almost 12 years banded, I had it removed 3 weeks ago. I don't want to scare anyone but it's been difficult for me. It was supposed to be an hour surgery but it turned into a four surgery. The Dr nicked my spleen during surgery, Had difficulty getting it to clot. Had a lot of scar tissue also. After surgery I've had pain in left shoulder and neck, voice is horse with no pain, nauseated, and not hungry. I have to force myself to eat breakfast and feel full all day like I still have the band. I have six incisions with the two nearest the port area hurt the worst. The majority of pain is in that area with slight swelling. It was worse having it removed then put in but I know it will get better. I go back for post op exam in a few days so hopefully I will get some answers to my concerns.

Lap band removal after 10+ years

I forgot to add that there was a lot of scar tissue which made it more difficult to remove. An hour surgery turned into four hours.

Lap band removal after 10+ years

After almost 12 years of being banded, 3 weeks ago I had my lap band removed and I'm still having issues. During surgery the Dr accidentally nicked my spleen and had trouble getting it to clot. . I now have pain in my left shoulder and neck and can find nothing that relieves it. I feel nauseated often. When I talk I have to struggle to speak. My throat doesn't hurt and I can swallow but I have to really push the air out to talk. I called the surgeon and his answer was shoulder could be gas still from surgery and he didn't have an answer about the voice. I go back in a couple days for a post op exam. After seeing some comments here in really wondering if it's from my vagus nerve. I plan on bringing this up at my next appointment. Not sure how he will respond since he seems to be a little arrogant. He's not my regular Dr. If I feel he's not listening to me I will demand to see my regular Dr. I want some answers. This is frustrating after 3 weeks I should feel better then this and able to go back to work.

    TOM restriction? Is it true?

I know my Dr thought I was crazy but I noticed a difference when it became closer to my period and when the weather got colder. Strangest thing

SEVERE CHEST/BACK,SHOULDER PAIN even after removal

It's been 2 weeks since I've had mine removed due to it started to flip and I was throwing up blood. I'm still having severe pain in shoulder and chest as well. I'm releaved to see I'm not the only one. It's so bad I'm on vicotin for pain. Supposed to go back to work tomorrow but not sure how that will work out. I called Dr about it and was told could possibly still be gas from surgery. But 2 weeks later? !
